Service Line Overview
This opportunity is for a high-calibre professional to join our Banking Advisory Team as a Manager with emphasis on the growth and enhancement of our Banking Sector in Hong Kong. The role involves a close working relationship with the
Head of Banking and the sector management team, focusing on strategic development and the execution of our account management programmes.
In this role, you'll collaborate with the Head of Banking and sector management to create and implement in-depth strategies that drive the growth of accounts and advance the sector. Your responsibilities will include offering proactive support to key account teams, fostering the development and management of essential banking relationships, and taking charge of strategic initiatives. You will represent the entirety of KPMG’s services, working diligently to build and maintain value-driven business relationships within the banking sector. Furthermore, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of the trends and challenges within this sector, including regulatory knowledge to provide internal and external insights with relevant solutions that meet their unique business needs.
The objective is to represent the full range of KPMG services and develop and maintain profitable business relationships across accounts in the sector. In addition to sector knowledge, you will need to learn and understand our clients’ issues in
the sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership Contribution: Partner with KPMG's banking leadership to enhance the firm's market presence, playing a key role in strategic planning and execution while acting as the knowledge hub for the banking sector.
- Sector Strategy Development and Implementation: Work in close alignment with the Banking Sector Leader to develop and implement comprehensive strategies across all functions within the firm.
- High-Level Coordination and Planning: Organize senior leadership meetings, managing the agenda-setting, and preparation of insightful materials, while also guiding the annual sector planning process with the leadership team.
- Market Intelligence and Business Development: Maintain current industry knowledge to support priority banking accounts in go-to-market strategies and client engagements, and ensure the banking sector portal reflects up-to-date credentials and client materials.
- Budget Oversight and Resource Management: Oversee the annual business development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, while also managing onboarding processes for staff and liaising with procurement teams on key banking accounts.
- Client Relationships and Internal Collaboration: Champion KPMG's Client Care Programme within the banking sector, driving the collection of key credentials, and coordinating with Markets team for sector-focused marketing and event initiatives.
- Regional Collaboration & Client Relationship Management: Work with teams across Hong Kong, China, and ASPAC to implement and monitor client relationship strategies with Client Service Teams, enhancing stakeholder engagement through tailored touch points.
- Service Knowledge & Opportunity Identification: Develop a comprehensive understanding of KPMG's offerings to align initiatives with client needs and uncover new business opportunities for account teams.
- Internal Networking & Expertise Leverage: Cultivate a robust firm-wide network, connecting the right expertise to client requirements and contributing insights to the broader Markets community.
- Sector Community Engagement & Pipeline Oversight: Support the development of KPMG China's banking community with regular updates and town halls, while managing the sector's business pipeline and coordinating pipeline meetings.
- University graduate with at least 5 years relevant experience
- Background in a professional services/ financial services / banking organisation would be an advantage
- Strong organizational skills, detail-conscious, pro-active, hard-working, and resilient
- Self-driven and creative with the ability to take on multiple activities and tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with flexibility to adapt to different working styles of senior stakeholders.
- Strong Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and MS office suite is essential.
- Proven people and project management skills

- Fluent in English and Mandarin. Cantonese is desirable

Work you'll do
- Lead team to solve business problems and deliver and implement tailored solutions by leveraging domain expertise and industry knowledge
- Assisting clients with policy, framework, regulation, process, methodology, models and systems related to different risks and regulatory requirements
- Ability to design and deliver data driven offering solutions, lead and guide team on establishing proactive risk solutions by applying Deloitte's methodology, frameworks, processes, assets, and tools
- Support and deliver Risk Advisory projects and being responsible for producing high quality project deliverables as per the expected scope and timelines
- Support business development including sales bidding processes and contract management

- Professional qualification(s) such as CPA, FRM, CFA or equivalent are preferred
- Solid knowledge in any and/or combined of the following areas: internal audit, operational process design and improvement, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, risk and control transformation, regulatory compliance and operational resilience
- Industry experience from leading advisory firms/banks/insurers/exchanges/regulators/credit agencies//brokerage/private equity/asset management
- International working experience in multiple regions would be an advantage
- Experience in working across complex matrix environments; the ideal individual should also be international in their outlook as well as culturally sensitive
- Familiarity with the evolving and complex regulatory environment in the context of financial institutions

About The Business
We help clients manage regulatory compliance, enforcement actions, financial crime, and other regulatory investigation related matters (excluding the practice of law). Work you'll do
- Apply deep knowledge of disruptive trends and subject matter expertise to drive continuous improvement and implement new/relevant solutions
- Assisting clients with policy, framework, regulation, process, methodology, models and systems related to different risks and regulatory requirements
- Ability to guide the team and client through in-depth knowledge of business solutions and/or relevant Deloitte methodologies and assets to make recommendations that enable client's transformation journey
- Support and deliver Risk Advisory projects and being responsible for producing high quality project deliverables as per the expected scope and timelines
- Support business development including sales bidding processes and contract management

- 10 – 14 years of relevant working experience in insurance either in consulting or corporate, experience in handling high impact and complex projects across borders/functions in a dynamic environment will be a definite advantage
- Professional qualification(s) such as CPA, FRM, CFA or equivalent are preferred
- Solid knowledge in any and/or of the following areas: internal audit, operational process design and improvement, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, risk and control transformation, regulatory compliance and operational resilience
- Industry experience from leading advisory, firms/banks/insurers/exchanges/regulators/credit agencies//brokerage/private equity/asset management
- International working experience in multiple regions would be an advantage
- Experience in working across complex matrix environments; the ideal individual should also be international in their outlook as well as culturally sensitive
- Familiarity with the evolving and complex regulatory environment in the context of financial institutions
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to gain the confidence and respect of senior executives
- Fluency in written and spoken business English; fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua and written Chinese are essential and highly preferred
- Capability to support transformation and change and work with enthusiasm, drive and effectiveness
