Our client is looking for a Cargo Handling System Engineer to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the maintenance and routine engineering tasks for the company's cargo handling system, ensuring proper upkeep and emergency repairs of other equipment as needed.
• Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for urgent equipment repairs, providing detailed work arrangements to relevant parties.
• Collaborate with user departments to identify and prioritize equipment repairs, ensuring defects are addressed effectively and efficiently.
• Work closely with the Property Management Section to facilitate urgent facility repairs, ensuring adherence to performance standards.
• Provide regular updates to supervisors regarding work progress and critical issues impacting equipment performance and service quality.
• Supervise team members in carrying out maintenance tasks in compliance with established engineering standards, timelines, safety protocols, and legal requirements.
• Monitor stock levels of spare parts, materials, and tools, ensuring their appropriate usage and timely replenishment.
• Prepare regular reports on equipment performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role or contractor management position.
• High Diploma or above in in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Marine Engineering.
• Familiarity with Cargo Handling Systems (CHS), Material Handling Systems (MHS), or industrial automation control systems such as PLC logic and SCADA control is advantageous.
• Willingness to work on shift schedules, including overnight shifts.

Key Duties

• Ensure proper maintenance and routine engineering works of company's cargo handling system, and emergency repairing of other equipment.
• Arrange contractors / suppliers for emergency equipment repair and provide work arrangement details to concerned parties.
• Liaise with user departments to identify and prioritize equipment repair to ensure defects are rectified in a most effective manner.
• Liaise with Property Management Section for urgent repair of facilities to ensure the performance pledge is met.
• Report work progress and events to supervisor for all critical work affecting equipment performance and service standard.
• Supervise subordinates to carry out maintenance duties by preset engineering and time standards safely, efficiently and legally.
• Perform works control function of the engineering activities.
• Keep regular update of spares / materials / tools stock level, and ensure its proper usage.
• Provide regular equipment performance report and recommendations on improvement.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• 5 years' engineering experience, minimum 3 years' supervisory experience or contractor management experience.
• Experience in Cargo Handling System (CHS), Material Handling System (MHS), industrial automation control related analysis (e.g. PLC logic and SCADA control) is an added advantage.
• Education background in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Marine Engineering.
• Good command of English and Chinese.
• Willing to perform shift duties including overnight shift.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Planning & Analysis

• Assist Engineering Manager in preparing technical and user requirements for large-scale MHS expansion projects to support future business growth.
• Conduct root cause analysis of MHS equipment failures and develop technical solutions.
• Monitor MHS operational performance against SLA; report irregularities and causes of non-compliance.

Project Leadership & Implementation

• Lead projects related to:

• Implement ad hoc enhancement/improvement projects from feasibility study to handover, involving MHS, Facility, and Non-MHS equipment.
• Lead MHS improvement projects aimed at reducing cargo shutouts, lowering costs, minimizing waste, and enhancing health and safety.
• Manage project scope, schedule, and acceptance criteria to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
• Execute engineering-related projects initiated by operations or other departments.
• Coordinate with internal and external parties to minimize operational impact and fulfill specific project requirements.

Strategic Planning & Documentation

• Assist in preparing plans for MHS fallback, airside and warehouse automation, and annual CAPEX budget estimation.
• Prepare and validate training manuals for MHS operations.
• Support data mining activities to identify business growth opportunities and optimize terminal resource utilization.

Operational Support & Compliance

• Provide technical advice to duty EoD regarding MHS issues.
• Ensure consistency and safety in PLC software changes initiated by MHS vendors across the terminal.

Requirements:

• Higher Diploma / Certificate or Degree in Engineering.
• A minimum of 8 years post qualification experience with not less than 2 years at supervisory level.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience on supervising MHS contractors and other trades for operation and maintenance of MHS system.
• Good interpersonal skills and good written and communication skills in both Chinese and English.
• Good knowledge in industrial network communication, proficiency use of Siemens S7 development tools, Good computer knowledge in MS Office.  Good knowledge and skills on computer aid system for system control. Knowledge in using AutoCAD should be an advantage.
• Good knowledge in mechanical and electronic components.
• Good supervisory and motivation skills.
• Minimal supervision and result-oriented.
