Job Overview:
Our client is seeking experienced Business Analysts with expertise in life insurance and core policy administration to support process documentation efforts. The role involves gathering business requirements, collaborating with stakeholders across various insurance departments, and developing an insurance reference architecture and service catalog for consumption.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather inputs and develop an insurance service catalog. Document the as-is insurance process architecture, process models, and controls.
  • Create clear, concise documentation detailing process steps, requirements, and user stories or functional specifications for core insurance processes, including New Business & Policy Setup, Policy Owned Services, Claims, Billing & Collection.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, and data dictionaries.
  • Identify process gaps, pain points, and areas for improvement in processes and systems, aiming to enhance operational efficiency within the insurance domain.
  • Provide regular project status updates, clearly communicate requirements, and effectively manage stakeholder expectations.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • At least 5 years experience in insurance process engineering and transformation projects as Business Analyst or Consultant.
  • Strong understanding of core insurance processes, including New Business & Policy Setup, Policy Owned Services, Claims, Billing & Collection.
  • Experience working in Agile methodologies, with proficiency in project tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Redmine) and wireframing tools (e.g., Figma).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in both English and Cantonese, will liaise with Cantonese speaking stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in business analysis, insurance, or related domains is a plus.

  • Contribute to managing accounts; build relationships in support of customer/ business acquisition and retention (e.g. by handling a range of queries, providing advice to assist with the development of an account; implementing agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, thereby maintaining underwriting discipline
  • Timely update and use of Underwriting Scorecards and other MI tools & processes to proactively manage and improve the portfolios mix & performance and pipelines management

Job Qualifications

  • Degree holder
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in General Insurance program
  • Good multi-lines underwriting knowledge mainly on Property & Casualty business
  • Good knowledge & experience in evaluating middle market exposures as well as directing and assisting others in analyzing unusual risks
  • Experience & knowledge in negotiating mid-market deals; demonstrate in-depth experience with middle market customers and delivering customer service options
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and overcoming difficult issues with brokers and creating and delivering programs for addressing the needs of multiple or large producers
  • To be a team player
  • Fluency in English & Cantonese; Mandarin-speaking is an added advantage
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and selling skills – internal and external - Ability to develop strong relationships with key business partners whilst maximizing Company’s profitable growth objective
  • Ability to build trust & business relationships with customers and producers.
  • Open mind to try new ways and alternative approaches of doing things

  • Responsible for multi-lines business but mainly to focus on Property & Casualty portfolios KPIs performance of the Hong Kong Business Unit focusing on Mid-Market domestic business
  • Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority levels
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and other distributors in support of business retention and acquisition and work with customers and distributors to determine their insurance related needs & provide solutions, and contribute to the development of propositions
Job Summary
  • Responsible for multi-lines business but mainly to focus on Property & Casualty portfolios KPIs performance of the Hong Kong Business Unit focusing on Mid-Market domestic business
  • Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority levels
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and other distributors in support of business retention and acquisition and work with customers and distributors to determine their insurance related needs & provide solutions, and contribute to the development of propositions
Job Accountabilities
  • Maintain profitable multi-lines underwriting for Mid-market portfolios and provide training to other associates including the administrative assistant
  • Apply all Underwriting elements for new business & renewals in handling the assignments of the highest complexity and works within delegated authorities, measuring exposure & analyzing risk, determining technical price according to certified/agreed pricing process, quoting & setting coverage, negotiating terms & conditions
  • Contribute to managing accounts; build relationships in support of customer/ business acquisition and retention (e.g. by handling a range of queries, providing advice to assist with the development of an account; implementing agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, thereby maintaining underwriting discipline
  • Timely update and use of Underwriting Scorecards and other MI tools & processes to proactively manage and improve the portfolios mix & performance and pipelines management
Job Qualifications
  • Degree holder
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in General Insurance program
  • Good multi-lines underwriting knowledge mainly on Property & Casualty business
  • Good knowledge & experience in evaluating middle market exposures as well as directing and assisting others in analyzing unusual risks
  • Experience & knowledge in negotiating mid-market deals; demonstrate in-depth experience with middle market customers and delivering customer service options
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and overcoming difficult issues with brokers and creating and delivering programs for addressing the needs of multiple or large producers
  • To be a team player
  • Fluency in English & Cantonese; Mandarin-speaking is an added advantage
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and selling skills – internal and external - Ability to develop strong relationships with key business partners whilst maximizing Company’s profitable growth objective
  • Ability to build trust & business relationships with customers and producers.
  • Open mind to try new ways and alternative approaches of doing things
  • Self-starter, proactive, results and execution oriented
  • Candidates with more solid Underwriting experiences will be considered for other positions

What You Will Do:

  • Work with clients and technical resources to identify their business problems and develop the right approach and analytical solution
  • Plan and design simple to semi-complex business processes and system modifications
  • Make recommendations to improve and support business activities
  • Gather business requirements through a variety of techniques such as work sessions and interviews then analyze and document client complex business requirements and processes; communicate these requirements to appropriate parties
  • Create complex test case scenarios to be used in testing; monitor/oversee the testing of business applications to verify that all client requirements are incorporated into the system design
  • Develop business requirements documents/user stories to support the required modifications
  • May plan, allocate and monitor work of other business analysts
  • Understand simple to complex systems and related data to surface actionable insights, demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Assist in providing time estimates for project related tasks
  • Aid in updating process and procedural documentation
  • Develop basic understanding of technical development cycle of mobile application or web portals
  • Support QA, UAT and Release phases of the project via defect analysis, change maintenance, etc
  • Any other task that may be assigned

What We Need:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Business Analyst
  • A degree in Business, IT or any relevant field
  • Previous experience working in the insurance industry is required (Insurtech or health insurance experience is preferred)
  • Health Insurance-related domain certification from INS/LOMA or III is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of business analysis concepts of defining requirements, translating to technical solutions, and Agile approach to prioritizing work to epics, sprints
  • Business analysis skills including facilitation, process documentation, requirements gathering and user acceptance testing
  • Good organizational/time management skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines within defined timeframes
  • Experience in an Agile and/or Scrum environment is a must
  • Basic knowledge in generating process documentation, and document system functionality, data integration, and workflow
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Technical writing skills are a plus
  • Must be able to speak in Cantonese fluently
  • Must be based in Malaysia or Hong Kong
