- Support cut over and Go-live activities, ensure a smooth transition to the new M&E IT system
- Typically, 6 years of related experience in implementation of large scale Engineering, IT change management projects
- Degree in Engineering / Aerospace discipline or Aircraft Maintenance or other comparable qualification
- Proven experience in supervising and managing projects and cross functional teams
- Proven experience in managing diverse stakeholder groups
- Proven ability to manage across departments and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
- Good in communication, influencing and negotiation skills

Senior Consulting Field Systems Engineer
to lead business development activities for Open Cable Systems and hyperscaler connectivity within our Submarine team.
As a specialist in submarine systems, you will work within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary group to advance Ciena's Submarine Solutions. This role requires a high degree of self-motivation, creativity, and a broad range of engineering experience to interact effectively with teams across Research and Development, Product Management, Sales, and Post-sales Deployment. You will play a crucial role in integrating new products, features, and applications, and in expanding our hyperscaler and MOFN deals with understanding of hyperscale network architecture.
The ability to distinctly position Ciena as a leader in networking hardware and software solutions, and to highlight how our offerings stand out from the competition, is essential.
Specific Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead for customer engagements, including tender and contract clarifications for submarine customers focusing on Open Cables.
- Conduct technology workshops, roadshows, and deep customer engagements to engineer solutions for open cables.
- Respond to RFPs and address customer technical queries.
- Design network architecture and perform network design.
- Develop pricing schedules for RFP responses.
- Lead and support the creation of network designs and engineering documentation, including equipment rack layouts.
- Collaborate with regional product primes, PLM, link budgeting, and R&D teams to suggest product enhancements or new features based on customer needs.
- Present to large audiences, including at conferences, and support global sales engineering teams with pre-sales activities such as RFx technical support and solution design.
- Support global account/sales engineering community with pre-sales activities that include customer bid (RFx) technical support, market readiness support, technical consultation, solution evaluation and design, market trials support, and other engineering Q&A support.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of techniques and methodologies through post-mortem analysis.
- Mentor other Systems Engineers and act as an Advisor to the SE team.
- Define, create, and validate submarine network solution designs and field test parameters, including customer presentations, Methods of Procedure, test plans, and application guides.
- Act as the first-line support "Go-To" person for designated sales opportunities within assigned accounts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Minimum 5 years in a Submarine specific role with direct involvement in an upgrade project. Technical knowledge in submarine SLTE and SIE solutions. Experience on consortia upgrade projects a strong asset.
- Technical knowledge in Converged Optical Ethernet (Layer 1/2/3) systems, technologies (OTN, Carrier Ethernet, IP), instrumentation and/or test methodologies
- Experience with Layer 0 optical test equipment: Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA); SONET/SDH/Ethernet/OTN test sets; Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), etc
- Experience with optical test equipment and familiarity with link budgeting concepts and fiber-optic impairments (Attenuation, CD, FWM etc).
- Knowledge/experience with 100G/400G/800G and higher rate modulation formats and concepts, especially coherent technology and an ability to articulate these to customers
- Building network cost models that drive optimization of network designs in both subsea and terrestrial network
- Understanding basic concepts of Data Center architectures, spine and leaf designs, edge networking and optical transport.
- Basic understanding of Automation SW architecture, common workflows, ZTP methods, DCN networking, APIs and networking models.
- Familiarity with cloud architecture and deploying / running applications in a cloud environment.
- Construction of product feature / price analysis spreadsheets.

Design and Development of a Small-Scale Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D Printing System
This project aims to build a compact SLS 3D printer, an advanced additive manufacturing system that differs from conventional filament-based 3D printers. SLS uses a low-power laser to selectively fuse powder materials layer by layer, enabling high-resolution and high-strength fabrication. The system will integrate laser optics, scanning modules, and a novel powder feeding/coating subsystem. The project is both technically challenging and intellectually rewarding, offering hands-on experience in optics, laser research, and mechanical-electrical integration.
DutiesThe appointee will:
Participate in the mechanical and electronic design of a compact SLS 3D printer;
Assist in the development and testing of a novel powder feeding and coating mechanism;
Assemble, calibrate, and iterate on prototype designs;
Collaborate with Postdoctoral Fellows and PhD students on optics and laser-related subsystems;
Troubleshoot mechanical and control issues during system development;
Contribute to technical documentation and potential patent application drafting; and
Carry out other duties as assigned to support the project.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering/Robotics, or related disciplines;

The Department
The IT Infrastructure and Platform Operations Department is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the infrastructure that supports the Club's IT systems, and leads the Service Management capabilities that ensure the smooth running of these systems.
This department ensures the efficient and effective operation of technological resources to support business objectives. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and operating processes and controls to ensure IT service availability, performance, and resilience align with business needs.
- Managing the 24x7 IT Operations Centre.
- Overseeing the Club's use of the public cloud.
- Managing the lifecycle of IT infrastructure equipment and on-premises technology (e.g., data centres and retail offices).

The Job
You will:
- Build, lead, and mentor an Infrastructure automation team specialising in IaC development and solutions
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of IaC solutions for provisioning, configuring, and managing infrastructure
- Standardise reusable IaC modules and templates to enable consistent and scalable deployment
- Ensure platforms are scalable, secure, and aligned with DevOps and IaC principles
- Manage and support platforms such as Ansible, Terraform, and Morpheus
- Drive the adoption of automation platforms across the organisation to reduce manual dependencies and improve efficiency
- Continuously assess and refine tools, workflows, and team practices to improve efficiency and quality
- Encourage team members to adopt emerging technologies and contribute to open-source or community efforts

- Proven experience in developing and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform and Ansible
- Hands-on knowledge of automation platforms such as Ansible, CMP tools (e.g., Morpheus), and provisioning platforms

- Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation, Terraform Associate, or AWS/Azure certifications
- Strong foundational knowledge of core infrastructure technologies, such as networking, systems (Linux/Windows), storage & backup, database services, and end-user computing
- Proficiency in Jira for task management, sprint planning, and reporting
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders effectively
- Proficient in scripting languages for automation tasks
- Self-driven & motivated, tenacious problem solver will own issues until full resolution
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent judgement, and possess a passion for continuous learning
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
