We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Generalist to provide comprehensive HR services to our Hong Kong employees. This role requires a strong understanding of Hong Kong employment law and tax regulations, as well as experience with payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR systems. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service.

Responsibilities

About the job

  • Payroll & Tax Compliance: Accurately and efficiently process payroll, ensuring timely and compliant tax reporting in accordance with all applicable Hong Kong laws and regulations. This includes monthly tax declarations, adjustments, year-end reconciliations, and managing all employer and employee tax obligations.
  • Benefits Administration: Manage the seamless implementation and administration of all mandatory government benefits (e.g., social insurance, pension) and company-provided supplementary benefits for Hong Kong employees.
  • HR Systems & Data Management: Serve as a super user and guide for Workday, ensuring its effective utilization and administration. Manage and maintain accurate employee records within Workday and other local HR systems, including attendance tracking and benefit applications, while adhering to all compliance requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Monitor and manage the performance of our payroll vendor, ensuring high-quality service and effective collaboration.
  • HR Operations Support: Provide a full range of HR operational support to Hong Kong employees, including inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and HR systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in human resources shared services or HR operations within multinational corporations (MNCs).
  • Proven experience with payroll processing and tax compliance in Hong Kong; strong understanding of Hong Kong employment law and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Workday (or similar HRIS system) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, numerical, and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Cantonese (Mandarin a plus).
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, positive attitude, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What You'll Be Doing

Onboarding & Off-boarding

  • Design and optimize onboarding/off-boarding workflows to ensure a smooth employee experience
  • Request, prepare, and process necessary documentation (service agreements, terminations)
  • Coordinate cross-functional tasks with Legal, Finance, CISO, and IT
  • Conduct welcome meetings and ensure seamless system access (Slack, Jira, HRM, etc.)
  • Implement termination processes through HRM systems and related tools

HR Operations & Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain HR documentation (promotions, changes in employee data, compliance updates)
  • Ensure accurate data entry and document storage
  • Reconcile employee leave data with accounting and update records accordingly
  • Support the development and revision of internal regulations and HR policies (in both Russian and English)

Corporate Support & Culture

  • Coordinate the equipment lifecycle (requests, approvals, payments, logistics)
  • Celebrate employee milestones and ensure cultural alignment across teams
  • Help shape and enforce company structure updates in both HRM systems and documentation

What We Expect From You

  • Upper-Intermediate or higher English (comfortable with written and verbal communication in international teams)
  • Solid understanding of core HR processes and HR document management
  • Hands-on experience automating HR workflows and introducing new operational processes
  • Familiarity with HRM platforms and experience supporting platform transitions
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and proactive in driving improvements

Location: This role will be based remotely in the APAC region

The role entails the individual to:

  • Provide HR support by answering team members' questions and responding to requests regarding their employment and contracts, escalating when necessary. Requests may include information about the new starter process and onboarding, questions regarding global benefits, employment verifications, and other general inquiries.
  • Maintain our HRIS, ensuring a high degree of accuracy and timeliness in processing all team member changes and new joiners.
  • Owning global projects (e.g. engagement, training or culture initiatives)
  • Partnering with the managers and employees - supporting HR processes and driving the people strategy for your areas of responsibility
  • Working as a truly global partner to colleagues, especially leads, managers and executives
  • Process new hires, including country-specific on-boarding documentation, creation of files, systems set-up, and coordination of introductory reviews.
  • Provide support to employees for the enrollment and processing of benefits and the payroll process, ensuring monthly data is provided on time and is accurate.
  • Liaise with payroll to guarantee smooth salary payments.
  • Create purchase orders for internal departments.
  • Provide administrative support to employees for the enrollment and processing of benefits.
  • Conduct regular audits of employment files and systems to ensure they are up-to-date, accurate, and GDPR compliant.
  • Continually work to better our processes, spotting areas we can improve to drive our function forward.

We require an HR function that thinks and acts globally. We're looking for a Graduate HR Generalist to offer their expertise to our APAC region. It's an exciting time to join with the opportunity to help shape and create an HR function for the future. You will demonstrate a high work ethic and the personal confidence to set and defend high expectations of colleagues, counterparts and processes. You must be able to work independently, take a hands-on approach, and interface effectively with professionals at all levels. You'll need excellent communication, professional and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to function in a proactive, innovative environment. We look to HR both to support our colleagues in their personal needs and development, and also to maintain consistently high standards across multiple teams, managers and directors.
Location: This role will be based remotely in the APAC region
The role entails the individual to:

  • Provide HR support by answering team members' questions and responding to requests regarding their employment and contracts, escalating when necessary. Requests may include information about the new starter process and onboarding, questions regarding global benefits, employment verifications, and other general inquiries.
  • Maintain our HRIS, ensuring a high degree of accuracy and timeliness in processing all team member changes and new joiners.
  • Owning global projects (e.g. engagement, training or culture initiatives)
  • Partnering with the managers and employees - supporting HR processes and driving the people strategy for your areas of responsibility
  • Working as a truly global partner to colleagues, especially leads, managers and executives
  • Process new hires, including country-specific on-boarding documentation, creation of files, systems set-up, and coordination of introductory reviews.
  • Provide support to employees for the enrollment and processing of benefits and the payroll process, ensuring monthly data is provided on time and is accurate.
  • Liaise with payroll to guarantee smooth salary payments.
  • Create purchase orders for internal departments.
  • Provide administrative support to employees for the enrollment and processing of benefits.
  • Conduct regular audits of employment files and systems to ensure they are up-to-date, accurate, and GDPR compliant.
  • Continually work to better our processes, spotting areas we can improve to drive our function forward.
What we are looking for in you
  • Track record of exceptional achievement from high school and graduate studies.
  • Internship experience working in an HR/People team is beneficial, preferably in the Technology industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to prioritize complex workloads, manage time effectively and work well under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and results-orientated with a clear focus on accuracy.
  • High level of honesty, integrity, and ability to handle confidential data.
  • Flexible attitude and easily adaptable to change.
  • Willing to take the initiative and provide suggestions and ideas to contribute to the success of the role/team.
  • Ambitious to grow your career within HR.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events

About The Opportunity

In this role you will execute all frontline processes and policies as it pertains to the Global HR Operations. You’ll be heavily involved in the daily HR operation, such as the preparation of documents and benefit administration. You’ll be asked to proactively identify opportunities to enhance the service provided by HR and ultimately implement meaningful changes. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to shape the firm’s people-related practices/initiatives by applying external and internal contextual knowledge, including the Terms & Conditions of employment in worldwide locations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for our HK population, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve existing HR processes for HK employees, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Understand and fulfil the HR needs of HK employees and managers, providing excellent customer service while adhering to established processes and controls.
  • Collaborate to improve efficiency and consistently execute all HR business processes.
  • Lead the review, updating, and creation of employment documents for compliance in a HK workforce context, collaborating with key stakeholders. This includes templates, offer letters, employment contracts, consulting service agreements, and other employment-related documents.
  • Participate in special projects on a local and global basis as required (20% of the time).

  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum 5 years of HR Operation experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)
  • Strong customer orientation in the delivery of internal services
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple work streams rapidly and effectively
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving and the drive to think creatively
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure with frequent deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential information, professionally and appropriately
