The Opportunity
As a Director of Event Technology at Encore, you will have imagination and curiosity to bring events to life. Your primary responsibility will revolve around cultivating a robust and collaborative relationship between our dedicated onsite team and venue management. The service provided will be highly professional with a view to timeliness, appropriate conduct and effective cost management of human resources and services as well as the P&L, to ensure the profitability of the Encore activities in the venue.
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure the efficient and safe running of event staging services within the venues
- Build and maintain relationship with venues and clients to ensure successful client relations and smooth running of all events
- Educate and advise clients and venue staff alike on the most appropriate audio-visual equipment, digital options and the necessary crew to best meet their presentation needs and budget
- Maintain and disseminate crew rosters and schedules
- Inform the appropriate people of any areas of concern so that problems with equipment, crew, venue staff or clients can be rectified in a timely manner
- Identify opportunities to increase the profitable revenue in applicable venue
- Seek out opportunities for operational improvements
- Provide coaching and mentoring to develop and optimise individual and team capability
- Prior experience in the events/sales environment
- Relevant experience in AV
- Excellent planning, organisational, time management & account management skills
- Strong sales and business acumen, track record in managing a high performing sales team within a third party venue
- Ability to foster meaningful business relationships
- Prior experience in rostering and cost management
- Qualification in Hospitality or Events is highly regarded

- Communicate strategic messages from management through organizing internal events and designing internal newsletters & eDMs
- Enable the awareness and capability of members involving in transformation from all levels; including knowledge, skills, practices; in all areas from ability to identify problems, solutions and implementation
- Bridge among various stakeholders from Business, Technology and Operations on assigned projects/ initiatives contributing to DBS business priorities and strategic objectives
- Bachelor or Master degree
- Minimum 5 years working experiences, preferably in areas of event management and project management
- Good strategic mindset and design sense
- Proficient in in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, video editing
- Professional knowledge and skills preferred; including but not limited to Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design
- Professional certification including Six Sigma Green Belt, PMP, Agile is a plus

- Liaise, lobby and constantly communicate with government departments, major stakeholders, district councils, NGOs, pressure groups and other key stakeholders for solicitation of comments and support for planning and execution of HKTB events and campaigns
- Identify, open the door to, lobby and engage commercial establishments, local community, NSAs, event organisers, etc. for solicitation of comments and support for development of HKTB events and campaigns
- Identify and collaborate with NSAs and event organisers for materialisation of partnership in promoting Hong Kong’s sports and wellness experiences
- Plan, develop and execute physical and digital elements and programmes in order to (1) raise event/ campaign/ core experiences’ awareness, (2) upkeep HK’s visibility, (3) drive local and overseas participation and (4) maintain/ raise event satisfaction in HKTB events and campaigns
- Supervise and monitor event managers/service contractors/supporting organisations for ensuring quality and timely delivery of services required in accordance with the agreed scope of services/ roles and responsibilities
- Process and procure all necessary licenses and permits for staging the event and ensure its compliance with all applicable HK laws and regulations
- Develop operation plans and administer all related process and logistics for staging the agreed event components in accordance with corporate policy
- Keep close contact with third-party event organisers for creating collaboration opportunity and ongoing relationship building in promoting Hong Kong tourism in general
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- University graduates, preferably in disciplines of event management/ sports and recreation management/ marketing
- 8 years or above solid experience in event management from planning, programme development, budget monitoring, contractors management to execution stage is preferred
- Proven track records in event marketing, organising and managing large-scale/ territory-wide event and promotional campaign, preferably outdoor sports events/ mass participation events
- Experience in government liaison and stakeholders engagement will be an advantage
- Creative and resourceful connection with commercial establishments, local community and charitable organisations, NGOs, national and community sports organisations
- Excellent organisation, problem solving and time management skills
- Proactive and responsible team player who is capable of handling unexpected changes/ situations in outdoor event preparation and staging
- Excellent presentation and communication skill with internal function teams and external sponsors/ stakeholders to deliver effective promotion via quality collaborations
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise among assignments, willing to work long hours during event season and to function effectively under pressure
- Understand the latest market trend and generate creative ideas in uplifting event profile and reputation within target market segment
- Ability to give suggestions and drive new initiatives for enhancing event status and participants'/ visitors' satisfaction
- Detail-minded and follow strict guideline when dealing with company’s procurement and legal process

The person in this role will often be the first face that potential clients of Principle One see and as such will be responsible for building the potential client’s interest in us and establishing the correct understanding of the company’s offerings, capability and most importantly, values. The executive will develop both the volume and gross margin of our managed IT/AV services and IT/AV integration businesses. The person will initially focus on the financial services and boutique high-end retail industries, other industries may be identified and targeted after success in these areas. The person will be expected to do this using a methodical, measurable approach.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, methodically execute and report against a written business development plan.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with referring parties, including Project Management Company and main contractors etc.
- Identify, attend and actively “work the room” at events related to our target industries.
- Promote a consistent message in the market about our offerings and values.
Performance Measures
- Regularly and pro-actively report to the Directors with quantitative measures of their activity and success in building referrer relationships and event activity.
- Demonstrate the completeness and quality of data the person maintain in our CRM system.
- Meet a monthly target contribution margin of generated qualified leads each month.

Detailed Description
The person in this role will often be the first face that potential clients of Principle One see and as such will be responsible for building the potential client’s interest in us and establishing the correct understanding of the company’s offerings, capability and most importantly, values. The executive will develop both the volume and gross margin of our managed IT/AV services and IT/AV integration businesses. The person will initially focus on the financial services and boutique high-end retail industries, other industries may be identified and targeted after success in these areas. The person will be expected to do this using a methodical, measurable approach.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, methodically execute and report against a written business development plan.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with referring parties, including Project Management Company and main contractors etc.
- Identify, attend and actively “work the room” at events related to our target industries.
- Promote a consistent message in the market about our offerings and values.
Performance Measures
- Regularly and pro-actively report to the Directors with quantitative measures of their activity and success in building referrer relationships and event activity.
- Demonstrate the completeness and quality of data the person maintain in our CRM system.
- Meet a monthly target contribution margin of generated qualified leads each month.

Responsibilities- Manage, initiate, lead, plan, organize, and implement assigned events, ensuring timely preparation, high quality, and flawless execution within schedule and resources.
- Coordinate effectively with internal operation and technical support departments to secure support and develop execution plans for smooth and safe event implementation.
- Be on-site to monitor and oversee event execution, ensuring delivery aligns with plans, and collaborate with internal teams to address potential issues, providing solutions and adjustments as needed.
- Ensure all safety and regulatory requirements are met, reporting updates to senior management promptly.
- Maintain good relationships with organizers, providing professional advice, analyzing requirements, and developing effective plans to ensure quality deliverables.
- Prepare pre- and post-event reports and maintain proper documentation for future reference.
- Perform any ad-hoc assignments as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hotel & Hospitality Management, Event Management, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sizeable companies, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience.
- A team player with good interpersonal and communication skills, logical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, flexible, able to work independently, and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Chinese word processing.
- Good command of written and spoken English, Chinese, and Mandarin is a plus.
