Department of Applied Social Sciences

Cluster / Hospital / Department :Community & Patient Resource Department / Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital / Hong Kong East Cluster

Pay : HK$26,908 to HK$50,373 (HGPS Pt 9 – Pt 21) per month including Monthly Allowance

Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff at the end of each 3 years during the 9-year contract period subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1.  To organize empowerment and psychosocial programs for patients and carers in Cancer Patient Resource Centres.

2.  To support volunteer services including recruitment, training, service matching & recognition.

3.  To nurture mutual support networks.

4.  To assist networking projects with community partners.

5.  To perform any job-related duties assigned by seniors.

Entry Requirements:

1.  A diploma in Social Work from a local academic institution or equivalent.

2.  Registration with and a valid registration certificate issued by the Hong Kong Social Workers Registration Board.

3.  Fluency in written English and Chinese as well as spoken English and Cantonese.

Preferred Attributes:

1.  (a)    Grade E in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent.

OR

(b)    Level 2 in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education, or equivalent.

2.  Professional background of psychology and counseling is preferable.

  1. Proficient in using group work skill & virtual technology in programs.

  2. Good communication skills.

  3. Creativity and efficiency.

2.  The selected candidate will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment for a period up to 29 May 2027 depending on his/her existing employment terms.

3.  This post is time-limited in nature. The renewal / extension of appointment will be subject to service needs, availability of funding and job performance.

4.  Equivalent qualifications are those recognised for registration with the Social Workers Registration Board.

5.  Candidate may be advised to approach the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) for assessment on equivalent qualifications, if in doubt.
