This is a general selection process for all seniority levels, to join teams that focus on open source networking software at Canonical. Apply here if you are an outstanding software engineer, passionate about networking at any level - from the Linux kernel IP or eBPF and bridge constructs, to overlay SDN networking like OVS and OVN, to router, switch and radio access technologies such as SoNIC, FRR and DENT, all the way up to telco MANO and 5G Core solutions.
We work with networking silicon providers to optimise Ubuntu and related applications for their ASICs, boards and appliances. We aim to provide a complete open source stack for data centre networking, from bare metal through virt, container and serverless, and also to address IoT networking systematically.

• An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path
• Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations
• Knowledge of networking: architecture, design, and protocols
• Deep understanding of Linux networking, from kernel to user space
• Fluency in at least one of Golang, C/C++, Rust or Python
• Professional written and spoken English

• Familiarity with existing open source networking technologies - kernel (including eBPF, AF_XDP), OVS, OVN, SoNIC, DENT, Switchdev, DPDK, SPDK, 5G 3GPP, ONF stack, iwd, NetworkManager, etc.
• Familiarity with data path hardware acceleration protocols and interfaces, such as RDMA, RoCE, iWARP, NVMe, SR-IOV
• Computer architecture knowledge of x86, ARM, and RISC-V
• Experience in complex IP network engineering and implementation
• Experience with virtualization technologies, e.g., QEMU, KVM, etc.
• Previous contribution to open source projects and community involvement

Job Responsibilities

To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

• Support R&D in 5G core network, edge computing system, 5G applications integration, Operation Technology (OT) applications integration
• Build and execute 5G end-to-end system integration, inter-operability testing, verifications, performance testing and tuning on 5G system (5G features, such as Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), Network Slicing, Cloud Native 5GC, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), …)
• Develop hands-on experience and know-hows in cloud-based technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, ELK, Kafka, Redis, gRPC)
• Develop responsive and user-friendly web interfaces for 5G management systems using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
• Design and implement robust backend services in Java, leveraging technologies like MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Cassandra for scalable and high-availability solutions
• Integrate 5G network orchestration system with ML/AI technologies like LLM, RAG, MCP, etc.
• Work closely with other software developers, system architects, and network engineers to ensure the interoperability and performance of the 5G core network functions
• Develop and maintain unit tests and automated test suites to ensure the quality and robustness of the code
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues in a timely manner
• Communicate and support customers for commercialization
  
  

• Graduate with a Bachelor’s, Master or a PhD degree in STEM-related disciplines such as Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering and Mathematics or relevant disciplines is welcome to apply
• Experience with one or more of the program languages: C/C++, Golang, Python, Java, Shell Scripting, etc.
• Experience with frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, proficiency in model training and evaluation, practical application of machine learning algorithms
• Experience with latest AI technologies like LLM, RAG, MCP, etc. is a plus
• Experience in web development (e.g., React.js, JavaScript, CSS etc.) is a plus

We are looking for a talented and self-motivated individual to work with partners and customers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may occur with their solution deployed at site . This role will be based in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong and will report to the Technical Manager – NEA. The position will require traveling around the domestic regions as well as occasional North East Asia regions when required.

Responsibilities

• Handle Technical Support cases and provide phone, remote assistance and on-site support to dealers and customers.

• Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application.

• Identify solutions for technical support scenarios, product selection and system design for audio visual system applications.

• Assist customers by providing technical information and support for our products and technologies.

• Maintain a high-level of professional communication with our dealers and clients throughout the processes of resolving their technical issues.

• Perform technical / product training for dealers and targeted accounts.

• Work closely with the regional team in identifying customer’s needs and sales opportunities to help future growth.

• Participate in marketing events such as trade shows and conferences to ensure the messaging is presented correctly.

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in anyone of the following: Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology or Computer Programming or actively enrolled in a BS program.

• 3-5 years of experience in A/V Integration, Help Desk, or Technical Support

• Broad understanding of Ethernet networking technologies. CCNA or similar networking certification is highly desirable.

• Self-starter with proven ability to constantly learn new software and hardware technologies and an ability to quickly put that learning into practice in support of highly visible real-world projects.

• Experienced with several of the following: C#, Microsoft PowerShell, BacNET/IP and SIP/VOIP is highly preferred.

• Experience with software development tools, including Simpl Windows, Simpl+, Simpl#, D3Pro, preferred

Job Responsibilities:

• Support R&D in 5G core network, edge computing system, 5G applications integration, Operation Technology (OT) applications integration
• Build and execute 5G end-to-end system integration, inter-operability testing, verifications, performance testing and tuning on 5G system (5G features, such as Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), Network Slicing, Cloud Native 5GC, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), …)
• Develop hands on experience and know-hows in cloud-based technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, ELK, Kafka, Redis, gRPC)
• Design and implement robust backend services in Java, leveraging technologies like MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Cassandra for scalable and high-availability solutions
• Design and develop high-performance, scalable, and reliable C/C++ code for 5G core network functions
• Work closely with other software developers, system architects, and network engineers to ensure the interoperability and performance of the 5G core network functions
• Develop and maintain unit tests and automated test suites to ensure the quality and robustness of the code
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues in a timely manner
• Communicate and support customers for commercialization

Job Requirements:

• Graduate with a Bachelor’s, Master's or a PhD's degree in STEM-related disciplines such as Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering and Mathematics or relevant disciplines is welcome to apply
• Familiar with cloud-based technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, ELK, Kafka, Redis, gRPC) is a plus
