Purpose
The Assistant Manager Social & Environmental Affairs (SEA) will support the implementation of adidas’ social compliance policies, program and human rights due diligence in the upstream supply chain. The role will also include administrative program support, to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the SEA program globally.
Purpose
The Assistant Manager Social & Environmental Affairs (SEA) will support the implementation of adidas’ social compliance policies, program and human rights due diligence in the upstream supply chain. The scope of this role includes supporting the effective implementation of key strategic projects and initiatives, and actively engaging with internal and external stakeholders. The role will also include administrative program support, to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the SEA program globally.
Key Responsibilities
Social Compliance Program Support (75%)
- Support the effective implementation of SEA policies, projects, and programs across the region in alignment with the established work plan
- Assist the SEA Social Assurance Team in tracking compliance monitoring activities in the upstream supply chain, ensuring alignment with the annual work plan
- Carry out specific tasks in implementation of the adidas Responsible Recruitment Policy across the supply chain, with a specific focus on sourcing regions with high dependencies on foreign migrant labor
- Contribute to social compliance data collection, analysis and reporting, and improving the integrity, accuracy, completion, and the timeliness of social compliance data
- Conduct qualitative research and benchmarking of social compliance and human rights trends and topics in related industry and country
- Engage with key internal stakeholders and external stakeholders to integrate social compliance requirements into business practices
- Support other ad-hoc projects within the SEA team on an as-needed basis
- Support with tracking and managing SEA program budgets, including program and consultancy costs, travel costs, and other related program activity costs
- Collate monthly management reports documenting key updates from SEA program initiatives and other relevant business/program updates
- Support in the procurement of external services (e.g. consultancy services) and process contracts, invoices and purchase orders
- Support in issuing SEA program communications to adidas business partners on an as-needed basis
- Other SEA team members including Field Operations, Social Assurance and Program Operations
- External stakeholders such as civil society and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), industry associations and multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Demonstrated commitment to and interest in advancing human rights and labor standards in global supply chains and knowledge in human rights, labor, environment, health & safety regulations, and international labor standards preferred
- Direct project management knowledge and experience, including developing and maintaining project plans, providing regular communication and coordination, high priority setting and problem solving, and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively via multiple formats, including data visualizations, written narratives/reports, and verbal presentations.
- Effective cross-functional collaborator with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships internally and externally
- Direct experience conducting in-depth social compliance/human rights due diligence assessment, and/or occupational health & safety assessments is highly desirable
- Fluency in English required, additional fluency in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) highly desirable
- University degree (Bachelor’s) in a relevant discipline such as Social Science, Business Administration, or related discipline
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in social compliance, sustainability, supply chain, or global sourcing business
- Experience in data analytics and reporting, including but not limited to use of Power BI
- Proficient and effective use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)

As a Senior Manager - Vendor Compliance and Sustainability , you will play a pivotal role in driving and enhancing social and sustainability initiatives across Li & Fung’s vendor network. You will lead sustainability related projects with an emphasis on hardgoods, including project management, comprehensive data analysis, capacity building support to factories and vendors. Your expertise will ensure that vendor compliance and sustainability efforts are seamlessly integrated to foster long-term environmental and social responsibility throughout the supply chain.
Here is what you need to know about this role:
- Lead and develop sustainability programs and initiatives for responsible business unit(s), ensuring tracking of sustainability goals in line with the broader sustainability strategy.
- Liaison among clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders on compliance and sustainability matters.
- Identify and manage environmental sustainability issues, concerns and stakeholder interests relevant to the company.
- Coordinate with various teams and internal/external stakeholders to design environmental impact reduction strategies and lead the implementation of prioritized initiatives to achieve strategic objectives.
- Roll out systems to measure the progress of environmental initiatives. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these initiatives with an aim to achieve set environmental and targets.
- Assist in establishing sustainability targets for business units, lead verification work and analyze data for corporate reporting.
- Contribute to foster sustainability awareness across all levels and functions, and address any internal and customer inquiries regarding stainability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or Sustainability.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in sustainability or corporate social responsibility. Experiences in working with supply chain partners/factories, particularly in hardgoods and/or packaging sustainability, would be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of corporate environmental issues including energy, greenhouse gas emissions, science-based targets, water management, waste reduction, and effective goal-setting, as well as, designing initiatives for reduction and measuring progress.
- Skilled in securing stakeholder support for implementing environmental initiatives and programs both internally and externally in a large organization
- Proficient in technical environmental footprint calculation methodologies and frameworks.
- Proven track records in implementing sustainability solutions in supply chain and managing environmental programs against set KPIs.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization, with cross-functional teams across various geographical regions to deliver result in a timely manner, respond to changing demands, anticipate potential issues, and recommend preventive courses of action.
