· Collaborate with Relationship Managers in branches to provide professional insurance solution to bank customers

As part of ongoing expansion of our global offering to clients across insurance, shipping, international trade, and commodities, we are recruiting an Associate to join the recently opened Hong Kong office of our Association firm, CK Lee & Co.
Our Hong Kong Insurance Team provides advice to global Insurers and their Insureds across a wide spectrum of classes of insurance but with a particular focus on Financial & Professional Lines and Property/Casualty business. Most of its work consists of advising on coverage and defence of high-value, complex disputes frequently with an international dimension.
We are looking to recruit ideally a 3-5+ PQE Hong Kong-qualified lawyer to join the Team and support our drive to become the go-to Insurance firm in the region. The right candidate will gain exposure to a wide variety of cases, client contacts and working closely with senior lawyers management- whilst working in an environment that provides a large degree of autonomy and an excellent work/life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing caseload and/or supporting Partners and colleagues on larger complex insurance claims.
- Analysing and applying legal principles and facts to derive technically sound, commercial strategies for complex cases and insurance policy issues.
- Drafting and reviewing correspondence, reports and litigation documents.
- Maintaining caseload in good organisational shape and in accordance with client quality and service level agreements.
- Developing an understanding of the client's, and our wider business, and how the two fit together.
- Demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ideally a 3-5+PQE Hong Kong-qualified lawyer with Financial Lines and/or Property Casualty experience, ideally defendant and policy coverage work (although we remain open to those with a broader insurance background).
- Fluent in Cantonese and English - preferably be able to converse in Mandarin too.
- The ability to run your own caseload and work in an autonomous fashion.
- Strong academic record.
- Capable of analysing and applying legal principles to a complex factual scenario, with a view to achieving a commercial resolution for the client.
- Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day-to-day issues.
- The ability to think and act quickly and under pressure for clients who find themselves in crisis.
- Team oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
