Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is very widely used in breakthrough enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Our customers include the world's leading public cloud and silicon providers, and industry leaders in many sectors. The company is a pioneer of global distributed collaboration, with 1200+ colleagues in 75+ countries and very few office-based roles. Teams meet two to four times yearly in person, in interesting locations around the world, to align on strategy and execution.
The company is founder-led, profitable, and growing.
We want to transform the world of software operations by enabling true model-driven operations via next-generation infrastructure-as-code. We strive for high quality in both design, documentation, tests, and performance as we enhance operations code packages and Ubuntu itself in order to ensure our platform is the easiest, most robust, and best performing for driving your infrastructure.
As an Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility is to the people you lead and support: ensuring that they are growing as engineers, doing valuable work, and finding satisfaction in their career at Canonical. We need someone who can display technical leadership by leveraging a solid background in software development so that they're able to challenge and grow their team members. You will have the opportunity to influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery, and work with your team on direction and execution.

Reap is a global financial technology company headquartered in Hong Kong with employees across multiple countries. We enable financial connectivity and access for businesses worldwide by combining traditional finance with stablecoins for efficient money movement.
Through our stablecoin-powered corporate cards, payments, and expense management tools, we streamline financial operations and help businesses scale. Our APIs enable businesses to integrate stablecoin-enabled finance into their own products and services—from issuing Visa cards to facilitating cross-border payments.
Backed by leading investors including Index Ventures and HashKey Capital, Reap is building the future of borderless, stablecoin-enabled finance.
About The Team
Our platform empowers businesses with borderless card issuing, seamless payments, and rich expense management tooling. At the core of our offering is the Reap Card —a modern, stablecoin-enabled Visa commercial card solution that unlocks flexible spend controls, global acceptance, and real-time reconciliation for businesses of all sizes.
For developers and partners, Reap also offers a powerful Card Issuing API and white-labelled card program infrastructure —enabling businesses to launch their own branded corporate card experiences with full control over issuance, authorization, funding, and user management. Whether through our dashboard or API, Reap helps companies embed financial services into their workflows with scale, compliance, and flexibility.
What you’ll do
As an Engineering Manager in the Card Engineering team , you will lead a core sub-team that powers one of Reap’s most mission-critical product areas: our Card Platform.
You’ll oversee the development of systems that process card transactions, assess fraud risks, manage client programs, or support the infrastructure for issuing and managing cards at scale. Your role will directly contribute to enabling use cases like real-time spend controls, tokenized wallets, compliant transaction flows, and customizable card programs for our clients and partners.
This is a hands-on leadership role : you’ll guide engineering strategy, participate in technical design, collaborate with cross-functional partners (Product, Risk, Treasury, Compliance), and help Reap scale its card issuing infrastructure globally. You will be instrumental in shaping the next generation of stablecoin-powered card and spend solutions.
Responsibilities ( Sub-Team Focus Areas)
As An Engineering Manager, You Will Lead One Of The Following Specialized Sub-teams Within Card Engineering. Each Team Focuses On a Distinct Area Of Our Card Platform
- Transaction & Risk Management
- Real-time transaction processing (including 3DS)
- Fraud detection, compliance rules, and chargeback handling
- Transaction monitoring and client risk tools
- Client Program Operations
- Client funding, account management, and reconciliation
- Billing infrastructure, fee handling, and reporting pipelines
- Card Management & Logistics
- Card creation, shipping, and configuration
- Tokenization and digital wallet provisioning
- Client-facing card management tools
Minimum Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in a technical leadership or management role
- Proven experience in building and operating systems in one or more of the following: payments, risk/fraud systems, card infrastructure, financial reconciliation, or API platforms
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering initiatives and drive architectural decisions
- Strong systems thinking; ability to design fault-tolerant, observable, and scalable services
- Hold a high bar for code quality, reliability, and peer review, and value working closely with others who do the same
- Communicate clearly, challenge ideas respectfully, and help raise the quality of the whole team
- Our main stack is TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and AWS, but we value strong engineering fundamentals over any specific toolset
- Experience working on high-availability financial systems with real-time transaction processing
- Experience with card networks (Visa, Mastercard) and card lifecycle management
- Exposure to 3DS, tokenization, digital wallets, and PCI compliance
- Experience leading teams in high-growth, fast-paced environments
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., NewRelic, Datadog, OpenTelemetry) and CI/CD automation
- Bonus: Full-stack capability, AI/LLM-assisted development familiarity
- Be part of a global fintech team at the frontier of stablecoin innovation
- Work with a high-caliber team across engineering, product, and operations
- Lead impactful projects in a role with ownership and visibility
