This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • contributing to the efficient running and maintenance of the Technical and Production Team’s (Audio / Stage / Lighting) work to ensure that all technical requirements are fulfilled in a safe and professional manner in accordance with West Kowloon Cultural District Authority’s high standards of delivery to its users;
  • supporting the Technical and Productions Team on the technical operations for Performing Arts venues in the district, and cooperating with various parties in the planning and execution of production;
  • participating in the supervision of teams of technicians and supporting on the compliance with all West Kowloon Cultural District Authority’s policies, health and safety procedures and statutory regulations;
  • excelling at your area of specialisation for the delivery of technical elements of productions, events and visiting companies;
  • carrying out risk assessments and creating method statements as required by any tasks or activities you undertake;
  • taking an active role in the planned preventative maintenance, assisting in managing technical storage and stock control of the theatre’s technical equipment and infrastructure; and
  • assisting in delivering staff inductions, training assessments, and keeping up to date with current theatre technology and industry best practice.

You Should

  • possess at least 5 subjects at Level 2 / Grade E or above in the HKDSEE / HKCEE or equivalent academic qualification and have a minimum of 6 years full-time technical experience in theatre with demonstrable experience in production creation, realisation and running productions and performances, operation and maintenance of theatrical equipment and infrastructure; OR
  • possess an accredited advanced diploma in Theatre Technical Arts or equivalent technical qualification from a recognised tertiary education with a minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in theatre;
  • possess experience of working in a professional theatre or performing arts environment, and understanding of modern theatre production techniques, experience of working in stage performance/ events fit-up and set-up, rehearsals and performances;
  • have the ability to work well within the production team and able to remain calm, positive and professional when working under pressure;
  • possess knowledge of safe working practice and legislation in the theatre environment;
  • demonstrate strong knowledge, skills and experience in using ETC Family Consoles for candidate applying for Lighting operation;
  • demonstrate strong knowledge, skills and experience in using DiGiCo consoles and Dante audio networking for candidate applying for Audio operation;
  • demonstrate strong knowledge, skills and experience in automated flying systems and have experience in Theatre Carpentry for candidates applying for stage operation;
  • have computer literate in AutoCAD and MS Office suite including Outlook and Excel;
  • have the language ability of written and spoken Chinese and English.
  • be fluent in both spoken and written English and Chinese.

Conservation at M+ focuses on the preservation and long-term care of a diverse and unparallel collection of twentieth- and twenty-first-century visual culture, including design, architecture, moving image, and visual art. The team employs contemporary conservation approaches to address the challenges of diverse materials and media, technology integration, and artist intent. This includes detailed documentation of materials, techniques, and practices; addressing ephemeral and live elements; implementing preventive measures to mitigate deterioration; and developing customized methods that respect the artist's vision. Central to their work are interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaborations, engagement with living artists or pertinent stakeholders, collaboration with external colleagues and institutions, and the use of up-to-date technology for digital preservation.

