The Role
Fund Accounting & Administration

• Utilize Paxus fund administration system for hedge funds.
• Liaise with external fund administrators to ensure smooth operations.
• Support fund servicing activities, including reconciliations and reporting.
  

• Collaborate with the Corporate Accounting team to ensure seamless coverage during absences.
• Assist in simple FRR reporting and other corporate accounting tasks.
  

• Provide asset servicing and investment product support for the newly established SFC-licensed entity.
• Ensure compliance and operational efficiency across all fund structures.
  

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fund administration and operations, ideally with exposure to Paxus fund administration system.
• Background in fund services, asset management, or family office environments.
• CPA qualification is optional but welcomed.
• Strong attention to detail, proactive attitude, and ability to work independently within a small team.

Attribution Search is supporting a Multi Manager Hedge Fund for a brand new Finance build across its APAC region.

The role will be a Senior Management Accountant based at the funds Hong Kong office.

The position will blend all key fundamentals across financial reporting, analysis, month end closing and regulatory requirements.

Alongside BAU, the role will blend a large project element to build out the finance division, implementing policies, procedures and all round good governance.

Historically, everything finance was managed by the US office. The APAC division will now cover all management accounting for all entities across the region.

Duties will include but not limited to;

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial analysis and MI reporting.
• Supporting the implementation of accurate financial reporting, processes and procedures.
• Contribute to the maintenance and effective operation of robust internal financial controls.
• Identifying financial risks and suggesting opportunities for efficiencies and risk mitigation.
• Seamless migration of management accounting duties from US to APAC region.
• Production of board packs and ad hoc participation in board meetings.
• Prepare and present annual financial statements for the management company and a multitude of its subsidiaries.
• Production of all financial reports in conjunction with outsourced providers.
• Monitor cash flow and liquidity, including daily bank reconciliation, banking and cash management and regulatory capital forecasting.
• Lead the budgeting process and prepare financial forecasts for the management company.

Report to an experienced Portfolio Manager in the industry

Responsibilities:

Analyze and evaluate investment opportunities for the portfolio manager

Perform catalyst hedge investing, generate idea flow and how to structure long and short trades with large stocks in Asia

Stay up-to-date with policy changes, monitor industry trends, regulatory changes and market dynamics

Conduct research into investment opportunities, monitor risk and make recommendations to the portfolio manager

Assist Portfolio Manager in generating, evaluating investment needs, prepare detailed investment reports, including risk assessments, valuation analysis

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Finance, Economics, or related disciplines.

5-10 years’ work experience in investment banking, equity research or hedge fund

Strong interest in capturing news and able to collect information / data under time pressure

• Oversee and review other fund/management entities tax filings for Hedge fund clients (CFC/PFIC tax reporting, and other US international tax forms (5471, 5472, 8858, 8865, 926, 8621, and etc.)), if any, ensuring full compliance with regulations while maximizing tax efficiency for fund structures.
• Stay up to date on current tax laws, regulatory changes, and industry best practices, particularly in the investment fund space, to deliver strategic and informed tax advice.
• Being the lead client contact on engagements and the billing and profitability analysis of engagements, in addition to being heavily involved in marketplace building and pursuits
• Training, mentoring, and supervising other team members and being heavily involved in the recruitment process

Qualifications required:

• Bachelor’s degree required, (in addition, preferably with MST or MAcc)
• Must be US CPA or EA qualified
• Preferably at least 10 or more years of relevant Hedge Fund US tax experience, preferably with prior Big Four accounting firm experience
