- Lead the AML technology team with 10+ members, responsible for end-to-end architecture and technical leadership for both on-chain and on-platform transaction monitoring and case management systems.
- For transaction monitoring, build scalable and robust processing pipelines for both offline and realtime data signals, adopting both rule-based strategies and AI models to detect suspicious activities.
- For case management, build a secure and efficient platform for operations team to review, track and escalate cases from compliance controls, fraud risk detection and payment fraud alerts.
- Develop technical roadmaps for system evolution, balancing rapid delivery with long-term scalability.
- Collaborate with product and compliance teams to establish data-driven compliance effectiveness objectives, ensuring technical solutions align with evolving regulatory requirements (e.g., EU’s MiCA framework, Travel rule compliance).
- Drive R&D in cutting-edge AML technologies, such as AI-powered detection capabilities and graph analytics to improve operational efficiency in case investigations.
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience in AML or risk management, with a track record of building AML systems from scratch (e.g., TMS, Chainalysis).
- Deep understanding of blockchain and crypto risks (e.g., mixer tracing, cross-chain laundering).
- 7+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years focused on AML system development in fintech, crypto, or banking sectors.
- Proficient in Java and JVM optimization, with expertise in concurrency frameworks (Netty/Disruptor) and distributed system design (CAP theorem, idempotency).
- Extensive experience with the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot/Cloud), database optimization (MySQL sharding, Redis caching strategies), and middleware (Kafka/RabbitMQ).

- Lead and oversee the Project Engineering Department, managing multiple teams across Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Southeast Asia
- Direct the full lifecycle of toy development projects—from concept, design, prototyping, tooling, and production to delivery
- Collaborate closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and factory teams to ensure project alignment with customer expectations, timelines, and compliance standards
- Provide technical leadership in plastic injection molding, product engineering, and materials selection
- Ensure all products meet global toy safety and regulatory standards

- Manage departmental budgets, KPIs, and strategic planning for engineering operations

- 10+ years of experience in toy project engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role

The GTPN (Global Treasury and Payment Network) Team is at the heart of Airwallex’s payment infrastructure, specializing in expanding the coverage of Airwallex’s global treasury and payment network, enhancing its capabilities and user experience, and provisioning innovative payment products grounded in a robust financial infrastructure. With the ongoing expansion of our global presence, we seek a highly accomplished and motivated Engineering Director to assume leadership of this dynamic team.
As the Engineering Director in Airwallex’s GTPN team, you will oversee a number of feature teams across Transfers, Client Treasury, and GTPN Infrastructure. While you are a technically strong engineer who is still passionate about engineering, your leadership skills, product thinking, and business acumen are what really set you apart.
