Job Description
About viAct:Viact is a cutting-edge technology company specializing in AI-powered solutions for construction and industrial applications. We are seeking a talented Field Engineer to support our hardware team in ensuring smooth operations.
Your Role:
viAct is looking for a talented and resilient Field Engineer to join our energetic team. You will be working closely with our Software/Hardware/AI teams on the quality control and troubleshooting of our systems. This is a critical hands-on role for a technical expert who is not afraid to get their hands dirty to solve problems directly on site.
A Note on the Work Environment & Expectations
This is not a typical office or finished-site role. The successful candidate must be fully prepared for the realities of working on active, rugged, and often chaotic construction sites.
- You will be required to perform maintenance and "hot-fixes" in outdoor environments, exposed to various weather conditions (heat, rain), dust, and noise.
- Your daily tasks will involve navigating uneven terrain and working around active construction machinery.
- We need a "doer" who personally performs the technical work. This role is about physically touching, fixing, and installing hardware and network components yourself, not supervising or directing vendors to do the work. Candidates whose primary experience is in managing subcontractors will not be a fit for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly perform hands-on installation, maintenance, configuration, and emergency 'hot-fix' repairs of CCTV, Access Control, and Alarm systems.
- Personally troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues with network equipment, including routers, switches, and other communication systems that form the backbone of our ELV solutions.
- Demonstrate expert, hands-on proficiency in the crimping and termination of Ethernet cables to fix connectivity issues in challenging site conditions.
- Provide immediate, on-site technical support and proactive maintenance for a wide range of customer systems, including our smart technology solutions.
- Work closely with the hardware team to ensure successful project implementation and system relocation as needed.
- Assist in planning project schedules, monitoring progress, and compiling detailed test reports based on your direct findings.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: Higher Diploma, Professional Diploma, or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Security Systems Engineering, or any related technical disciplines.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in Cantonese is required. Able to read and write in English.
- Residency: Must have legal residency in Hong Kong with the right to work.
- Experience: 3+ years of post-qualification, hands-on working experience in the ELV, electronic engineering.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of security systems, including CCTV and Access Control System installation and maintenance.
- Demonstrable knowledge of electrical and network troubleshooting.
- Good PC skills and familiarity with system configuration.
- Personal Attributes: Proactive, flexible, independent, and self-motivated with a "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude. Must have strong interpersonal skills and a deep sense of responsibility for solving a problem from start to finish.
ADVANTAGEOUS QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid driving license (Class 1 & 2).
- Immediate availability is preferred.
- Holder of a valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) and Construction Worker Registration Card.
- Specific training or experience in locating underground electricity cables.
