The Expert in Technical Support - Data Center Cooling Systems is a critical role responsible for providing expert-level technical support, troubleshooting, and knowledge leadership within the Services Line of Business. This role focuses on ensuring optimal performance and reliability of data center cooling equipment and systems. The Expert will act as a Level 3 escalation point for complex technical issues, coming from field services, partners, and Level 2 support, and drive continuous improvement in service quality. This position also leads technical content development for service representative tools and fosters a strong knowledge-sharing network among technical experts.

Responsibilities:
Expert Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide expert-level technical support for data center cooling equipment and systems, including but not limited to chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, cooling towers, and associated control systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues reported from customer sites, field services, partners, and L2 support.
- Conduct remote and on-site troubleshooting as needed, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Escalate critical issues to engineering or vendor support as required, while maintaining ownership of resolution.
- Provide direct technical support to customers as needed, particularly for critical or escalated issues.
- Maintain a strong understanding of customer needs and expectations.
- Actively participate in customer feedback loops to improve service offerings.
Field Services & Partner Enablement:
- Provide technical guidance and support to field service representatives and partners, enabling them to effectively resolve customer issues.
- Develop and deliver technical training and knowledge transfer sessions to enhance the capabilities of field services and partners.
- Assist in developing and refining service procedures and best practices.
Service Quality Improvement:
- Analyze service data and customer feedback to identify recurring technical issues and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement solutions to enhance service quality, reduce downtime, and improve customer satisfaction.
- Participate in root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Knowledge Management & Content Development:
- Lead the development and maintenance of technical knowledge content for service representative tools, including troubleshooting guides, technical bulletins, and best practice documents.
- Ensure technical content is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible to field services, partners, and L2 support.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of data center cooling systems and troubleshooting techniques.
Expert Network Leadership:
- Build and lead a network of technical experts, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Organize regular technical meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Act as a mentor and provide guidance to L2 technical staff.
- Actively engage with the expert network to engage when needed, gain feedback, and improve the service offering.
Technical Activities Leadership
- Lead all the technical activities related to services execution.
- Ensure all technical activities are executed according to best practices and company guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in technical support, field services, or engineering related to data center cooling systems.
- Extensive knowledge of data center systems and cooling equipment, including chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, cooling towers, and associated control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in developing and delivering technical training.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and operations.
- Experience with building and leading technical expert networks.
- Experience with creating and managing technical documentation.

Position Overview
The Data Center Technician (DCT) is responsible for network monitoring variety of software and hardware services within our data centre infrastructure. The team of DCT's monitor, operate, and report on environmental equipment, including CRAC units, UPS, generator, dry cooler and fire alarm systems, whilst adhering to the company's operational procedures.
Essential Job Functions
- Work under limited supervision, both independently and within a team environment
- Manage multiple one-time and/or ongoing projects
- Engaging with customers and providing them with world class customer service
- Respond to safety and emergency situations and maintain a safe and secure work environment
- Use discretion and judgment in organizing workflow and adapting as priorities are modified due to a changing environment
- Frequent contact with external 3rd party contractors and vendors
Duties
- Provide 24/7 monitoring and management of the data centre infrastructure, ensuring we not only meet SLAs but exceed them via daily checks, captured on internal systems
- Ensure all alarms are monitored continuously through facility systems (PSE/PME/BMS…etc)
- Installation of customer racks and any required accessories into customer data halls, in line with customer requirement and Manager, Data Center Technician's direction
- Installation and testing of customer cabling connections, both structured and one-off connections
- Installation / replacement of customer hardware in line with the customers direction and requirements
- Timely, quality provision of Remote and Intelligent Hands requests
- Complete minor works projects as part of Internal Work Orders (IWOs)
- Oversee and supervise contractor works within Data halls and MMRs
- Ensure that all the shift documentation is completed, legible and accurate
- Manage any incidents or escalations through policies and procedures
- Proactive coverage of the service desk if required
- To provide professional guidance to customers, management and the team in a prompt, courteous and professional manner
- Carry out Audits and inspections of customer environments suggesting remedial works in line with best practice.
- Supporting Vantage's clients through delivery of exceptional customer service
- Identify opportunities to provide additional services to our clients based on their requirements
- Identify opportunities to develop processes to meet business requirements
- Support the Manager, Data Center Technicians in delivering services that are essential to the success of the business
- Ensure DCT Team manning levels are maintained to meet business SLA's
- Delivery/ support of operation report, management report and customer report
Job Requirements
- Experience working in IT related field is preferred
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures related to the communications systems, ticketing systems that are needed to run data centres
- HD in IT, Computer Science or related disciplines
- May be required to complete formal training in an area of specialty Candidates must possess reliable transportation for reporting to work for shifts, or emergencies
- Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training purposes
