Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and driven Backend Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Hong Kong. In this role, you will provide engineering support across all Animoca Brands projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and high-performance backend solutions. You will play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend infrastructure that powers our diverse portfolio of blockchain games and digital platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and APIs for multiple Animoca Brands projects
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features and enhancements
• Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of backend services
• Optimize and refactor existing codebases for performance and maintainability
• Integrate with cloud services (AWS, RDS, Redis, Postgres) and manage cloud infrastructure as needed
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across various projects
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in backend development and cloud services
  
  
  

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong backend engineering skills with hands-on experience in Node.js, PHP, Spring, and Scala
• Proficiency in cloud services: AWS, Postgres, RDS, Redis
• Experience with Golang and Python is highly desirable
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and database management
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll primarily be developing and maintaining features for our API and internal tools. In this role, you will be the backbone to every product; optimising new and existing algorithms that make our operations run smoothly. You will be design, implement, and launch scalable systems to build new products, features, and services as well as improve existing ones. As Lalamove continues its rapid expansion, our products must be able to support the growth coming from our users, drivers, and orders.

What you'll do:

• Work on a cross functional team to develop and enhance Lalamove core products
• Design and build features in backend microservices
• Write high quality maintainable and testable code
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to delight our customers
• Work along with developers to drive code quality, knowledge sharing, and development

What you'll Need:

• 4+ years hand-on experience in Backend development (Preferably in Java with basic exposure on PHP / GoLang) with University graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields
• Sound Knowledge of middlewares such as Redis/ElasticSearch/Kafka/RabbitMQ, etc
• Care about code quality, not just your own code but the whole project.
• Experienced in code refactoring
• Can-do attitude. Not afraid of critical/difficult issues.
• Enthusiastic about backend, API microservice technologies
• Positive energy, Ability to work independently, Good communication, willing to help team members
• Experience with Redis, MySQL or other SQL solutions
• Be flexible, grow, and learn quickly in a startup environment
