Our Team:
Our Corporate Bonds Primary Markets team is responsible for the timely and accurate publication of new bonds being brought to market. Responsibilities also include developing automated pipelines for ingestion and publication of corporate bonds data, enhancing our primary markets dataset, and finding opportunities to expand our data product offering through client engagement. Our team works closely with internal consumers of our data including the News, Pricing, and Index teams. We also heavily collaborate with our counterparts in Product, Sales & Engineering.
What's the role?
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with an outstanding combination of technical, interpersonal and communication skills, which they can apply to spot gaps and find improvement opportunities to our product's technologies. You will be seen as a technical leader across the organization. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about building automated workflows and pipelines to support the transformation of the corporate bonds dataset. You will apply your problem-solving skills to handle the pipelines, automation processes and workflows that feed our products. In addition to that, you will be tasked with measuring and articulating the impact of your initiatives using business intelligence tools. - Own the data coverage, quality, and curation of 15-20 companies across Bloomberg Terminal, financial models, and enterprise data products
- Perform data profiling and exploratory data analysis to identify and prioritize areas of investments in our data offering
- Research and productionize advanced data quality solutions by leveraging subject matter expertise and technical acumen
- Use Python to query, analyze, and automate workflows
- Analyze industry trends and market-moving events to ensure our datasets reflect relevant, high-value information for clients
- Troubleshoot and resolve data quality escalations, collaborating with clients and stakeholders to ensure datasets are fit-for-purpose
- Develop financial models and apply data-driven insights to enhance product offerings
- Apply subject matter expertise to support the development of AI/ML automation initiatives
- Build interconnected data models across Bloomberg's product offering
- Manage client and internal stakeholder relationships
- Mentor and train junior team members to strengthen team capabilities
You'll Need To Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business, STEM, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of relevant experience in financial data analysis, equity research, financial modeling, or a related field
- Proficiency with both English and other Asian languages (Korean or Mandarin)
- Strong coding proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and workflow optimization
- Advanced experience working with Pandas (Python) or dplyr (R)
- Deep understanding of financial statements, financial modeling, and industry analysis
- Competency in applied statistics, with emphasis on descriptive statistics and statistical inference
- Basic knowledge of relational data modelling with a focus on conceptual data model and data normalization
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate business needs into actionable data solutions
- Proven ability to support and engage with stakeholders to ensure product success
We'd Love to See:
- Master's degree or CFA designation (or in progress)
- Sector-specific expertise and understanding of key industry drivers (buy-side or sell-side equity research experience a plus)
- Exposure to data management principles, business intelligence tools or quality assurance and control
- Foundational knowledge of core LLM concepts
- Experience using Bloomberg Terminal and Company Financials products

What's the role?
The Company Financials Markets team is looking for a Senior Data Management Professional who can combine deep subject matter expertise and advanced technical skills to own and develop data-driven strategies and workflows around exchanges and 3rd party data providers. You are expected to take advantage of these knowledge and skills to drive workflow strategies, deliver best-in-class user and technical workflows and better incorporate humans in the automation pipelines that eventually help shape and build fit-for-purpose Company Financials products. Coupled with good communication and stakeholder management skills, you will also be working very closely with partners across PD&T, including Product Managers, Engineering teams as well as other Company Financials Industries and Cross-function teams to meet the needs of our external and internal clients.
We'll Trust You To
- Develop data-driven strategies, balancing the best of Technical, Product, Financial and Market knowledge, and work with our engineering and product departments to craft solutions
- Own the reliable and efficient workflows around the exchanges and 3rd party data providers such as document acquisition and structured/unstructured contents processing, utilizing programming, machine learning and/or human-in-the-loop approaches.
- Analyze workflows to identify critical observability checkpoints to ensure delivery of the fit-for-purpose data on market basis; design and build efficient, maintainable and scalable solutions to facilitate monitoring, reporting and alerting across markets.
- Analyze market specific workstreams to identify opportunities for improvement and/or consolidation by leveraging technical knowledge of Bloomberg's proprietary or open-source stacks.
- Communicate and collaborate across team members and complementary teams including Engineering, Product, and Bloomberg Intelligence
- Develop interconnected data models that enable analysis across datasets and develop statistical analysis.
You'll Need To Have
- A bachelor's degree or above in Statistics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, or other STEM related field or degree-equivalent qualifications
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in the financial/fintech services industry, including exchanges, market data providers or financial technology institutions, and/or a data engineering role or related fields such data quality, data modeling, or data architecture
- Experience working with Python in development or production environment
- Experience implementing high volume, low-latency ETL pipelines and proven track record of managing data lifecycle
- Familiarity with various databases, schemas, modeling, as well as structured and unstructured formats (PDF, HTML, XBRL, JSON, CSV etc.)
- Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize and adapt to tasks accordingly with a customer focused mentality
- Powerful collaboration skills to work across departments and regions, excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Data Engineering Lead to oversee the data engineering team and drive the implementation of advanced data and AI initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Provide overall strategic guidance for the data engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Lead and mentor a data team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture to achieve strategic goals.
- Identify and present the business benefits and value propositions of potential data and AI use cases to stakeholders.
- Review and enhance the data team's operational model in conjunction with stakeholders to optimize efficiency and impact.
Technical Architecture & Development
- Build a scalable data framework using modern Azure technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric, to support downstream applications.
- Refactor redundant and low-efficiency code from legacy systems or vendors, including data pipelines, PySpark, SQL, and shell scripts.
- Oversee the implementation of AI solutions, to provide data analysis self-service capabilities.
- Ensure the data architecture incorporates core data management competencies, including data governance, data quality, and data security.
Team Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate and oversee the offshore team in Mainland China, ensuring project goals and timelines are met.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between onshore and offshore teams and with other departments.
- Act as a technical liaison, translating complex data concepts for business stakeholders and guiding the team to deliver user-centric solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 7+ Years of experience in data engineering, with demonstrated exposure to data science and analytics principles.
- Proven experience providing strategic direction and implementing complex data and AI solutions.
