As Principal Manager - Software Architecture & Engineering, you will be a key technology leader within our Digital Engineering organization, responsible for driving software and application architecture excellence and engineering best practices for various projects across both onshore and offshore development teams, and vendors. You will play a critical role in establishing and scaling our global development capabilities while ensuring the delivery of quality, scalable, and highly maintainable software solutions that support CLP's digital transformation initiatives.
This role will lead a team of Software Engineering Managers for software engineering activities to deliver large-scale, complex projects with a focus on high-quality, value-driven software solutions as part of the Software Development lifecycle. Also, be a key bridge between technical teams and business/project stakeholders, ensuring solutions align with customer/project needs and strategic objectives while maintaining high quality, scalability, and maintainability.
This role requires a seasoned engineering leader with deep technical expertise in application architecture and development, proven experience in building and managing distributed teams, and the vision to leverage emerging technologies including AI and automation to enhance engineering productivity and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Software Architecture & Engineering Leadership
- Support Head of Digital Engineering to implement software engineering and delivery strategy, ensuring the alignment and successful completion following the overall CLP’s digital strategy
- Establish and drive the Centre of Excellence for Digital Engineering, ensuring digital engineering standards and maintaining consistency and quality across all development initiatives
- Continuously lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of modern technology stacks, frameworks, and platforms for application development
- Champion best practices in software design patterns, application architecture patterns, microservice architecture, and API-first development approaches
- Implement fit-for-purpose delivery methodologies tailored to different project types, complexity levels, and business requirements to optimize development speed and quality
- Work with Digital Leadership Team to adopt Agile transformation for software engineering delivery. Establish and operationalize Agile pod teams to accelerate delivery and improve quality
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing engineering teams across onshore (Hong Kong) and offshore locations
- Establish clear career development paths and growth opportunities for team members at all levels
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the engineering organization
- Work with Digital Leadership Team for the strategy and lead the execution for establishing offshore development centers to scale engineering capabilities
- Design operating models and governance structures for seamless collaboration between onshore and offshore teams
- Establish standardized processes, tools, and communication protocols to ensure consistent delivery quality across all locations
- Manage vendor relationships and partnerships to support offshore development initiatives
- Ensure knowledge transfer and capability building in offshore locations
- Drive the adoption of AI-powered development tools and automation solutions to enhance engineering productivity and code quality
- Implement and optimize software development lifecycle processes, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies
- Establish metrics and KPIs to measure engineering productivity, quality, and team performance
- Lead initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve overall system maintainability and scalability
- Promote the adoption of modern development practices including test-driven development, pair programming, and code reviews
- Partner closely with business, DevOps, security, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions and delivery roadmap, and ensure quality delivery
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Minimum 12+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5+ years in management roles
- Strong background in enterprise-scale application architecture design and implementation
- Track record of successful large-scale system migrations and modernization projects
- Proven track record of establishing and managing offshore development centers
- Demonstrated experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams of 50+ members across multiple locations
- Extensive experience in managing and uplifting large, distributed teams in complex organizational environments
- Demonstrated experience in establishing and running Agile pod teams with measurable improvements in delivery speed and quality
- Experience implementing fit-for-purpose delivery methodologies across diverse project portfolios
- Deep understanding of modern software architecture patterns, application architecture frameworks, cloud-native technologies, microservices, and integration technologies at enterprise grade.
- Expertise in enterprise software development frameworks and tools
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AliCloud) and containerization technologies
- Experience with AI/ML platforms and automation tools for software development
- Proficiency in DevSecOps practices and modern software delivery pipelines
- Understanding of data architecture, APIs, and integration patterns
- Experience with Agile methodologies, and proven track record of establishing and leading Agile pod teams across multiple business domains
- Experience designing and implementing fit-for-purpose delivery approaches based on project complexity, risk, and business requirements
- Strong people management and team building capabilities

This role will lead a team of Software Engineering Managers for software engineering activities to deliver large-scale, complex projects with a focus on high-quality, value-driven software solutions as part of the Software Development lifecycle. Also, be a key bridge between technical teams and business/project stakeholders, ensuring solutions align with customer/project needs and strategic objectives while maintaining high quality, scalability, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities
Software Architecture & Engineering Leadership

About The Role
- Reporting to Head of Liability Driven Investment Solutions and Strategic Initiatives, within Investment-ALM Department.
- Support management of hedge programme, development of Investment strategy along with timely delivery of other strategic Investment-ALM initiatives.
- Oversee the functioning of Par Fund and Non-Par Fund Management to provide optimal and sustainable solution from an Investment-ALM perspective.
- Manage analytical studies including financial projections and modelling approach related to hedging and other investment strategy analysis, including impact on investment return, risk metrics, capital, embedded value, IFRS and PRE analysis.
- Identify and propose enhancement opportunities for hedge strategies, investment strategy, SAA and other ALM initiatives, and lead cross-functional engagement as needed including stakeholder management for approval and ongoing management.
- Design and implement tools (including guiding juniors as applicable) for asset liability position monitoring, analysis and financial metrics projection related to hedging or other Investment-ALM related initiatives.
- Design, prepare and potentially present management information (MI) related to Investment-ALM matters for relevant committees.
- Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet operational and/or other requirements.
- Ensure the compliance of various capital and risk management requirement from Group Office and regulator on daily work.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders including within Investment, Actuarial, Risk, Finance, Group colleagues as well as external service providers such as asset managers, investment banks, etc.
- University / College graduate in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Financial Mathematics or relevant subject plus at least 10 years of relevant experience
- Sound analytical and people skills.
- Good communication, presentation and project management skills.
- Possess business acumen, be innovative and self-driven.
- Ability to deal with and handle multiple and changing priorities.

Our entire Product team sits in Bangkok.
In this role, you’ll get to:
- Analyze the online travel ecosystem, markets, competitive landscape and user requirements
- Conceptualize, launch and optimize products and features, experiment, test their performance and iterate quickly
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Marketing, Legal and UX teams on cutting-edge technologies
- Develop innovative solutions to some of the world’s difficult problems by collaborating as needed across regions, product areas, and functions
- 8+ years of Product Management experience
- Proven ability to leverage analytics and quantitative methods to inform and influence decision-making
- Strong data skills
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written in English) with proven ability to convey complex messages clearly and with conviction to different stakeholders
- Experience developing and launching products
- Experience leading global product vision, go-to-market strategy and design discussions
- Entrepreneurial and analytical skills; effective at breaking down complex problems and driving and managing change
- Hands-on mentality
- MBA or Master’s degree in Math, Economics, Computer Science or Statistics
- Data tools – SQL, Python, R, or equivalent

This role is Bangkok-based , Relocation Provided. Principal Product Managers are analytical and data-driven individuals, who’re responsible for building products end-to-end focusing on analyzing and experimenting until our solutions are perfectly tailored to our travelers. As our next Principal Product Manager, you will drive product strategy and partner closely with senior leadership cross-functionally to define, build, and deliver the best travel solutions.
You will get dedicated engineering resources that you, and only you define and allocate.
