This role is an opportunity for a technologist with a passion for Linux and Cloud technologies to build a career with Canonical and drive the success with those leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. The BootStack team designs, builds, and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure for customers. From Kubernetes to OpenStack and everything in-between, you'll be working with the latest technology in a fast-paced engineering environment. As a Cloud Engineering Manager for the BootStack team, you will be responsible for managing the engineers that oversee day-to-day Managed Service of customer environments, including customer service management, managed services operations and consistent product improvement engineering. Collaboration with customers, product engineering, and operations is critical to success.
Location: This is a globally remote role.
The role entails
- Manage a growing engineering team to optimise the quality and velocity of both development and operations
- Identify and measure team health indicators
- Implement disciplined engineering and operations processes
- Represent the BootStack team with respect to stakeholders, customers, and external teams
- Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
- Work to meet service level agreements with customer deployments around the globe
- Deliver quality managed services in a consistent, timely manner
- Bachelors (or equivalent) education in a technology field
- Proven track record of professional experience of either software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar and/or managing operations teams
- Proven experience with OpenStack
- Demonstrated strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
- Experience with Linux system administration, Ubuntu/Debian a plus
- Strong communication and cooperation skills
- Experience with agile software development methodologies
- Experience working in and managing distributed teams
- Technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems
- Experience with cloud topologies and technologies
- Travel to team and company events and customer meetings, roughly 20% or less

For more information, please visit role is part of Cloud Engineering function of Group Infrastructure and Cloud Team, who will have the primary focus to lead the end-to-end implementation of cloud solution for group finance, investment and actuarial operations for group and local BUs
- Work with finance and actuarial team to understand business problems, design and build new cloud-based architecture and solutions, with emphasis on building reliable and stable cloud solutions to support applications that are critical to Finance and Actuarial functions of Group and support all the Bus to adopt to the preferred standard
- Manage and perform cloud to cloud migration to provide resilient, secure and scalable solutions
- Oversee the setup cloud-based infrastructure, leveraging on centrally managed IaC, CI/CD, end-to-end application and infrastructure monitoring tools.
- Drive adoption of best practices and cloud standards imposed by Group by collaborating with other domain experts in Cloud Engineering team Technology on business units.
- Function as the technical liaison from Infra and Cloud team to collaborate closely with Group Enterprise Architecture team, Group Cloud Operations team and business teams for designing and implementing new solutions, and managing BAU operational tasks and challenges
- Lead the cloud engineers and operational support for large scale distributed environment
- Function as the technical domain expertise to work with BUs in designing the solution and implementation approach of strategic technical projects, including but not limited to cloud migration and application and database modernization
- Provide strategic input to Head of Infra and Cloud and Cloud Engineering Lead on the best practices, observations from daily operations, and suggestions to continuously improve team efficiency and quality
- Lead and accountable for the delivery of identified cloud projects and activities and deliver within the agreed timeline with quality.

- B.S. degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering

- This role is part of Cloud Engineering function of Group Infrastructure and Cloud Team, who will have the primary focus to lead the end-to-end implementation of cloud solution for group finance, investment and actuarial operations for group and local BUs
- Supervise the project delivery management for all the key finance and actuarial-related cloud initiatives, accelerating time-to-market adapting to the market and competition, with a strong focus on system stability and reliability, and improve the mean time to recovery on systems that are crucial to finance and actuarial operation.
- Representing Group Cloud and Infrastructure in providing technical advisory services to GO counterparts and BU business team in strategic technical projects.
- Monitor and proactively remediate issues identified in the production system, in order to ensure smooth book closing process every month.
- Lead the diagnosis of the root cause of critical issues, design and implement preventive measures to avoid production incidents
- Lead and design Infrastructure for FWD Cloud Prophet for finance / actuarial team, which contain hundreds of users from FWD Group and 10 BU units
- Work with finance and actuarial team to understand business problems, design and build new cloud-based architecture and solutions, with emphasis on building reliable and stable cloud solutions to support applications that are critical to Finance and Actuarial functions of Group and support all the Bus to adopt to the preferred standard
- Manage and perform cloud to cloud migration to provide resilient, secure and scalable solutions

- Build scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure on AWS, Alibaba Cloud and Private Cloud.
- Implement best practices regarding cloud system security measures, deployment activities, and maintenance procedures.
- End-to-end delivery of cloud projects, including planning, design, development, testing, and deployment stages.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot cloud system issues in a timely manner.
- Support problem resolution or prevention, and ensure the stability and integrity of in-house cloud services.
- Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and trends. Recommend and implement new cloud services as solution to business needs.
- Work closely with other teams (e.g., development, operations, security) to ensure cloud solutions meet HKEX requirement and standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in cloud engineering, including designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based solutions
- Understanding of cloud computing architecture and security best practices
- Knowledge of container orchestration platform such as Kubernetes
- Knowledge of automation and scripting languages such as Python, Terraform, or Ansible
- Experience with DevOps practices e.g. CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and monitoring tools
- Excellent communication with ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cloud Services Engineer to join Cloud Operations team. Our team responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based solution, we also work closely with our development, operations, and security teams to ensure the stability, scalability, and security of our cloud infrastructure.
Job Duties:
Responsibilities:
- Build scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure on AWS, Alibaba Cloud and Private Cloud.
- Implement best practices regarding cloud system security measures, deployment activities, and maintenance procedures.
- End-to-end delivery of cloud projects, including planning, design, development, testing, and deployment stages.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot cloud system issues in a timely manner.
- Support problem resolution or prevention, and ensure the stability and integrity of in-house cloud services.
- Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and trends. Recommend and implement new cloud services as solution to business needs.
- Work closely with other teams (e.g., development, operations, security) to ensure cloud solutions meet HKEX requirement and standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in cloud engineering, including designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based solutions
- Understanding of cloud computing architecture and security best practices
- Knowledge of container orchestration platform such as Kubernetes
- Knowledge of automation and scripting languages such as Python, Terraform, or Ansible
- Experience with DevOps practices e.g. CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and monitoring tools
- Excellent communication with ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Experience with cloud cost optimization and cost management strategies