Housed in a state-of-the-art facility spanning 1,600 sqm, the conservation studios and labs are furnished with equipment tailored to the unique needs of various disciplines. Working collaboratively, the international team has specialisations in objects and sculptures, installations, paintings, Asian and Western paper, photographs, time-based media, preventive conservation, and scientific research, ensuring the care and preservation of the collection. The Head, Conservation and Research is a pivotal leadership role within the Collection and Exhibition Department, responsible for overseeing the care and treatment of M+'s collection. This position requires advanced knowledge of the ethics, principles, and methods used in the conservation, and preservation of cultural heritage, which encompasses both strategic and operational responsibilities, fostering collaboration with colleagues across the museum to develop an integrated approach to conservation.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • leading institutional initiatives and research projects, providing strategic and administrative leadership for the department; as well as supervising a team of trained conservators, interns and related professionals to oversee a broad range of activities, including conservation assessment and treatment of the collection, support for exhibition and loan programs, collections research projects, disaster planning and response, and environmental monitoring;
  • collaborating with senior leaders on institutional planning, policy development, and special initiatives, and representing M+ to various external constituencies, including the conservation profession;
  • leading, managing, motivating, and developing a team with diverse conservation specialties to meet current and future requirements.
  • developing and managing departmental operating, project, and program budgets, maintaining expenses within allotted budgets;
  • developing and monitoring the implementation of annual and multi-year assessment and treatment plans, ensuring adherence to the highest safety and sustainability standards for both artwork and personnel;
  • directing and monitoring conservation treatments on objects in the M+ collection performed by museum staff and, when appropriate, by contract conservators, ensuring compliance with accepted professional standards;
  • providing conservation support to the M+ Archives and Library team for the preservation and treatment of collection archives, facilitating research access and display;
  • developing policies and oversee practices related to the care and safety of the collection and works on loan, meeting or exceeding recognized professional standards;
  • updating and ensuring department compliance with protocols regarding documentation related to the examination and treatment of works of art in the collection;
  • working with department conservators and the Collection & Exhibition Department to update artwork handling guidelines and ensure regular training and refresher courses for appropriate staff;
  • working with Senior Conservators and coordinate efforts across the Conservation team to develop and implement plans that increase the efficient operations of M+, while ensuring and promoting the safety and integrity of the collections, in close coordination with the Curatorial, Registration & Collections Management, and Exhibition & Displays teams;
  • collaborating with M+ staff to develop strategies for special exhibitions to ensure the safety and proper care of the collection and works of art on loan;
  • directing and participating in research related to the collection;
  • planning and directing research on individual works of art, larger technical art history projects, and treatment protocol development;
  • participating, as needed in the analysis and review of works of art being considered for acquisition, including technical examinations and artist interviews;
  • developing and maintaining collaborative research relationships at local, regional, and international levels to increase knowledge of the M+ collections and improve safe access and preservation;
  • advocating for the development of the conservation profession in Hong Kong and the region, and proactively represent M+ in international conservation forums;
  • exploring opportunities for the team to represent the institution at professional meetings and conferences and produce research-based publications;
  • participating in emergency and disaster planning and develop emergency plans and disaster preparedness protocols; and
  • performing any other duties as directed by the Authority

You Should

  • hold an M.A. from a recognized conservation training program, or equivalent, with a minimum of 15 years of verifiable museum conservation experience, including at least 7 years in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • demonstrate leadership experience at a senior level with high responsibility and accountability;
  • have a proven track record of developing procedures for the examination and remedial conservation of contemporary visual culture, environmental and handling requirements for loans and collection displays;
  • exhibit experience motivating and leading experienced conservators and mentoring entry- and mid-level professionals in the field;
  • possess strong leadership, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills;
  • be a strong team-player with the ability to supervise, direct, motivate, and evaluate staff, interns, and volunteers;
  • have experience in fast-paced environments with a flexible approach to problem-solving;
  • bring expertise in the conservation of contemporary visual culture and knowledge of preservation issues in cultural institutions with diverse collections;
  • exhibit comprehensive knowledge of conservation methodologies and the resources needed to support the care and treatment of the collection;
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience with the conservation of paper, photographic materials, paintings, time-based media, sculpture and objects, and/or installation art;
  • possess advanced knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of conservation materials and deterioration processes;
  • Understand and ability to apply the latest conservation methodology, techniques, technology, materials, and equipment;
  • have proven record of professional accomplishments, which may include publishing research, presenting at conferences, and active participation in professional conservation forums;
  • show sustained interest and experience in working with and interviewing living artists/practitioners;
  • demonstrate the ability to lead large-scale complex conservation projects, manage budgets, allocate resources, and coordinate with various departments;
  • have the ability to anticipate future needs of a developing institution and design effective systems for meeting the museum’s obligations regarding safe access and use of collections.
  • Be proficient in using collection management databases; TMS is preferred;
  • Possess the ability to write reports and business correspondence, effectively present information, and respond to inquiries and requests from museum staff, outside organizations, and the public;
  • have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; and
  • exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills in English; knowledge of a foreign language, preferably Chinese, is a plus.

