We are seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Operations Manager to lead and scale our core financial operations. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will manage the team responsible for daily finance and treasury functions, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and compliance, especially concerning card issuing and cross-border payments in fiat and crypto. You will set KPIs and SLAs to mitigate risks and improve stakeholder experience.
Key Roles & Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global Financial Operations team, fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement.
- Oversee daily financial operations, including transaction processing, reconciliations, settlements, and asset management in fiat and crypto, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and scalability. Develop operational policies and procedures.
- Define, monitor, and report on operational metrics and SLAs. Analyze data for insights, trends, and strategic decisions. Prepare management reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage relationships with external partners like banks and payment processors.
- Oversee resolution of operational issues and escalations related to payments and fund flows, ensuring timely solutions.
- 5-7+ years in financial operations, preferably in fintech, payments, e-money, or banking sectors.
- Experience managing and scaling global operational teams.
- Deep understanding of B2B payments, card issuing, payment networks, cross-border payments, FX management, and regulations (AML, KYC).
- Familiarity with crypto operations is a plus.
- Proven track record in process optimization, automation, SLA management, and efficiency gains.
- Experience developing operational policies.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical skills to interpret data, identify risks, and resolve operational issues.
- Proficiency with financial software, payment platforms, reconciliation tools, and reporting systems; advanced Excel skills required.
- API integration experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields; professional qualifications are a plus.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and run project workstreams with limited oversight, supporting banks in transformation projects, including project management, process review and design including implementation
- Support development of client presentations, including material development and vetting, under the direction of senior team members
- Generate hypotheses and drive the storyboarding process
- Produce client ready deliverables that require limited review
- Review of data and analytics, including basic financial modelling, to support implementation projects
- Develop solutions to complex problems and challenge the thinking of more senior colleagues and clients
- Liaise effectively with clients whilst working on engagements and act as an ‘ambassador’ for KPMG
- Develop rapport and working relationships with junior clients and maintain them outside of engagements
- Be a strong and effective team player
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in any of the below:
- Big 4 experience with a focus on banking
- Internal Project / Consulting team within a wholesale bank
- Product Management role within the commercial lending, transaction banking (Cash, Trade Finance, FX, Supply Chain Finance), capital markets and/or investment banking division of a bank
- Credit risk experience, focused on commercial / corporate exposures, included syndicated loans
- Corporate strategy / Corporate development / M&A team of a wholesale bank
- Tier 1 & 2 strategy houses with deep experience in wholesale banking projects
- Degree from a leading institution
- Strong slide structuring and writing capabilities
- Evidence of project management/workstream leadership
- Knowledge of wholesale banking operations and/or regulatory compliance
- Research skills, including market research and regulatory review
- Project management experience in digital transformation / operational / regulatory / TOM-like projects
- Project management certification and knowledge of Agile delivery will be an advantage
- Analytical mindset, intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, and creativity
- Confidence, people skills, ambition and pragmatism
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese
