Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records. The division prepares financial and regulatory reports and maintains relationships with industry and firm regulators, serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.

Internship Program

Realize your full potential at Morgan Stanley through our campus programs.

This intensive 10-week program includes a Firmwide orientation to Morgan Stanley’s businesses and division specific training. Your training will continue throughout the summer with structured learning sessions run by senior executives. Similarly, you will have many opportunities to integrate with peers and senior colleagues through a series of networking, social, charity and mentoring events.

Roles and Responsibilities

Summer Analysts will be placed into one of the following teams based on a mutual fit, taking into consideration your interest and skill set, business needs and management decision.

Global Corporate Controllers & Planning (GCCP) is responsible for the financial and regulatory reporting of the consolidated Firm and its legal entities, accounting & regulatory policy and advisory, controllership of the Firm’s infrastructure areas and managing the Finance risk and change programs.

Institutional Securities Group Finance (ISGF) ensures accuracy of the business units’ books and records, provides management reporting and analytics to the business units’ management teams, including budgeting, forecasting and profitability.

Corporate Treasury provides corporate finance advisory service to senior management and internal business units. It also optimizes the Firm's liquidity and capital base, manages the Firm's foreign exchange and interest rate exposure, and coordinates relationships with regulators, rating agencies, and creditors.

Tax Department is responsible for global tax compliance (both corporate and indirect taxes), managing tax audits and relationships with global tax authorities, tax accounting, business unit trusted advisor on tax matters and tax planning for the Firm.

As the Summer Analyst, you will be responsible for:

• Work collaboratively in a high-performing team to ensure the integrity of Morgan Stanley's books and records

• Provide reporting and analysis to business units, senior management and regulators

• Continuously improve or enhance processes for increased control and/or efficiency

• Propose a process improvement or a solution to a business challenge

• Develop an understanding of finance terminology and divisional structure

Qualifications and Skills

• You are pursuing an undergraduate Bachelor’s or Master's degree with a graduation date between October 2026 and July 2027. Students from any degree / discipline are welcome to apply

• You have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

• Track record of academic excellence

• Strong interest in financial services and understanding of financial products is essential

• You possess excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills; you have strong teamwork and collaboration skills; you are motivated and resourceful; you possess project and process management capabilities; you demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills; you can multi-task with close attention to detail

• You have advanced technical and quantitative skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Internship Period

The Summer Analyst Program is a 10-week direct placement program into one team. The program offers an intensive hands-on introduction to Finance at Morgan Stanley.

The Role / Position Overview

FT Schools helps the next generation of decision makers prepare for life after school by enabling students to achieve more academically, make informed career choices, understand personal finance and become more engaged citizens.

The Student Advocate Program offers high school students the opportunity to develop new skills through promoting the benefits of reading the FT to their friends and teachers as well as being the voice of the student to the FT. The FT Schools Team is receptive to new ideas, creative, and a great environment to develop new employability skills and make new connections.

Job Purpose

We are trying to make the FT more accessible to young people through Student Advocates by establishing relationships with high school students and teachers at secondary schools. The role of a Student Advocate is to promote the benefits of the FT at school and represent the voice of students to the FT by suggesting ideas for how we can be more relevant for teenagers. We hope that Student University Mentors can be the bridge between Student Advocates in schools and the FT. They will lead and motivate teams of 60 Student Advocates across the world, discuss new ideas and work closely with the Schools Team to transform the FT into something which is more compelling for young people.

Student University Mentors will be able to do their work remotely from home/university and will be in regular contact with the FT. The position is paid and is part time (12 hours per month spread throughout the month) and on a contract basis (duration roughly 6 months).

Key Responsibilities

Support a group of 60 Student Advocates by running two monthly calls and maintaining regular contact on Slack, helping them feel confident sharing ideas to boost FT visibility in schools

Communicate ideas clearly between the FT and Student Advocates, and work with the Schools team to put these ideas into action

Gather feedback from Advocates on ongoing projects and use this to help shape programme development

Keep teachers updated on their students’ progress through monthly emails and respond to any queries

Track student engagement by monitoring attendance, updating records and following up where needed to ensure active participation

Required Skills / Experience

This role would suit a current university student, looking for a part time position that they can work around their studies.

Be a current undergraduate or postgraduate university student

High levels of motivation and initiative

A keen interest in news and current affairs

Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

Strong organisational and communication skills

Experience mentoring young people or working with diverse groups

Familiarity with the FT/FT Schools (desirable)

Candidates must submit a resume & cover letter by August 4th 2025.

**Main Responsibilities**
+ Undergo graduate development programme to obtain a professional qualification in relevant discipline(s) (wherever applicable)
+ Perform assignments which require application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out tasks for further development of judgment and understanding on professional and ethical responsibilities
+ Develop solutions for technical problems under supervision
+ Provide reports, analysis, research and design documents on relevant projects as directed
+ Participate in project teams to achieve work outcomes
+ Enforce ethics and compliance policy including Third Party payment, Sub-consultancy engagement process and Gift and Entertainment policy
**Qualifications**
**Core Requirements**
+ Final year students to be graduated in 2025 who are studying a Bachelor degree programme (for graduates other than UK) / Master degree programme (for UK graduates only) or above in relevant discipline(s) with regard to the business stream(s) applied
+ 2024 graduates with a Bachelor degree (for graduates other than UK) / Master degree programme (for UK graduates only) or above in relevant discipline(s) with less than 2 years of relevant experience will also be considered
+ Preferably with internship experience in related field but not a must
+ Good command of written and spoken English while good in Chinese is preferred
+ Positive attitude and passionate for professional development
+ Knowledgeable in using IT tools including business and engineering software and applications
+ Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Self-motivated, willing to learn and tackle challenges
+ Effective individual contributor with ability to work well in team

Cost Management (Quantity Surveying)
As a Graduate in our cost management teams, you’ll work on some of the most iconic projects in the world for industry leaders, driving the commercial agenda to meet our client's expectations. As a cost manager you will be driven to create the best possible commercial outcome for your client. We do this by working as one with the wider client team including designers, architects, engineers, specialist advisors, contractors, and specialist suppliers. In addition to core cost management services our teams also provide strategic delivery and operational advice.
Your career in cost management will create a foundation for success in the future, learning about the key commercial principles, procurement and buying strategies, commercial mechanisms, and contracting arrangements. You will learn how to intelligently engage with suppliers and deliver success for our clients. You will receive leading, recognised training to become chartered with Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) plus wider training in behaviours to become a true leader.
Graduate Quantity Surveyor
  • To assist in cost management commissions: cost estimates, bills of quantities, value engineering, tendering and evaluation, contract knowledge, change orders and final account close-out.
  • To estimate and produce cost plans.
  • To conduct cost assessments and valuations.
  • To prepare cost reports.
  • To liaise with the project stakeholders.