The Legislative Council Secretariat (“the Secretariat”) is looking for high-calibre individuals for appointment as Archivist in its Research and Information Division. Under the supervision of The Legislative Council Commission, the Secretariat’s mission is to provide efficient and professional secretariat, research and administrative support for the Legislative Council (“LegCo”), enhance community understanding of the activities of LegCo and ensure an effective avenue for redressing grievances of members of the public.

The main duties of an Archivist include:

(a) assisting in formulation of policies and implementation of best practices for the records and archival management and preservation for LegCo;

(b) arranging, describing and preserving archival records in all formats (including born-digital, digitized, analogue and hybrid) and preparing suitable findings aids;

(c) performing records access review and providing records access and reference services;

(d) digitizing records stored in other formats (e.g. paper, analogue and hybrid) for archival preservation;

(e) assisting in implementation of a centralized electronic records management system for the Secretariat;

(f) providing advice, guidance, training on records and archival management; and

(g) conducting outreach activities and regular exhibitions.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have:

(a) a recognized university degree, preferably in Archives and Records Management, or a recognized postgraduate diploma in Archives and Records Management. Applicants with a recognized university degree in Information Management, Library Science or History, and specializing in Archives and Records Management may also be considered;

(b) at least six years’ professional work experience in archives and records management. Applicants with exceptional potential but less than six years’ relevant experience may also be considered and, if appointed, will be offered an appropriate salary point below the minimum point of the salary scale for Archivist;

(c) strong technology skills, knowledge and experience in managing electronic records, archival digitization and preservation, including but not limited to knowledge of metadata standards and schemas, and digital preservation methods and tools;

(d) sound knowledge and work experience in the international standards and professional practices on handling archival records;

(e) high proficiency in performing records description based on General International Standard Archival Description (ISAD(G));

(f) an excellent command of written and spoken Chinese and English, with proficiency in Putonghua;

(g) strong interpersonal, supervisory, time management, project management, analytical and problem-solving skills;

(h) self-motivation and a positive attitude towards challenges and changes; and

(i) the ability to work independently and under pressure.

Preference will be given to those who are familiar with common computer applications such as word processors, spreadsheet programmes and database management systems. Hands-on experience in creating metadata descriptions, processing materials which are digitized, born digital or of hybrid formats, and using electronic record keeping systems and/or digital preservation systems in public organizations will be a bonus.

All candidates should be willing to work beyond normal office hours and on holidays when needed.

The Secretariat may devise further criteria to shortlist applicants. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend a written test.

Remuneration

The starting salary is $64,780 per month, increasing by five annual increments to $1,510. There is also a monthly cash allowance for the rank of Archivist (the current rate is 1,210 per month). Successful candidates will be appointed on three-year agreement terms subject to renewal upon satisfactory completion of service, at which the appointee will be eligible for an end-of-agreement gratuity. The gratuity, when added to the employer’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme, is equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the agreement period. Fringe benefits include paid leave as well as medical and dental benefits.

  • organising regular meetings in coordination with other Lead Curators and AD&CC, and also regular or ad-hoc discussions within respective team to align the curatorial directions and ensure that the curatorial programmes are executed according to business plan and corporate plan;
  • working closely with curators in the respective team and AD&CC to create long-term acquisition plans and overall roadmap for the M+ collections;
  • collaborating with other departments within M+ and the Authority to ensure the curatorial programmes are executed successfully;
  • participating in regular check-ins and strategic planning with AD&CC, senior curatorial team, and also with senior management of M+ when necessary;
  • supervising and performance-managing the team and ensuring the team has the appropriate level of skills and training for tasks they are required to undertake; and
  • performing all related duties as needed and assigned by supervisor.

You Should

  • possess a recognized university degree or higher relevant to art history, fine arts, or other related disciplines;
  • have at least 12 years of experience in curating and staging exhibitions and related programs, especially in areas of Chinese and Asian modern and contemporary art and visual culture;
  • have at least 5 years of experience in managing a team;
  • possess experience in working with and building a collection;
  • have well-developed professional network, preferably good connection with curators from international museums;
  • possess solid leadership, problem-solving and collaboration skills; and
  • have excellent written and verbal communication skill in English, preferably with knowledge of Cantonese or Putonghua.

