Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)

Must-Have

  • SME for technologies e.g., Routing, Switching, Data center technologies, Zscaler SASE, Cisco SD-WAN, Cisco WLAN, Firewalls and Load balancers.
  • In-depth technical experience and proficiency in deploying network system(s) implementation for large enterprise, data center routing switching environments and network micro-segmentation.
  • Hands-on experience in implementation and setup of high-availability, multi-layer datacenter networks.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Cisco SD-WAN operations and implementation experience.
  • Must have sound knowledge and implementation experience of Cisco Router and Switches (ASR, ISR, Nexus, Catalyst).
  • In-depth hands-on experience of advance IP routing and switching technologies, particularly BGP, EIGRP, SDWAN, OSPF, PBR, QOS, ECMP, VRRP, VPC and VXLAN.
  • Proficient with Cisco Systems, Palo Alto, F5, Checkpoint, Fortinet or equivalent

Good-to-Have

  • Experience in network monitoring tools E.g.: SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios etc.
  • Experience in ITSM tool (Service Now).
  • Industrial professional certification such as CCNP, CCIE is preferred.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements from regulators such as MAS, RBI etc.
  • Prior working experience as an IT professional in banking or financial institution is an advantage.

Role descriptions / Expectations from the Role

  • This role is in regional network team and this team manages APAC Network Operations + Project Implementations for one of the largest bank.
  • You would performing key role in this team as a SME and should be able to handle priority incidents independently and BAU changes implementation.
  • The candidate should be able to manage the transformation and inflight project implementation independently or with minimal guidance.
  • Gather the information from APAC branches IT teams related to Network, Processes, tools etc. and able to transfer knowledge to L2 team.
  • Support escalations and provide timely resolution related to Cisco SD-WAN, SASE, Enterprise, Data center network.
  • Active Involvement in problem tickets to provide RCA, improvement plans related to major and repeated incidents.
  • Able to support on the DR drills from Network Operations side.
  • Collaboration with internal teams eg: Data Center Services, End user computing, Project, Middleware, ITSM and APAC branches local IT teams along with external engagement with ISPs, system integrators and principal vendors eg: Cisco, Fortinet, Palo alto etc.
  • Responsible to plan, review and implementing vulnerabilities remediation as per bank procedures.
  • Able to perform role as Shift lead.
  • Must have a curious mindset and are interested to learn and adapt with the everchanging. technologies and requirements in the financial industry.
  • Prepare and present technical documentations. Ensure that the technical settings comply with company policy and regulatory requirements and work with stakeholders to align infrastructure direction.

Description & Requirements
The Bloomberg Network Triage team oversees and supports one of the largest private networks in the world. As part of this team, you will be responsible for the support of our Network, spanning over 100 node sites and connecting clients globally to over 1,500 exchanges, which is integral to the success of the company. You will provide reactive support to customers’ networking issues as well as proactive analysis to ensure the Bloomberg network maintains its position at the forefront of network stability and reliability.
In our APAC team, you will be joining a close-knit group of engineers who are not just passionate about technology, but keen to solve complex problems from analysing packets to working on network incidents. You will partner with a hardworking, approachable team with a diverse set of backgrounds across APAC to collaborate with colleagues around the world. You will also be a critical point of contact between the Network Engineering and Operations team and various internal groups to improve the quality of technical and telecommunication services.
We’ll Trust You To

  • Provide support for our global network using various proprietary & third-party platforms, from a variety of vendors including Juniper, Cisco and Palo Alto so our clients have access to our network at all times
  • Provide day-to-day support of Bloomberg’s market data infrastructure across in collaboration with other internal teams such as Technical Support, Network Production Engineering and Telecommunications
  • Resolve connectivity issues to our most critical customers, financial markets and stock exchanges
  • Adhere to strict deadlines, including the administration of internal ticketing systems in order to ensure any incidents are resolved as quickly as possible for our clients and projects are delivered on time
  • Provide hardware and software support for a multitude of network platforms including routers, firewalls and load balancers
You’ll Need To Have
  • A Networking Degree or similar industry standard networking or server qualification(s) (e.g. CCNA, JNCIA, or WCNA) or 2+ years of relevant work experience as a Network Operations Engineer / Network Engineer within an enterprise environment, troubleshooting and solving critical issues
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IGMP, PIM related internal and external network routing issues in a production environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage service issues with third party service providers, including ISPs and international telecom vendors
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving firewall, load balancing and proxy issues in a production environment
  • Demonstrated experience with applying analytical skills to problem solve issues and identify trends, working autonomously and collaboratively with external and internal partners
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
We’d Love To See
  • Experience working with stock exchanges and market data connectivity
  • Experience building monitoring dashboards using products like Grafana, Splunk and Humio
  • Understanding of financial markets and underlying technologies in data
  • Understanding of multicast deployments using IGMP/PIM/MVR

The role directly supports our Traders by performing reconciliation and control while continuously improving these processes. Supporting our growing trading operations, the Operations Team not only monitors and tracks our trading positions, but also continuously seeks opportunities to improve our systems and methods for doing so, in order to catch inefficiencies sooner and more accurately. The Operations Team obtains knowledge about procedures and processes and actively shares knowledge of new developments with colleagues internally as well as with our Trading and Risk teams globally. Due to the role being part of the broader Risk and Operations (RO) team, there are opportunities and potential to gain a broader scope within risk management.

What you will do

  • Responsible for daily trade bookings, resolving settlement issues and to monitor corporate action events for the firm
  • Responsible for the daily reconciliation and reporting of all trades, positions, cash holdings, costs and P&L attribution in a timely manner
  • Monitor and manage operational workflow and risk throughout the trade lifecycle
  • Adopt the use of technology and contribute to projects with the aim of ensuring work processes are optimised
  • Working closely with counterparties/custodians/prime brokers to on-board new businesses and resolve daily issues

What you need to succeed

  • 3 to 5 years of Mid-office/Operations experience preferably from buy-side (Hedge funds, Prop Trading) or Prime brokerage.
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Economics or related field
  • Product knowledge in listed equities, ETFs, derivatives and FX
  • Familiar with Asian securities markets and the respective rules preferred
  • Proficient in Excel, and practical experience in VBA, SQL and Python.
  • Ability to process and perform analysis with large datasets
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • A proactive, assertive, and flexible personality
  • Passion to work in a fast paced working environment
