The appointee will support the Dean of the School of Creative Media (SCM) and the Director of the Indra and Harry Banga Gallery (BG) as Co-Curator for a major public exhibition (the Project). Main duties include:
Develop and implement a comprehensive curatorial plan for the Project, provisionally titled Power of Play;
Research on a selected list of games and game-related exhibits, and articulate narrative and interpretation for an engaging exhibition;
Conceive creative concepts, artistic direction, and technical enhancement to enrich the exhibition design and its visitor experience;
Liaise with local and international exhibitors, lenders, partners, contributors, and CityUHK internal units for synchronised delivery of the Project;
Support SCM and BG on the project planning, design, installation, opening, and promotion, including time-cost-and-quality control, progress report, and administrative duties as required;
Assist SCM and BG on collateral engagement and educational activities with the Project, such as mini-conference, guided tour, and/or workshop; and
Perform any other duties as assigned.
A PhD/Master's degree with at least 4 years' practical experience in curating an exhibition - either as an emerging independent curator or mid-career curator from an institutional background is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of, and interest in, games and their history, as well as demonstrated intellectual vigour, technological literacy, organisational ability, teamwork and communication skills; and a good command of written and spoken English.
Candidates with a PhD degree or equivalent qualification may be considered for appointment as Postdoctoral Fellow.
