Responsibilities- Collect medical samples such as blood, tissue, and other exempt human specimens from designated collection points according to the scheduled route.
- Verify sample labeling, documentation, and chain-of-custody records.
- Ensure all samples are transported under required temperature and safety conditions using insulated transport boxes via public transport.
- Arrange for samples to be delivered securely to overseas diagnostic laboratories within specified timeframes.
- Return documents, reports, or other materials from the lab to clinics as required.
- Adhere to infection control, biohazard handling, and transport regulations in line with Department of Health and WHO/IATA guidelines.
- Report any incidents, delays, or sample integrity concerns immediately to supervisors.
- Perform daily vehicle checks and maintain transportation equipment in good order.
- Support any ad-hoc logistics or transport duties as assigned by the laboratory.
- Prior experience as a courier or messenger preferred; medical transport experience is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with Hong Kong’s street network and major hospitals/clinics.
- Basic understanding of infection control and safe handling of biological samples (training will be provided).
- Physically fit, with the ability to lift and handle sample containers.
- Good communication skills; Cantonese preferred, with basic English considered an advantage.
- Responsible, punctual, and dependable.
- Field-based role with the majority of time spent on the road.
- May involve carrying insulated boxes for sample transport.
- Exposure to hospital and clinic environments.

As a key member of HKUST Library’s Research & Learning Support team, dedicated to enhancing information literacy, research workflows, and academic success for students and researchers through innovative library services, the appointee will assist in:
- Designing, developing, and delivering engaging information and digital literacy learning programs face to face or online.
- Create appealing content for learning and community outreach, including videos, interactive games, quizzes, and posters.
- Collect and analyze library data, including learning assessments, to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Contribute to the organization and management of scholarly outputs and other research support services.
- RLS unit administration, including office management, library classes, information services, student helper supervision, and outreach activities.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years’ relevant work experience or a Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent.
- Strong motivation, proactivity, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) is an advantage.
Desirable Qualifications
- Academic background or experience in creative media, or data analysis and visualization will be an advantage.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva) and/or programming languages (e.g., Python) is highly desirable.
- A portfolio showcasing visuals, e-learning content, or related work is strongly preferred.
Candidates with a keen interest in information literacy, visual learning, information visualization, or research management and less experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.

Job Description
+ With strong arithmetic and problem-solving abilities, applicants in this position will need to efficiently manage workflow to provide high-quality support to laboratory management
+ Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for managers and supervisors
+ Maintain and update laboratory files, records, and databases
+ Handle incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and mail
+ Manage lab supplies inventory and place orders when necessary
+ Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
+ Provide general support for visitors and employees
+ Organize and facilitate company events and meetings
+ Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless operations
+ Monitor Laboratory expenditures and assist in budget preparation
+ May procure equipment or materials/supplies on behalf of the laboratory
+ Read and follow the UL Standards of Business Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices
+ Performs other duties as directed
+ Higher Secondary Education or above
+ Generally three to five years or more of related experience or demonstrated competence
+ Good knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
+ Language abilities: Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English
+ Good time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
+ Good organizational skills and attention to detail
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills, and a passion for supporting the team's success
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
+ Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
+ Familiarity with office equipment (e.g., printers and fax machines)
+ Able to think on their feet and work well under pressure while meeting demanding standards
+ Basic knowledge of common laboratory tests and equipment used within the conformity assessment industry
+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as operations, maintenance and procedure manuals
