Job Description

Animoca Brands Corporation Limited (ACN: 122 921 813) is a Web3 leader that leverages tokenization and blockchain to deliver digital property rights to consumers, helping to establish the open metaverse and its associated network effects. Animoca Brands realizes its mission via three integrated business pillars: operating Web3 businesses to advance blockchain adoption with native projects such as Moca Network, Anichess, The Sandbox, Open Campus, NEOM Web3 initiatives, and a regulated stablecoin project in partnership with Standard Chartered and HKT; providing digital asset advisory services including tokenomics advisory, liquidity provisioning, and institutional research to help external Web3 projects grow; and investment management, with a portfolio of investments in over 540 companies including industry leaders Pudgy Penguins, Yuga Labs, Axie Infinity, Polygon, Consensys, Magic Eden, OpenSea, Dapper Labs, YGG, and many others.

Job Summary:

The Finance Associate will play a critical role in building and scaling an innovative Real-World Asset (RWA) platform focused on student loans within Open Campus, an in-house project at Animoca Brands focused on tokenising the education industry. This role centers on underwriting, structuring, and managing student loan deals on-chain, contributing directly to solving the student loan challenge through decentralized finance. Based in our Hong Kong offices, the ideal candidate will have several years of experience in traditional finance (investment banking or private credit/equity), with strong financial modeling skills and familiarity or interest in web 3—particularly around tokenizing and managing real-world assets. While a CFA Level 1 qualification is a positive marker, it is not mandatory. You will be chiefly responsible for underwriting potential business borrowers (students/businesses), structuring loan deals, ongoing risk management, and collections. Additionally, the role will involve preparing investor presentations and performing financial accounting and investor relations operations to support fundraising and portfolio management activities. This position offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of transforming the student loan market by leveraging blockchain technology within the education sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and assess potential student loan borrowers leveraging on-chain data and traditional financial metrics
  • Structure and execute loan deals tailored to the RWA student loan platform.
  • Conduct ongoing risk management, monitoring, and collection activities for the loan portfolio
  • Develop, maintain, and refine financial models to support loan underwriting and portfolio analysis.
  • Prepare and present investor decks and related documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support investor relations and perform financial accounting related to portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to help build scalable, automated loan and risk management processes.
  • Engage with managing partners on identifying additional lending, M&A, and investment opportunities focused on education finance

Requirements:

  • 2+ years’ experience as a finance associate in a traditional finance setting (investment bank, private credit, or equity fund) with demonstrated financial modeling expertise
  • Practical understanding or strong interest in web 3 and real-world assets, especially tokenized lending platforms.
  • Strong credit assessment skills and experience in structuring credit or loan deals.
  • Experience with investor presentation preparation and financial accounting operations.
  • Strong organizational abilities with capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English at investment banking standards
  • Willingness to be based in Hong Kong out of the Animoca Brands headquarters.

The Perks of Joining Animoca Brands:

A Vibrant and Diverse Workplace: Immerse yourself in a dynamic, multi-cultural environment with colleagues from over 15 nationalities (and growing!). We celebrate diversity and foster a global perspective.

Incentives in the Web3 Space: Be a part of the future and align your success with the growth of our innovative projects.

Direct Impact and Flat Structure: Your voice matters. We operate with a flat organizational structure, ensuring your ideas are heard and implemented quickly.

Comfortable and Creative Atmosphere: Embrace a relaxed and productive work environment with casual attire.

Opportunities Across the Ecosystem: Expand your horizons by collaborating with various subsidiary brands within the Animoca Brands network, gaining exposure to a wide range of projects and technologies.

Comprehensive Benefits Package: We care about your well-being. Enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, life, and transportation allowances.
