Alumni Services are looking for a Data Governance Lead for our client, based in Hong Kong . As the Data Governance Lead, you will define and manage our firm-wise
Data Governance framework in accordance to our internal Data Policy and industry
best practice. You will also lead the effort to implement the technologies required to
support the Data Governance Framework.
You should have extensive experience in data management and governance practices,
covering data ownership and stewardship, identity and access control, data
classification and protection, etc. Experience in implementation of data governance
framework and running data committee in an enterprise environment is a big plus.

Responsibilities
- Act as the go-to person in the organisation for data management and governance issues
- Maintain and manage firm-wise data governance framework in accordance with internal Data Policy and industry best practices, as well as assist in operating the data governance committee
- Design and continuously refine and optimise the data governance SOPs
- Assist in implementing and refining data governance tools and SOPs and drive adoption across the organisation
Key Skills
- Extensive experience (6+ years) in data management and governance, while having 2+ years in an enterprise environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to providing strategic influence to senior business stakeholders on data governance framework adoption
- Experience in implementing of data governance framework and operating data committee in an enterprise environment is highly desired.
- Experience in data governance tools and leveraging them to drive implementation of data governance SOPs such as metadata management, data quality management, master data management and reference data management.
- Experience in implementing of unstructured data management to facilitate AI strategy and AI governance is highly desired.
- Experience in implementing data protection and data security capabilities such as encryption, anonymization is a plus.

As a Data Specialist in our Finance Consulting team, you’ll play a pivotal role in analyzing complex data sets to provide valuable insights that inform business decisions. Your expertise will help guide our clients toward data-driven strategies and operational improvements.
Below are the key responsibilities for this role:
Stakeholder management and leadership:
- Collaborate with clients, management, and relevant stakeholders to define project goals and objectives.
- Understand the unique challenges faced by each client and tailor recommendations and solutions accordingly.
- Research, develop, and implement effective data-gathering methods.
- Analyze and synthesize data from various sources, including financial records, market trends, and operational metrics.
- Utilize reporting tools (such as Tableau or PowerBI) to create insightful reports and interactive dashboards.
- Develop data transformation pipelines (using tools such as Alteryx, Databricks, etc.) from data sources to views required by reporting tools
- Present findings to clients in a clear and impactful manner.
- Dive deep into data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
- Provide actionable recommendations based on your analysis.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business specialists, data scientists, and project managers.
- Communicate findings effectively to clients, helping them make informed decisions.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in management information systems, information technology, mathematics, statistics, or related field
- All years of experience will be considered, with appropriate role level and compensation to be discussed upon successful interview
- Practical experience in implementing reports and data transformation within a finance context is preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and critical thinking
- Ability to complete milestones and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed

KPMG’s Finance Consulting team enables clients to maximize the performance of their Finance function and uses the latest
technology to improve insights for growth and governance.
Our team in Hong Kong is the fastest growing division within KPMG China and represents a young and enthusiastic team that always pushes itself to succeed. Since our creation, we have developed in-depth knowledge of an incredibly broad spread of sectors and services.
Our Data team assists clients to develop and execute their strategies by optimising the use of information. We enable businesses to realise their objectives through insights from the data and provide the right data to the right people at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
As a Data Specialist in our Finance Consulting team, you’ll play a pivotal role in analyzing complex data sets to provide valuable insights that inform business decisions. Your expertise will help guide our clients toward data-driven strategies and operational improvements.
Below are the key responsibilities for this role:
Stakeholder management and leadership:
- Collaborate with clients, management, and relevant stakeholders to define project goals and objectives.
- Understand the unique challenges faced by each client and tailor recommendations and solutions accordingly.
- Research, develop, and implement effective data-gathering methods.
- Analyze and synthesize data from various sources, including financial records, market trends, and operational metrics.
- Utilize reporting tools (such as Tableau or PowerBI) to create insightful reports and interactive dashboards.
- Develop data transformation pipelines (using tools such as Alteryx, Databricks, etc.) from data sources to views required by reporting tools
- Present findings to clients in a clear and impactful manner.
- Dive deep into data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
- Provide actionable recommendations based on your analysis.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business specialists, data scientists, and project managers.
- Communicate findings effectively to clients, helping them make informed decisions.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in management information systems, information technology, mathematics, statistics, or related field
- All years of experience will be considered, with appropriate role level and compensation to be discussed upon successful interview
- Practical experience in implementing reports and data transformation within a finance context is preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and critical thinking
- Ability to complete milestones and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in both spoken and written English and Chinese
