Overview

We are looking for a high-caliber professional to join our Cable O&M Section under Circuits Branch of Transmission Department. The appointee will report to the Senior Engineer and be responsible for the duties described below.

Duties
  • Supervise operation & maintenance, repair and improvement projects of various transmission assets up to 400kV
  • Carry out fault / defect investigation, diagnosis, analysis and repairs as well as prepare related detailed reports
  • Assist in preparing feasibility study, budget, design and engineering of transmission improvement / renovation projects in accordance with statutory, safety, technical, cost, quality, and customer requirements
  • Assist in application and monitoring of statutory permits and liaising with external parties
  • Assist in planning, monitoring and controlling project activities and implementing control procedures and practices in accordance with the Company’s management systems of health, safety, security, environment and quality (HSSEQ)
  • Assist in management of contractor activities, negotiation and attending site meetings with various stakeholders for different infrastructure and external projects
  • Ensure proper record update in various management systems
  • Perform standby duty after normal office hours and during adverse weather condition / typhoon period, and carry out emergency repairs as and when required
Requirements
  • A recognized university degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in project management
  • Familiarity with CLP Power Safety Rules, engineering standards and codes of practice is preferable
  • Good safety awareness and mindset
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadline
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in English and Chinese; fluency in Putonghua would be an advantage
  • Customer-oriented, self-motivated, and a team player
  • Being Authorised Person (AP) / Senior Authorised Person (SAP) would be an advantage
  • A valid Driving License class 1/1a, 2/2a would be an advantage

  • Create and generate electrical drawings for the Baggage Handling System.

Requirements

  • Familiar with local ordinances and regulations, COP, as well as relevant international standards.
  • Proficient in English and Chinese, good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as a team player with an open mindset.
  • Customer services oriented.
  • Computer skills are required, e.g. MS Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc.
  • Holder of a Grade A registered electrical worker certificate or above will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

CORE FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage and prepare electrical engineering designs, analyses, and calculations for projects of medium complexity. Responsible to check detail designs and calculations from engineering consultants. Provide technical direction to in-house engineers and designers, and to outside consultants in the production of construction contract documents. Monitor progress of work and ensure that technical quality, interdiscipline coordination and production requirements are met. Develop or assist in developing scopes of work and engineering design estimates. Ensure conformance to department design standards, procedures and specifications. Provide direction to in-house engineers during construction in quality control of working drawings and on-site implementation. Liaise with Authorities on submission approval and statutory inspections. May have Engineer of Record responsibility.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional registration in the field of electrical engineering. REW registration is required. Graduate of an accredited school of engineering, with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering/ Building Services degree. Advanced degree in the field of electrical engineering is desirable. Minimum 10 years of work experience in electrical engineering, with experience in the production and use of contract documents for commercial or industrial projects. Minimum of 3 years managing a team of electrical engineers and designers in the production of contract documents for construction. Experienced in the construction phase with submittal/shop drawing review process and on-site field inspections.

TECHNICAL AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS :

Electrical engineering design and analysis experience in the areas of power and controls. General knowledge of the electrical engineering discipline, including industry practices, construction methods and materials, codes, current technology and the preparation and use of contract documents in all phases of design and construction. Working knowledge of electrical control and low-voltage/telecommunications systems design is desirable. Proficient in the use of BIM technology, Revit and CAD for engineering design, production, and analysis. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and to thrive in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline project team environment. Ability to supervise a small team of electrical engineers and designers in the production of construction documents for project of medium complexity through all phases of design. Strong written and oral communication skills, along with good interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skill and the ability to effectively delegate work to subordinates.

JOB SPECIFIC SCOPE POTENTIAL:

Project Scope: Generally responsible for the electrical design and/or management of a single project.

Qualified Candidates in the field with less experience will be considered for an Electrical Engineer position.
