+ Oversees, reviews, and challenges entity governance processes to ensure adherence to appropriate Group and Business standards.
+ Responsible for overseeing the end-to-end governance framework and standards (incl. structure, ToR, MI requirements), including responsible for 1LoD review of Insurance Finance Governance materials across committees to improve quality of materials and effectiveness / efficiency of meetings.
+ Produce global Insurance governance materials, including content for key forums such as the Group Insurance Finance Management Meeting (GIFMM), ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned to strategic priorities. Monitor, track, and facilitate post-meeting actions, ensuring decisions are translated into clear deliverables, owners are assigned, and progress is followed through to completion.
+ Act as the GIFMM secretary, coordinating the end-to-end organisation of the meeting (agenda planning, paper flow, logistics, minutes/actions), and liaising effectively with Markets and Group stakeholders to ensure strong engagement and alignment.
+ Support strategic communications with Group and key stakeholders, including 1LoD review and challenge of outputs and materials (for example forecasts, actuals, and scenario analysis) to ensure messages are consistent and well-governed.
+ Works directly with the Head of Insurance Finance Governance and Organisation, Global Insurance CFO and relevant Group teams to assess any group-wide organisational changes impacting the function, and drives required initiatives from both a financial and people perspective.
+ Support the Head of Insurance Finance Governance and Organisation, and the Global Insurance CFO to drive and manage the Function across various activities including business management, communication and people initiatives.
+ Responsible for accurate and timely cost reporting, forecasting, and budgeting process including headcount and position management. Identify and progress cost levers to ensure Financial Resource Planning targets are met.
+ Develop, maintain and execute a structured communications plan for the function, including regular town hall organisations, leadership briefings, and announcements relating to organisational changes (as required), ensuring communications are clear, inclusive, and aligned to strategic direction.
+ Collaborate closely with the Head of Innovation to advance the Insurance Finance & Actuarial AI culture agenda. And integrate innovation and AI enablement into people communications and development activities, ensuring the agenda is embedded into the function's operating model, engagement approach, and capability-building priorities.
+ Demonstrate curiosity and a growth mindset, actively engaging in the company's AI journey and committing to ongoing learning and development to keep skills current and impactful.

As a China/Asia Economist, you will be responsible for writing research and making forecasts on the Chinese economy with extension to the Asia region. The research will focus on the macroeconomic environment and its implications for investment in equity, interest rate, and foreign exchange markets.

The contingent worker will provide operational support to the APAC Sustainable Finance Data (SFD) team, primarily covering the Japan market and supporting Parent & Consolidated (P/C) market operations. Responsibilities include managing escalations and stakeholder inquiries, maintaining operational documentation, monitoring workflows and ticket queues, and supporting knowledge management. The role will also help alleviate operational workload, enabling the team to focus on strategic initiatives such as the extraction project and process improvement efforts. **We'll trust you to:**

Reporting to the China Oversight Head, the Director, Investment Oversight and ALM for China Business ("the Director") will provide investment oversight and asset and liability management support for the China joint venture business. The role serves as a key liaison with the China JV management team and the JV's Asset Management Company (AMC), providing insight and challenge on investment strategy, investment risk management and ALM practice. The Director will support collaboration between the China JV, AMC, Cigna Investment Management (CIM) and Cigna stakeholders to ensure alignment on investment oversight, portfolio risk management and balance sheet considerations.
**Tasks and Expected Contributions/Results:**
+ Lead investment oversight of the China insurance JV and AMC. Relying on deep and practical knowledge of the China investment market and insurance asset management practices, advise International Health (IH) Global Office, Cigna Investment Management (CIM) and Cigna corporate stakeholders on China investment markets, insurer practices, asset classes and specific assets
+ Work with the JV management team using a balanced and practical approach to apply investment management best practices and risk-return objectives in the context of the China investment markets to meet liability requirements, improve asset-liability management and optimize long-term return. Set guidance and expectations with JV/AMC with Cigna's investment and ALM principles and discipline, eg, to guide the JV/AMC in development and regular update of investment strategies for each asset class
+ Advise JV in the management of their asset manager, the AMC, and in development of an effective investment oversight framework
+ Support Cigna's board representatives of the AMC by reviewing AMC board materials in partnership with other supporting functions
+ Regularly conduct deep dives to assess China portfolio investment opportunities and risks at geographic, industry, asset type or instrument levels
+ Provide CIM insights on the JV's investments (including AMC's performance on the entrusted investments) as well as China market, provide regular reporting and ad hoc update as necessary
+ Partner with CIM to involve on quarterly CECL review and ongoing credit risk review through monitoring watchlist update; execute special review on troubled assets
+ Stay on top of relevant market trends and identify investment opportunities and risks
+ Monitor key balance sheet and asset-liability risk indicators relevant to investment oversight
+ Support strategic asset allocation reviews and assessment of portfolio positioning against liability characteristics and capital objectives
+ Assess emerging market, regulatory and financial risks that could impact the effectiveness of the JV's investment and balance sheet strategies
**Experience/Knowledge Requirements:**
+ Minimum of 10 years' experience overseeing the investments of an insurance asset portfolio as well as Asset Management Company; ALM experience is a plus
+ Professional designation in Actuarial or Investment, such as FSA or equivalent and/or CFA required.
+ Degree holder in finance, actuarial science, statistics or other degree of relevance
+ Familiarity with designing appropriate ALM and asset investment strategies to back insurance liabilities and capital. Experience with designing appropriate reporting and control frameworks to assess the asset liability management of these portfolios is a plus
+ In depth knowledge of the business drivers, processes and operating model of AMCs in China
+ Exhibit leadership skills to recommend constructive change and obtain management buy-in
+ Self-starter who is able to work successfully, proactively and independently, manage competing priorities and be flexible in roles and responsibilities
+ Strong ability to perform well and be unfailingly diplomatic in a high pressure and complex environment
+ Strong influencing and negotiating skills