The Jeweler performs a variety of technical and operational duties related to repairs and alterations for jewelry in the market. They work with precious metals, including platinum, gold, and silver, as well as other materials. Responsibilities include soldering, laser welding, fabrication, assembly, enameling, finishing, hallmarking, stone setting, and more. The Jeweler should have deep knowledge of jewelry materials, metal assay, and gemstone identification. They also perform basic watch services like battery and strap changes.

The Jeweler reports to the Director, Global Servicing, and is based in our Warehouse.

Responsibilities
  • Perform servicing according to Tiffany & Co. standards.
  • Ensure quality and craftsmanship, follow repair instructions, inspect work, and perform specialty craft work as needed.
  • Meet productivity standards and maintain organized workspaces.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to parts, orders, and inquiries.
  • Assist clients with questions and alterations.
  • Develop product knowledge and seek skill improvements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support workshop safety and cleanliness.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in jewelry repair.
  • Soldering, laser welding, and diamond setting experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
Preferred
  • Degree in jewelry technical/design or related courses.
  • Luxury retail experience.

The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.

(Candidate with less experience will be considered for the post of Associate Conservator.)

You Will Be Responsible For

  • performing conservation work, including examination, conservation assessment, research, treatment, and documentation of objects as well as preparation of objects for exhibition, and ensuring gallery and storage environment is well maintained all the time for the objects;
  • handling exhibition related conservation work, such as condition report and courier trip; advising on climate control, packing materials and methods, display duration and methods, mount-making, framing and matting, and issues related to display cases;
  • conducting research, contributing to the field of conservation and scientific research
  • co-organising workshops, symposia and other scholarly projects;
  • contributing to the public conservation education project in collaboration with the museum’s learning and engagement team;
  • assisting in developing, maintaining, and regularly reviewing guidelines, policies, standards, and procedures for the conservation and care of the museum’s collections as well as incoming and outgoing loans; collaborating with relevant teams to develop and implement emergency plans and disaster preparedness protocols;
  • maintaining conservation studio in the museum building, including the research and procurement of special equipment for conservation;
  • assisting in co-developing conservation budget and monitor expenditures;
  • working collaboratively with curators, registrars, exhibition managers, designers, security and safety officers, facility managers, and external stakeholders ensure the proper care of the museum’s collection, loans, and the safety of the museum environment;
  • providing advice and necessary training to other HKPM staff; developing collaborative relationship with the teams within HKPM, the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, and outside service providers and users; and
  • performing other duties as assigned by supervisor when deemed necessary.

You Should

  • possess a recognised degree in conservation or conservation science or similar training programmes from a recognized college or university, or equivalent credentials such as certificates from a recognized conservation training programme.
  • have at least 5 years of verifiable museum conservation experience (or equivalent) beyond the degree of certificate.
  • possess a broad range of expert knowledge of and hands-on experience with the techniques, materials, and equipment used in the conservation and scientific research of museum objects and Chinese art or archaeological objects.
  • have knowledge of the procedures and best practices relating to the examination and preventative and remedial conservation of museum art objects; the environmental and handling requirements for storage, exhibition and travel of objects;
  • have extensive experience with exhibition related conservation matters;
  • have proven track record of professional accomplishments in the field of conservation and scientific research that may include publication, conference papers, and research projects;
  • Experience of acting as a trainer, or experience with public conservation education is a plus;
  • have a good understanding of museum collection management and associated softwares, such as Collection Management System, The Museum System (TMS), is a plus;
  • be a strong team-player with excellent organizational, and diplomatic/negotiation skills, meticulous attention to details and accuracy, as well as the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple complex projects concurrently;
  • have a local and international network in the field of conservation and scientific research. Experience with Hong Kong and/or Mainland Chinese, or International institutions and collections is a plus; and
  • possess good communication skills and proficiency in English. Proficiency in Cantonese and/or Putonghua is a plus.
