School of Biomedical Engineering

The School of Biomedical Engineering (“SBME”) is a new endeavour of the University. It is a joint project of the Faculties of Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry and Science, and aspires to be a global nexus for interdisciplinary collaboration across engineering, clinical sciences and biomedical sciences. It aims to transform healthcare practice by advancing the frontier in medical instrumentation, biomaterials, diagnostic and therapeutic devices, robotics, AI-augmentation, and other groundbreaking technologies. It is committed to developing innovative and high-quality academic programmes at all levels, suitable for nurturing the next generation of biomedical engineering professionals.

The Role

The Inaugural Director Of SBME Is Expected To

Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to the School, ensuring that it aligns with the academic missions of HKU and the participating Faculties.
Ensure the development of and adherence to the highest international standards in research and teaching.
Foster interdisciplinary collaborations for developing biomedical engineering innovations that translate into major changes in clinical practice.
Recruit world-class talents in biomedical engineering and build and mentor a critical mass of top researchers across all levels.
Lead an active research group and facilitate cutting-edge research and collaborations within the biomedical engineering field both at HKU and with local and international partners.
Oversee the development and continuous improvement of undergraduate and graduate biomedical engineering programs to ensure they meet the highest international standards.
Secure public and private research funds and drive the commercialization of research through techno-entrepreneurship and spin-off companies.
Enhance global connections and align with international standards in the biomedical engineering field.

Qualifications And Qualities

Qualified candidates should possess the following:

PhD and/or MD degree in Biomedical Engineering, or in STEM-related fields.
Distinguished record of academic achievements and international recognition in research, scholarship and teaching.
Proven record of visionary leadership and broad high-level administrative experience, preferably in a prominent research institution.
Demonstrated ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and drive innovation in research and teaching.
Strong international network and experience in securing research funding, with a successful track record in institutional fundraising and enhancing international visibility.
Commitment to and track record in advancing health and well-being through innovative biomedical engineering solutions.

Compensation And Benefits

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered alongside annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract University contributions to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.

The Job

Report to Senior Service Manager
Team work in Service team of 8-10 service engineers/technicians
You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain medical equipment and products on-site in hospitals, healthcare centres and elderly centres.etc in Hong Kong
Perform installation, maintenance, repairs, and testing of Company's range of medical equipment.
Conduct routine scheduled servicing (both preventative and reactive).
Ensure systems are installed to full working capacity, and operators are informed about operating and emergency procedures.
Provide technical solutions professionally and within agreed timeframes.
Maintain accurate records of spare parts in the service ERP system.
Uphold safety and integrity standards for all serviced products in accordance with company policies.
Diploma in Engineering / Building Services.or related
2+ year technical/service/engineering experience in any products preferably in machinery/equipment/devices
Experienec in building services with engineering background will also be suitable
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
Product training will be provided

We are looking for ASSISTANT SERVICE ENGINEER - with details as follows :

The Job

Report to Senior Service Manager
Team work in Service team of 8-10 service engineers/technicians
You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain medical equipment and products on-site in hospitals, healthcare centres and elderly centres.etc in Hong Kong
Perform installation, maintenance, repairs, and testing of Company's range of medical equipment.
Conduct routine scheduled servicing (both preventative and reactive).
Ensure systems are installed to full working capacity, and operators are informed about operating and emergency procedures.
Provide technical solutions professionally and within agreed timeframes.
Maintain accurate records of spare parts in the service ERP system.
Uphold safety and integrity standards for all serviced products in accordance with company policies.
Diploma in Engineering / Building Services.or related
2+ year technical/service/engineering experience in any products preferably in machinery/equipment/devices
Experienec in building services with engineering background will also be suitable
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
Product training will be provided
13 months salary + performance bonus
Annual leave : 14 days

The Job

Report to Service Director
Work in Service team of 10-12 service engineers
You will support the day-to-day operations of our maintenance services, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality service to our customers. Your efforts will help uphold our standards of excellence and drive continuous improvement across our service delivery.
Monitor and report on the quality of service provided by the service engineers to our customers.
Ensure that the maintenance service providing is fulfilling the contract requirement and standards.
Organise regular technical training and assessment to service engineers
Follow-up and check for the root causes of outstanding repair work orders.
Provide emergency inspection and assessment for reported incident cases.
Assist with implementing the preventive maintenance program to customer, to ensure schedule is adhered to and report submission are in timely manner.
Prepare regular service performance reports and present to customers
Provide valuable suggestions for the improvement of the service organisation.
Degree in Engineering preferably in Biomedical/Medical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field
6+ years engineering / technical experience; of which 2+ years in medical equipment/device/machinery
Experience in medical equipment repairing is a definite advantage.
Excellent technical knowledge, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Analytical skills for reviewing and identifying key actions to drive continuous improvements.
A passion for building strong customer relationships and delivering excellent service.
Computer literacy, proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Adherence to OH&S guidelines, including infection control policies.
13 months salary + performance bonus
Annual leave : 14 days
