Job Responsibilities
To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

• To conduct research, design, development, and testing of power electronics hardware / embedded software solutions for green power including solid-state transformer, EV charging, PV inverter, battery storage system, DC microgrid applications, and etc.
• To conduct DSP/MCU/FPGA programming for power converters control and modulation design and implementation
• To conduct sample build, laboratory electrical / thermal testing and field support
• To conduct literature and market review on products, patents and research papers
• To assist project proposal preparation and presentation
• Working location is in Hong Kong; occasionally work at Futian office
• Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned
  

• Bachelor degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines with 6 years of experience
• Master degree with 3 years of experience, or Ph.D. degree in related area
• Good applications knowledge of power converter/ inverter electrical design; ST / TI DSP; wireless communication modules such as Bluetooth, WiFi for power electronics converter related control and communication applications Hands-on experience in laboratory soldering and electrical testing work
• Good written and communication skills in English
• Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills; independent, responsible and outgoing character
• Candidates with less experience will be considered as Lead Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

1. Develop back-end software for fintech applications.
2. Develop front-end interfaces and integrate with back-end systems.
3. Write technical documents and reports.
4. Design and implement test plans.
5. Work in a team setting and engage in the full product lifecycle.
6. Cooperate with third-party providers for product integration and support (8x5).
7. Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

1. Ph.D., Master, or Bachelor in computer science, Engineering, Science or relevant disciplines.
2. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (candidates with less experience may be considered).
3. Proficient in Java/Kotlin or Python.
4. Hands-on experience with the machine learning tech stack, including self-supervised learning, reinforcement learning and model tuning is highly desirable.
5. Hands-on experience with the blockchain tech stack, including smart contract and dApps development (in Solidity/Go/Rust or other relevant languages), digital tokens and cryptography is highly desirable.
6. Hands-on experience with RESTful API development and familiarity with back-end frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot) and front-end frameworks (e.g., ReactJS, Vue.js, Bootstrap, jQuery) is desirable.
7. Familiarity with financial modelling, asset tokenization is a plus.
8. Familiarity with CI/CD is a plus.
9. Experience with ITC project workflows is a plus.
10. Quick learner with a keen interest in new technologies.
11. Proficiency in creating technical documentation in English.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.

• Evaluate new techniques and make technical recommendations.

• Hands on experience in building machine learning models.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct 5G network radio planning, including cell site planning, coverage simulations, interference analysis, network optimization, etc.
• Conduct 5G end-to-end system performance testing and inter-operability testing including:

1.) Set up and operate 5G end-to-end system

2.) Collect and analyze base station and terminal logs; and

3.) Take signal measurements using test equipment such as signal and spectrum analyzers, mobile network scanners, etc.

• Take part in 5G network deployment including:

1.) Conduct site survey to propose antenna installation plan, network connection plan, cable routing plan, etc.; and

2.) Propose network optimization based on field conditions such as call-drop rate

Job Requirements:

• PhD or Master’s degree holder in Computer Science, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or relevant disciplines with a minimum of 3 years of related experience
• Candidates with fewer experiences may also be considered
• Knowledge of 4G/5G standards (such as 3GPP and O-RAN) are preferred
• Experience in design, implementation, operating, securing and troubleshooting wireless networks, and operation of 4G/5G base station and core network is preferred
• Solid knowledge in information theory, signal processing, stochastic process, antennas and propagation, and microwave theory techniques is a plus
• Experience in the use of testing equipment such as signal generators, signal and spectrum analysers, and mobile network scanners is preferred
• Mobile network operator work experience is a plus
• Proficiency in written and spoken English, Cantonese and, Mandarin

Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research.

ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Advanced Electronic Components and Systems; Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies; Communications Technologies; IoT Sensing and AI Technologies; and Intelligent Perception and Control Technologies.

It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits and Metaverse.

To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct R&D in cutting-edge smart mobility-related areas, including Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), autonomous driving, intelligent transportation systems and the Low-Altitude Economy (LAE), with the objective to deploy commercial trials and rollouts in the market in partnership with industry leaders in these areas
• Define requirements, specifications, and innovative designs for smart mobility technology
• Perform on-site deployment, integration, and testing of the Smart Mobility technology based on the varying requirements of different customers and partners
• Design and implement new patents in smart mobility-related areas
• Research and build up know-how and hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas, but not limited to:
• AI & Perception
  • Intelligent perception of traffic events, including multi-modal sensor fusion, object tracking, and event detection, by combining data from LiDAR, cameras, radar, and other sensors
  • Data-driven microscopic modelling of transportation system
  • Behavior modelling and cognitive AI in transportation systems
  • Develop predictive analytics models to forecast traffic trends and recommend real-time traffic adjustments
• Simulation
  • Design and implement autonomous simulation software that model and simulate traffic elements, traffic patterns, transportation systems, infrastructure and various scenarios
  • Design and implement data mining algorithms and statistical models to extract insights from large datasets from transportation system
  • Analyze simulation results to identify potential traffic safety and efficiency issues and propose solutions for improvement
  • Conduct performance testing and optimization of simulation models
• Backend & Frontend
  • Design, develop, and maintain server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness
  • Design and implement distributed system architectures for large-scale applications
  • Develop and maintain microservices architecture for modular and scalable applications
  • Design and maintain relational and NoSQL databases, optimize queries and database performance for scalability and efficiency
  • Design, develop, and maintain GIS-based applications and tools for spatial data management, analysis and visualization
  • Design intuitive Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) interfaces for autonomous vehicles and smart transportation systems

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or relevant discipline with a minimum 3 years of related experience
• Candidates with less experience may also be considered
• For applying theAI-related opening(s) , candidates are expected to have sound knowledge and understanding in principles of machine-leaning, including neural networks, optimization methods, and statistical methods, as well as experience in at least one of the following programming languages: C++/C/Java/Python
• For applying theperception-related opening(s) , candidates are expected to be proficient in sensor fusion algorithms for object detection and tracking, as well as in sensor data processing and deep learning frameworks for perception tasks
• For applying thesimulation-related opening(s) , candidates are expected to be familiar with simulation tools such as SUMO, CARLA, NS-3
• Candidates with solid experience in Java and its ecosystem (including frameworks like Spring Boot, OSGi, Hibernate, and Java EE), web services and APIs (such as REST, gRPC, WebSockets, MQTT) will be prioritized
• Candidates with solid experience in modern frontend frameworks and libraries such as React and Vue.js, along with knowledge of responsive design principles and intuitive Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) will be prioritized
• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, Mapbox, or OpenLayers, as well as databases including PostGIS (PostgreSQL), and MongoDB, with the ability to manage and process large-scale geospatial datasets, will be prioritized
• Good command of both written/spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office is a basic requirement
• Characteristics such as good teamwork, communication, and a strong work ethic will be a plus
