Our worldwide field engineering team apply expert insights to real-world customer problems, enabling the enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps and a wide range of associated technologies. We are experts in the whole open source stack, from kernel to desktop, from cloud to the edge. Our team is also interested in business problems - building things reliably, efficiently and cost-effectively, and we have to learn to speak the language of our customers and their industries.
We help global companies embrace public and private cloud infrastructure, cloud native operations, and open source applications. For this team we are looking for several Alliances Engineers to support OEM (hardware manufacturers), GSI (global system integrators), ISV (independent software vendors), Channel partners and Public Cloud alliance partners. You will support various alliances and partners of Canonical to adopt our products and technologies, help business leaders to define joint go-to-market programs with partners from the technical standpoint.

What your day will look like
- Understand Ubuntu, Linux, networking and services in real-world environments
- Architect cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark either On-Premises or in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Architect and integrate popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra and NGINX
- Help partners to offer and architect joint solutions utilizing Canonical's technologies on top of the public clouds and in the data center
- Design and publish joint Reference Architectures and perform technical validations with various partners
- Prepare and run onboarding sessions/workshops with various partners' teams to promote Canonical products and solutions
What we are looking for in you
- Extensive experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), Kubernetes, Ceph, software automation
- Experience designing and implementing solutions on top of public or private clouds
- Python and bash understanding, troubleshooting skills
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- High motivation, ability to multi-task and follow-up reliably on commitments
- Interest in customer-facing engagement, including pitching, demonstrating and understanding customer environment and needs
- Interest in new technologies like LXD, Juju and Snaps
- Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related technical field experience

+ Any other duties as assigned by the manager.
**What do we want to know about you?**
+ Degree holder in E&M Engineering or other discipline. High diploma with sound experience / knowledge will also be considered.
+ 3-5 years of relevant working experience, experience in rolling stock or related industries is a definite advantage. Software background is preferred.
+ Previous customer service / customer relation experience with be an advantage
+ Written and spoken Cantonese, English and Mandarin is a MUST.
+ Holder of Hong Kong Driver License class 1 and 2 is an advantage.
+ Sound communication and interpersonal skills, able to deal with all levels of personnel.
+ Proven experience in staff supervision is an advantage.
+ Able to pick up different product lines knowledge & transfer to service team member.
+ Good team player, responsible, diplomatic, proactive and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
+ Experience in Occupational Health and Safety and ISO standard is a definite advantage.

How to make an impact
In the position of FSE band 4, you will be responsible for delivering and building service excellence beyond our customers' expectations. Your expertise will ensure that our customers can rely on their equipment to achieve their scientific goals flawlessly.
What is the scope
- Represent our company in a positive, professional manner in all dealings with Thermo Fisher Scientific customers, both external and internal.
- Own and fulfill service commitments and conduct installations, calibrations, preventative maintenance, training, and repairs.
- Provide services, remote or on-site, within agreed conditions, and set the right priorities.
- Handle service reporting, documentation, and creation of procedures/protocols for internal and customer needs.
- Maintain a high level of customer allegiance by building strong customer relationships and promoting an excellent customer experience.
- Partner with our commercial colleagues to deliver customer deals that can be implemented profitably and meet/exceed customer expectations.
- Optimize and ensure the accuracy of provided tools and consignment parts.
- Engage in continuous improvement through our Practical Process Improvement Business System.
- Support centrifuge products, including New Product Introduction (NPI), essential parts planning, document creation, knowledge sharing, and managing Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) and product updates.
- Serve as the primary contact point for communication with the factory and collaborate with teams to improve product performance and customer happiness.
Education
- High Diploma or equivalent experience in Engineering or other related fields.
- 3 years or more of relevant work experience.
- Candidates with less experience or fresh graduates with a positive and willing-to-learn attitude will also be considered.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral in Chinese and English. Mandarin is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues in difficult and stressful situations.
- Great teammate with a strong desire to succeed and a standout colleague.
- Good verbal and written communication skills related to technical approaches, work performed, test results, and findings.
- Customer friendliness and a professional attitude.
- Strong electrical or mechanical background for troubleshooting, repair, and problem-solving abilities.
- PC literacy including MS Office and Outlook.

Job Description
As a Senior Field Service Engineer, you will support our key customer in the APAC region by maintaining and repairing the system. You are required to travel within the APAC region, sometimes to customer locations abroad, with durations ranging from a few days to several weeks. You will be based at a key customer site to support the maintenance team, focusing on preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 technical support for the on-site maintenance team at APAC sites, including mechanical, electrical, and LLC (PLC & FSC) support.
- Be part of a maintenance team that operates 24x7.
- Occasionally work on shift to support other team members.
- Execute maintenance plans and perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with the hotline team to resolve incidents requiring Level 3 support.
- Travel to sites with short notice.
- Participate in on-call rosters.
- Attend to incidents and prepare detailed reports on faults, troubleshooting, root causes, and solutions.
- Support projects initiated by the Service department as a Project Engineer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical and Control, Mechatronic Engineering, or similar.
- At least 5 years of experience in material handling systems or similar industries with low-level and high-level control systems.
- Knowledge of control systems (PLC, Siemens).
- Strong analytical skills for structuring and solving technical problems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with DOS Maximo or equivalent CMMS.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in English and local languages, both spoken and written.
