An exclusive role to recruit for for a Head of Banks, Financial Institutions to join a large established bank and lead the FI Department to achieve business targets and execute adhoc projects of the department.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead a small team and be responsible to drive revenue from Banks business (in particulary PRC Banks) and align with Financial Institutions Department and to implement action plans for achieving business targets of the Department;
- Understand Correspondent Banks’ transaction banking business needs in order to accommodate their specific needs and interests
- To ensure the F.I. Banks portfolio are in strict compliance of the Bank’s credit policies;
- To approve credit exposures of counterparties according to the delegated authority;
- To work closely with other departments and stakeholders and to support / accommodate their respective business needs in order to accomplish business targets for the Bank;
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers with key FIs and regulators
- Keep up-to-date with market competitive dynamics and industry conditions that impact opportunity and portfolio performance
- Comply with all applicable regulations, rules, codes, guidelines and standards set by regulators and the Bank, and carry out duties with high integrity;
Requirements
- 12+ years’ Corporate banking (FI) experience from leading international banks
- Experience in motivating teams and managing people across borders, setting and achieving goals to drive a high performance culture
- Preferably over 5 years experience in leading a team for achieving the business targets for the department;
- Strong knowledge in correspondent banking / treasury / clearings related products;
- Strong leadership skills and communication skills in English and Mandarin;
- Mature, high caliber and be able to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and run workstreams and projects with limited oversight
- Support the S&O Mainland and Greater China banking team in developing industry relationships, designing go-to-market propositions and strategies, and supporting delivering strategic and transformational projects, including project management, process review and design including implementation
- Support the identification, pursuit and conversion of a pipeline of business development opportunities
- Driving client presentations, including material development and vetting
- Generate hypotheses and drive the storyboarding process
- Produce client ready deliverables that require limited review
- Review of data and analytics, including basic financial modelling, to support implementation projects
- Develop solutions to complex problems and challenge the thinking of more senior colleagues and clients
- Liaise effectively with clients whilst working on engagements and act as an ‘ambassador’ for KPMG
- Develop rapport and working relationships with junior clients and maintain them outside of engagements
- Actively develop own knowledge and expertise across Banking, Wealth and Asset Management
- Be a strong and effective team player
- 3-5 years of relevant experience working with Mainland and Greater China financial institutions in any of the below capacities:
- Strategy and operations consulting experience in leading strategy or management consultancies
- Corporate strategy / Corporate development / M&A team within a financial institution
- Internal Project / Consulting team within a financial institution
- Degree from a leading institution
- Strong slide structuring and writing capabilities
- Evidence of project management/workstream leadership
- Knowledge of wealth management operations and/or compliance
- Research skills, including market research and regulatory review
- Project management experience in regulatory / operational / TOM-like projects
- Project management certification and knowledge of Agile delivery will be an advantage
- Analytical mindset, intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, and creativity
- Confidence, people skills, ambition and pragmatism
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, Mandarin and Cantonese
- Experience working in Mainland China is highly preferred

- Working with senior bankers in originating, structuring and executing financing and advisory transactions across various products including M&As, IPOs, bonds, loans and structured products
- Building and using complex financial models, competing valuation and analytical exercises for pitches and live projects
- Executing transaction: supporting due diligence, document preparation, negotiation etc. and liaising with relevant counterparties at the client / other advisers (lawyers, accountants, legal etc.)
- Interacting with senior team members and client management teams to execute transactions and identifying and managing all risks in a given deal
- Drafting presentation materials, management presentations, board materials, memorandums and other presentation materials for use in M&A and capital markets transactions or strategic client dialogue
- Keeping abreast of key market developments, establishing knowledge base in FIG sector, and developing content for maximum client impact
- Guiding, reviewing and coordinating the analytic work of junior bankers to move marketing / execution process forward
- Providing leadership and mentorship in guiding and training junior bankers and research analysts
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance/Economics or a related field from a top tier educational institution
- Minimum 3 years of relevant investment banking experience
- Strong accounting, finance, quantitative and business writing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects with excellent analytical and decision-making capabilities
- Understands transaction cycle and the steps in the process and is execution oriented
- Impeccable communication details with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders in other lines of business
- Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, team-based environment
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Mandarin

Key Elements Of The Job
Supporting the investment banking team in day-to-day work regarding pitching and transaction execution.
Key Task Including
- Leading and coordinating on IBD project execution
- Assist in marketing and project origination
- Process IBD and internal relevant documentations
- Due diligence and financial analysis
- Preparation of marketing material and internal documentation
- Assist in project execution for both corporate finance and GCM transactions
- Handle ad hoc tasks from time to time
- Degree holder in Accounting, Finance, Statistics academic or para-legal related background
- Preferable Professional qualification of CPA or CFA
- Preferable working experience with ECM or Corporate Finance experience.
- Holder of SFC licenses is optional
- Experience in project execution and good command of documentation
- Proficiency in English ,Mandarin and/ or Cantonese - writing and conversation
- Sensitive to numbers and ability to understand financial statement
- Good Team player

The Quality Control (International) team (“QC”) of the Investment Banking Department reports to the Global Head of Quality Control and the Head of Investment Banking Department (International). QC provides technical support and assist in effectively monitoring and controlling business risks of the Investment Banking Department. You will be responsible for improving the execution quality of Hong Kong and overseas investment banking business by conducting independent review of various transaction documents and due diligence.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Reviewing, maintaining and improving internal quality control policy and framework, transaction approval process and the relevant IT system.
- Reviewing due diligence performed by deal teams and the underlying due diligence record.
- Reviewing and approving various transaction documents.
- Assessing the regulatory and business risk of investment banking transactions, and reporting to senior management where necessary.
- Organizing and participating in internal committee meetings which consider the acceptance and launch of investment banking transactions.
- Conducting research, internal statistics and other ad-hoc tasks as required from time to time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above.
- At least 5 years’ relevant working experience in global investment banks, law firms or big four audit firms with knowledge of various financial products and regulations of the capital markets and securities companies in Hong Kong and overseas.
- Experience in overseas capital markets is a plus.
- Good communication and coordination skills, with excellent team spirit, conscientious and meticulous, strong sense of responsibility and stress tolerance.
- Good command of spoken and written English and Mandarin, using English and Mandarin as working language.
