Searching for Passionate and Purposeful Leaders who believe in TAL's mission: To lead change in how the world sustainably clothes itself.TAL Apparel employs around 20,000 people in Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Macau, Malaysia and Ethiopia, producing annually ca. 50 million pieces of garment for mid to high-end customers in the US, Europe and Asia. The company is divided into 4 Business Units (BUs) specializing in different product lines. DistrictOne (D1) focuses on formal wear for premium retail brands and is supported by well-established factories in Vietnam, Thailand and Ethiopia. The Material Sourcing Director is responsible for defining and executing the material sourcing strategy that aligns with D1’s business direction. The role drives continuous improvement projects, ensuring material services that attract and secure customer orders while supporting overall business targets.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the VP of Merchandising, define and propose a 3-year material sourcing strategy that integrates customer requirements, internal stakeholder needs and company-wide objectives.
- Analyse and respond to market trends, supplier dynamics and industry developments.
- Allocate business amongst qualified suppliers in line with product ranges, price ranges, production capability and capacity, and quality performance.
- Actively manage and strengthen supplier relationships, establishing mutual understanding and alignment on expectations.
- Negotiate and agree with suppliers on cost, payment terms and delivery lead times.
- Partner closely with factory procurement teams on material development and pre-production issues. Assist on liaising with the supplier to resolve issues when required.
- Proactively communicate with factory management to understand concerns with material supply and seek to address these in the material category strategy.
- Drive continuous improvements in the material sourcing process and updating the standard material procurement process when required.
- Act as subject matter expert on materials, advising internal customers on fabric and trims issues and arranging basic or in-depth material training as needed.
- Lead and develop the Material Team, establishing collaborative processes, setting goals and conducting regular performance and development reviews
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Textile Engineering or a related field.
- Min of 15 years work experience in material management in the apparel industry
- Experience in supplier management, strategic sourcing and negotiating supplier agreements
- Strong understanding of market trends, supplier capabilities, material quality standards and procurement processes
- Excellent network and relationships with a wide range of mills
- Technical knowledge of materials, both fabric and trims, including the manufacturing process
- Proven leadership, people management and team development skills
- Strong business communication and cross functional collaboration skills.

- Issue purchase orders and share them to vendors according to the strategy defined by the Sourcing and Buying Manager
- Manage and maintain purchase order (validation and modification through systems, execution of the supply plan)
- Fabric booking management (confirm quantity and send Fabric booking letter and maintain fabric inventory up to date in systems) in accordance with the commitment strategy defined by the Sourcing and Buying Manager and in collaboration with Fabric Team and Business Analyst
- Garment Booking management (confirm quantity and send garment booking letter and maintain garment inventory up to date in systems) in accordance with Capacity and Supply Planner, Business Analyst and Sourcing and Buying Manager
- Receive, send and manage sample library
- Support the handover of technical files
- Input claims settlement in collaboration with Senior Merchandisers through the system and inform internal and external partners
- Develop and promote fair business behavior keeping in mind social compliance and environmental as a priority
- Any other ad hoc duties as assigned
- Diploma/ Higher Diploma or above

About the Role:API is seeking a seasoned professional to join as a Sourcing Specialist. This role involves managing procurement processes for airline clients with hotel partners in assigned markets, including market analysis, industry trend identification, sourcing strategy formation, negotiations, and producing evaluation reports using Excel and PowerPoint.
Essential Functions:- Manage hotel sourcing projects, perform market research, develop industry knowledge, and maintain business relationships.
- Handle RFP/RFI processes via API’s proprietary sourcing technology, assess suppliers, negotiate terms, and secure offers.
- Collaborate with Account Managers to develop sourcing strategies and identify opportunities like reverse auctions.
- Research market trends to develop effective sourcing strategies.
- Create detailed evaluation reports and presentations, articulating sourcing results clearly.
- Adapt quickly to changing market conditions and needs.
- Aim for win-win solutions in all projects.
- Update and track information in Salesforce.
- Arrange site inspections for clients and team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Ensure response times meet airline SLAs.
- 2-3 years’ experience in procurement, with at least 2 years in a global role dealing with international suppliers.
- 2+ years in the travel industry, working with airlines and hotels preferred.
- Strong English skills; multilingual skills (French, Mandarin, Japanese, Hindi) a plus.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Job Accountabilities
- Lead and monitor supplier portal development as the key product owner
- Define long-term and mid-term strategies for digital sourcing and supply chain development
- Drive the digital sourcing strategy and execution (PMO) involves leading and overseeing digital sourcing initiatives to enhance the team’s daily operations and overall productivity
- Lead projects from conception to execution phase by identifying the right team, building project plans, and communicating with various stakeholders
- Break down complex business issues and build a roadmap to achieve strategy and deliver on it
- Define objective key results, lead and lag measures to track progress
- Monitor and adjust project plans and measures depending on varying business needs
- Influence and engage the key stakeholders, including C-level executives and the General Manager, to secure buy-in for the strategy
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to build compelling business cases for product enhancements and technological advancements
- Ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness of the product, encompassing all aspects of customer experience, performance, availability, and reliability
- Own the induction, coaching and development to create a high performing team with clear measures, development plans and support mechanisms as need
- Degree holder or above in Supply Chain Management, Business Operations, Operations Management, or other related disciplines
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, preferably with IT projects/ digitalization experience
- Experience as a product owner and with senior management influencing and communication
- Experience in consulting firms/ sourcing/ supply chain related functions in consumer goods sourcing offices or brands is preferred
- Solid understanding of the product life cycle, MVP, and iterative delivery methodologies
- Knowledge of end-to-end sourcing processes, systems and daily operations
- Agile certification holder is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address project-related issues
- Strong communication, presentation and storytelling skills to build storylines and business cases, and to effectively engage various stakeholders across different business functions
- Strong leadership and influencing skills to lead teams and projects, as well as to manage complex stakeholders effectively
- Change mindset and think strategically to always look for areas of improvement and navigate in complex business environment
- Proficient in both written and spoken Cantonese, English and Mandarin.

About the Role
We are looking for candidate who will be responsible for i) Primary focus in leading and managing the supplier engagements for Consulting Services across AIA globally; ii) Developing and executing the sourcing and supplier management strategy for Consulting Services, and other assigned categories; and iii) Execution of category plan, sourcing activities and cost management initiatives.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Primary focus is to lead the sourcing of various categories including marketing, human resources, travel/MICE, and some technology contracts
Supervise sourcing activities and strategies for other categories as assigned
Actively drive and direct Sourcing category plan and Key Supplier Management across different departments at Headquarter and local country teams
Responsible for sourcing execution including but not limited to internal requirement analysis, supply market analysis, sourcing strategy development, competitive bidding process, negotiation and contract review
Manage and collaborate with people at all levels, including senior management of business units and external vendors.
Ensure compliance to policies
Prepare Sourcing Management Reports for top managements with data input and analysis with insights
Support transformation projects to bring Sourcing function to best in class
University graduate with relevant advanced degree or professional certification such as CIPS/CPSM would be of advantage
Over 10 years of experience in managing Consulting Services end-to-end sourcing with high spend strategic negotiations of relevant procurement categories, at strategic level in international financial institutes
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to present and influence with top level internal and external parties
Self-motivated and able to work independently to drive cross functional team
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Asian language skills would be an advantage
