Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field; preference for data science, AI, statistics, economics, or quantitative backgrounds.
At least 3 years of relevant management consulting experience and 3 years in data science, advanced modeling, and predictive analytics, or 6 years of professional experience in data science or related delivery services.
Strong expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel (Pivot Tables & Macros) and PowerPoint.
At least 3 years’ experience with predictive analytics tools such as R, SAS, Python, or Spark.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Data Strategist to join our Technology Consulting – Data and Analytics (DnA) team in our Hong Kong office.

Your Key Responsibilities
As a Data Strategist , you will support our clients in defining and implementing their data journey. You will contribute to projects in data-related transformation initiatives.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Data Strategy roadmap development and adoption, including Business Case development working
- Data Governance design
- Data and Analytics Operating Model design
- Lead the pursuit of new Data Strategy, Data Management and Data Governance projects
- Deliver client executive advisory consulting in Data Strategy and Data Governance enablement
- Learn about new data and analytics technology and methods, and how they could be applied for the benefit of our clients
- Lead engagement teams for Data Strategy, Data Management and Data Governance projects; mobilise and manage the project team
- Provide regular performance feedback, coaching and direction to team members regarding career development aligned to their career aspirations
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- At least 10 years’ experience in leading end-to-end value Data and Analytics transformation programs
- Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple levels for both internal and external
- Strong problem-solving skills with proven ability to analyze issues from different perspectives and draw commercially sound recommendations
- Ability to lead business development with a proven track record of achieving consulting sales in the Data & Analytics domain
- Fluency in English, Mandarin or Cantonese preferred
- Exceptional communicational skills to build strong business relationship with senior executives
- Superior internal and external stakeholder management skills with the ability to credibly communicate, negotiate and influence strategic outcomes at C-level executives
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving analytical capabilities as a Data Strategist

Key Responsibilities
- As a Data Engineer, you will build the enterprise-grade data solution to execute clients' vision
- Understand the current state process of the clients and bring it to future state improvement and solution
- Develop, construct and test architectures such as databases and large-scale processing solutions
- Create ETLs/ELTs to handle data from various data sources and various formats, e.g. Batch ETL and Streaming ETL
- Provide advice on the data solutions & development tools selection
- Develop API and employ a variety of languages and tools e.g., scripting languages, to marry systems together
- Build transformation and validation code that applies complex data aggregation and calculation in different programming languages depending on the project scope and requirements
- Document and write technical specifications for the requirements of the solution
- Plan, design and lead the implementation of a large-scale data platform
- Work with the technical architects and application designers to understand the data conversion requirements fully and to design the conversion procedures and applications
- Analyse new data sources and work with stakeholders to integrate new data into existing pipelines and models
- Develop go-to-market strategies with team leaders and expand team capabilities
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering or related field
- At least 3 years of working experience on data pipeline e.g., Azure Data Factory / Airflow / Informatica / Databricks
- Hands on programming skill e.g., SQL / Java / Python / C++ / Scala / SAS / Kafka
- Practical Experience with implementing large-scale enterprise data solutions e.g. data lake/data warehouse/data mesh
- Deep understanding of cloud computing and data technologies, business drivers, emerging computing trends, and deployment options e.g., Azure / AWS / Google Cloud / Alibaba Cloud / Tencent Cloud
- Experience with Agile & DevOps methodologies
- Knowledge of market trends and emerging technologies such as Big Data, Block Chain, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, etc would be a bonus

KPMG Forensic leverages our vast industry experience and leading technologies to help clients handle fraud and misconduct investigations, address complex regulatory compliance issues, and provide dispute advisory support in financial disputes that are likely to lead to litigation, arbitration, expert determination or mediation.
Our team have qualifications and experience in forensic accounting, big data analytics, technology, anti-money laundering/Sanctions compliance, law enforcement and research. We have dedicated Forensic Technology labs in Shanghai and Hong Kong and are equipped with capability and experience to analyze and host terabytes of data in local jurisdictions. We have leading hardware equipment and are keeping learning and strengthening our technique capacity to address rising market needs on big data analytics, computer forensics and cyber incident responses.
We have worked with industry professionals in Asia Pacific, and worldwide through the KPMG International Forensic network of over 3,000 professionals to provide one-stop solution for complex projects across numerous jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
As part of this team, you will be providing specialized consulting services in modelling and data visualization, including solution design, solution development and implementation, to clients across different industries. Additional responsibilities include:
- Delivering quality services to client
- Providing assistance in business development initiatives
- Developing our core Forensics Data & Analytics capabilities, solutions, and services
- Develop and manage tools for process automation, model validation, testing, and implementation
Experience & Background
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning or Econometrics
- 1+ years’ experience relating to Data & Analytics
- Prior experience in management of and reporting to relevant client and internal stakeholders
- Prior experience in working on probabilistic linkage of large data sets, in data manipulation or in macro language
- Experience in Data Visualization such as creating customized graphical and statistical summaries
- Experience in using scripting languages in the automation of manual processes (e.g. VBA/SAS/Python)
- Experience in using SQL, R/Python or SAS on performing statistical analysis such as distribution analysis, outlier analysis, Data Mining and Rules based Modelling on categorical data
- Strong analytical mindset and solid problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Cantonese / Mandarin is a must
- Strong interpersonal skills including confidence, open-mindedness, diplomacy and empathy and the ability to build credibility
- Previous working experience in other Data & Analytics areas such as data warehousing, data discovery, data governance, and web analytics
- Experience with working in a consulting environment
- Experience with Machine Learning models, such as model validation/model set up, particularly in NLP, LLM and foundation models
- Proficiency in Machine Learning libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras etc.
- Familiarity with MLOps best practices
- Experience with data visualization tools such as QlikView, Tableau, Spotfire and PowerBI
- Experience with scripting language such as SQL, Python or VBA, SAS
- Experience with API development and management
- Possess relevant professional qualification or vendor related certification
- Able to manage multiple tasks / priorities and meeting milestones with time, cost, and quality constraints
- Ability to work at pace whilst delivering pragmatic and high-quality outcomes
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Experience in conducting risk evaluations and formulating as well as executing strategies to alleviate identified risk
- Previous experience with database administration and application tools
