Job Summary
Dalton School Hong Kong is seeking a detail-oriented and organized School Accountant to manage the financial operations of our growing institution. The School Accountant will assist in budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with internal controls, ensuring transparency and accuracy in all financial transactions. This role is critical in supporting the school's mission by maintaining sound financial practices and facilitating smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Handle daily accounting duties and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, account reconciliations, and financiorganisedal statements in a timely manner.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing and monitoring the school's annual budget, providing forecasts and variance analyses to support strategic planning.
- Invoice Management and Follow-up: Oversee the issuance of invoices for tuition fees, and other services, follow up outstanding invoices with parents, ensuring timely collection of fees.
- Accounts Payable: Process vendor payments and manage cash flow independently to maintain financial stability.
- Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard school assets and ensure accurate financial tracking, including requiring invoices for all non-DSHK faculty payment requests.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with rules and regulations, including tax filings and audits.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Finance Department, school leadership, and external stakeholders to support financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records for audits, reporting, and future reference.
- Other Duties: Perform assigned ad-hoc duties and supporting tasks.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an educational institution or non-profit organisation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), budgeting, and financial compliance regulations.
Skills and Competencies
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
