Job Description

As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the company. You will act as the licensed Responsible Officer under the Insurance Authority, ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards. Your role includes overseeing financial planning, driving business development, and maintaining operational excellence. You will represent the company in dealings with regulators, auditors, and key stakeholders, while fostering a high-performance culture within the team.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field, along with a recognized insurance qualification such as ACII or ANZIIF. You should have at least 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, including 5 years in a senior leadership role within a brokerage firm. Eligibility to be approved as a Responsible Officer by the Hong Kong Insurance Authority is essential. A strong track record in business development, deep knowledge of compliance standards, and fluency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin are also required.

Your new role

  • Handle financial reporting and month-end closing in accordance to IFRS and HKFRS
  • Provide financial analysis and advice based on the budgets and cashflow of the firm
  • Oversee the regulatory reporting and submissions
  • Ensure internal controls and procedures are intact
  • Maintain finance system and regular enhancements
  • Handle financial control, including financial reporting and relevant tax matters
  • Act as a business partner with Senior Management across the business
  • Lead a small team and provide support and guidance when needed

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree with CPA Qualification is a plus
  • 8 Years of Accounting & Finance experience with exposure in P&C Insurance or Insurance Brokerage firms

  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude and able to work as a team-player

  • Apply all Underwriting elements for new business & renewals in handling the assignments of the highest complexity and works within delegated authorities, measuring exposure & analyzing risk, determining technical price according to certified/agreed pricing process, quoting & setting coverage, negotiating terms & conditions
  • Contribute to managing accounts; build relationships in support of customer/ business acquisition and retention (e.g. by handling a range of queries, providing advice to assist with the development of an account; implementing agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, thereby maintaining underwriting discipline
  • Timely update and use of Underwriting Scorecards and other MI tools & processes to proactively manage and improve the portfolios mix & performance and pipelines management

Job Qualifications

  • Degree holder
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in General Insurance program
  • Good multi-lines underwriting knowledge mainly on Property & Casualty business
  • Good knowledge & experience in evaluating middle market exposures as well as directing and assisting others in analyzing unusual risks
  • Experience & knowledge in negotiating mid-market deals; demonstrate in-depth experience with middle market customers and delivering customer service options
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and overcoming difficult issues with brokers and creating and delivering programs for addressing the needs of multiple or large producers
  • To be a team player
  • Fluency in English & Cantonese; Mandarin-speaking is an added advantage
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and selling skills – internal and external - Ability to develop strong relationships with key business partners whilst maximizing Company’s profitable growth objective
  • Ability to build trust & business relationships with customers and producers.

The Job

  • Carry out branch visits to establish rapport with bank sales representatives & management team

  • Assist in negotiating with bank branch managers/ insurance specialists on all sales & marketing aspects

  • Provide sales and distribution support to partners included conduct briefing, training, pre-case discussion and sales appointment join call

  • Follow up new application underwriting and policy service progress

  • Implement sales & marketing programs to ensure a consistent business sales growth

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department

  • Liaise with other departments to ensure operational service requirements of Bancassurance business partners are met

  • Participate in events, initiatives and activities to develop business opportunities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor



Person

  • University graduate with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Candidates with more supervisory experience may be considered for Senior Manager

  • Good command of written and spoken English & Chinese

  • Very strong in interpersonal, presentation & negotiation skills

  • Able to motivate the team with positive spirit

  • Candidate with less experience may be considered for Assistant Manager position

The Job

  • Carry out branch visits to establish rapport with bank sales representatives & management team

  • Assist in negotiating with bank branch managers/ insurance specialists on all sales & marketing aspects

  • Provide sales and distribution support to partners included conduct briefing, training, pre-case discussion and sales appointment join call

  • Follow up new application underwriting and policy service progress

  • Implement sales & marketing programs to ensure a consistent business sales growth

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department

  • Liaise with other departments to ensure operational service requirements of Bancassurance business partners are met

  • Participate in events, initiatives and activities to develop business opportunities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor


Person
  • University graduate with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Candidates with more supervisory experience may be considered for Senior Manager

  • Good command of written and spoken English & Chinese

  • Very strong in interpersonal, presentation & negotiation skills

  • Able to motivate the team with positive spirit

  • Candidate with less experience may be considered for Assistant Manager position

Retail Distribution – Wealth Sales Distribution

Hang Seng's Retail Distribution focuses on personal wealth management and financial services. Our one-stop wealth management initiatives are designed for both our affluent and mass integrated account customers. With around 255 branches and automated banking centres, including around 50 Prestige Banking Centres for our high-end personal customers, we serve over half of the adult population in Hong Kong while offering an extensive range of products to our valued customers.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our Wealth Sales Distribution as Prestige Insurance Sales Manager I.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead, execute and proactively implement advanced coaching techniques to motivate and encourage learning and re-enforce application within the work place
  • Provide guidance to insurance specialist in the branches, and also responsible for formulating and implementing tactics/strategies
  • Monitor and review current sales process in order to improve channel efficiency and customer experience
  • Enhance capabilities and professionalism of the sales force to improve overall customer satisfaction
  • Manage the performance and ensure the professionalism and sales quality of team members
  • Ensure that all control measures relevant to the job are undertaken to minimize risk exposure of the Bank
  • Adhere to all relevant processes and procedures of the Group compliance policy and internal controls


Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration or other relevant qualification.
  • Proven experience in retail banking, with strong knowledge of insurance products
  • Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities
  • Good presentation, interpersonal, negotiation, communication and analytical skills
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Passes in the Hong Kong Securities Institute Licensing Examination and Insurance Intermediaries Qualifying Examination and attains relevant professional qualifications such as CFP/CFMP/QRA/CFA an advantage
  • Customer centric mindset and ability to manage complex interactions effectively
  • Shown strong situation awareness, strong desire to learn and able to work in Agile environment
  • Able to inspire others to achieve their goals/ambitions in a variety of situations
  • Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.

Responsibilities
  1. Work with the Life Insurance Team to achieve business goals by identifying and capturing opportunities targeting HNW customers, including corporate banking and PRC customer segments.
  2. Maintain and expand the existing insurance portfolio.
  3. Assist in formulating marketing strategies for life insurance products.
  4. Provide professional customer services, including handling inquiries and after-sales services.
  5. Ensure all relevant control measures are properly implemented.
  6. Support ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
Requirements
  1. At least 3 years of experience in the Life Insurance field.
  2. Strong knowledge of life insurance with proven marketing experience.
  3. Experience dealing with corporate banking and PRC customers is preferred.
  4. Self-initiative, open-minded, and collaborative.
  5. Strong customer service orientation and commitment to continuous improvement.
  6. Passed IIQE Licensing Examinations.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Proficiency in both English and Chinese; native Putonghua speakers preferred.
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  10. Experience with corporate clients is an advantage.
  11. Candidates with more experience may be considered for senior roles.
