We are now recruiting for a Sustainability Analyst to be based in either Hong Kong or Shanghai. The successful candidate will have a passion for sustainability, data, enjoys working across varied cultures, and able to interact and communicate confidently with different stakeholders, both internally and externally.

About the role

This role reports to our Technical Manager – Fabric in the UK, who is based in Hong Kong, and will play a vital role in supporting the implementation of Tesco’s ambitious Planet Plan, which addresses our environmental impact on climate and nature. The successful candidate will use their expertise to help improve reporting, performance and achieve sustainability goals across the entire supply chain, from farmers to direct suppliers. Manage the housekeeping of documentation, liaising with key peers and business stakeholders to ensure our sustainability reports and assessments are produced to the required standard.

About the team

The Sustainability Team, sits within the broader Fabric team in Sourcing, and is responsible for implementing the Planet Plan. Ensuring the company and all levels of our supply chain can deliver our external sustainability commitments, as well as championing best practices internally and externally.

Our Sourcing strategy is all about empowerment. This means we trust our suppliers to deliver our high standards and we work in partnership with them to monitor their performance. Our focus is to develop, support and train their team members to consistently maintain standards that meet/exceed Tesco’s sustainability expectations.

Central to our Planet Plan is our commitment to reaching net zero across our full value chain by 2050. So, as well as working closely with a wide variety of internal functions & experts to build change within Tesco, our team actively participates in industry initiatives. This involves working collaboratively to drive transformation and systematic change across the industry as a whole, including SDGs and Paris agreements.

The successful candidate will have opportunities to represent Tesco in some of these forums, working with industry stakeholders to shape requirements for development of sustainability best practices now and for the future.

You will be responsible for

  • Supporting the delivery of the Tesco Planet Plan and external commitments (ZDHC, Greenpeace Detox, Cotton Pledge, Canopy, Textile Exchange, Textile 2030, TMC & etc) by working with our supply chain partners at all levels to provide data through different platforms and ensure sources are valid and traceable for reporting
  • Working in close collaboration with our Fabric & Technical teams across all Sourcing hubs and in the UK to identify gaps and drive performance across our supply chain
  • Working on projects that support our supply chain to achieve sustainability compliance and goals
  • Supporting our supply chain partners’ capability building through delivery of awareness and training
  • Feeding into our business dashboard and reports relevant external environmental & sustainability assessments (HIGG FEM/Amfori BEPI)
  • Conducting due diligence on our sustainability programs to improve ways of working
  • Engaging with stakeholders and attending relevant industry group calls to represent Tesco and provide expert input
  • Working with 3rd parties and stakeholders to collect data to complete sustainability dashboards or insights upon request

You will need

  • Understanding of consumer goods and raw material manufacturing processes
  • Experience of managing and delivering projects
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical skills, self-starter, with an eye for detail. Proficiency in MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to write compelling presentations using data to share ideas
  • Comfortable working independently or within a team, often across Tesco Sourcing regions.

  • Research and source certified recycled materials to incorporate into product design and manufacturing.

  • Develop and implement sustainable packaging solutions that minimize environmental impact and reduce waste.

3. Circular Economy & Recycling Program Enhancement

  • Expand and improve the company’s product recycling program, creating pathways for second-life product use and material recovery.
  • Partner with logistics, retail, and manufacturing teams to ensure an efficient take-back and recycling process.
  • Engage customers and partners in recycling initiatives, enhancing participation and awareness.

4. Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance

  • Establish and implement tracking mechanisms to monitor sustainability performance, ensuring measurable progress toward environmental goals.

The Senior Professional will lead a robust Social Sustainability Assessment Program to help ensure human rights due diligence and to drive continuous improvement on working condition for supply chain and to assure the quality work and develop capacity building activities for social compliance assessors and Management Action Plan(MAP) service providers. The Senior Professional will also provide clerical, research, analytical and administrative support in the assigned regions and will directly work with sourcing team, suppliers, agents, and licensors/licensees to support supply chain sustainability performance targets monitoring and tracking.
**Your Impact**
**Assessment Program Management** :
+ Partner with the social and labor team to develop the assessment strategy and optimize the assessment program including but not limited to UA own assessment protocol (UASATR), Social Labor Convergency Program (SLCP verification), Fair Labor Association assessment, Better Work Assessment
+ Schedule, track and communicate with third party audit firms on different types of social assessments throughout the supply chain
+ Manage the third-party auditing firms and audit quality control
**Remediation and Capability Building** :
+ Oversee the service providers to manage the MAP/remediation process and ensure that all issues identified in MAPs are closed out timely
+ Drive social sustainability issues' remediation by advising on recommendations, negotiating timeframes, sharing experiences and best practices, and helping management locate the necessary expertise
+ Manage all on-boarding factories remediation for authorization.
**Platform/system Management** :
+ Manage, maintain, and configure the platforms to support assessments and remediation, including cr360, myFLA, Wordly and Better Work Portal.
**Qualification**
+ Superior data analysis and communications skills, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, experience with Tableau, Power BI and/or sustainability-specific data platforms
+ Excellent command of English as well as a second language (Fluency in Chinese important)
+ Solid system and processes management and organizational skills
+ Attention to detail and quality management
+ Strong interpersonal skills with an openness to receiving and giving constructive feedback
+ Flexible work style and an ability to adapt and respond quickly to shifting priorities, and to identify and propose solutions to related challenges

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has long been committed to the local community in developing and promoting sports in Hong Kong. The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course (KSC), the first and only public golf course in Hong Kong, was built during 1994-95 with funds donated by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

The facilities, which are managed on a not-for-profit and self-financing basis, are aimed at providing quality, accessible and affordable golfing to the people of Hong Kong. Since 1995 over 3 million golfers have enjoyed playing the courses, thousands of new golf students have been taught the game and golf programmes have been delivered to schools across Hong Kong.

From the very beginning a high priority has been placed on managing the golf courses in an environmentally sustainable manner with the implementation of best management practices that have been internationally recognized. KSC was the first golf course in China to be certified as an Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary for Wildlife and first golf course in Asia Pacific to be certified by the Golf Environment Organization.

Job Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide effective and efficient secretarial and administrative support to the Deputy General Manager
  • Collaborate with the Safety and Sustainability Manager and other relevant departments to gather and consolidate environmental data
  • Assist in maintaining and updating internal documents in line with the established sustainability governance framework
  • Assist in organizing activities to promote a culture of sustainability among managers and staff at the Golf Course

Job Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma holder in Secretarial Studies, Administration, Sustainability Management, or related disciplines
  • At least 10 years of administrative and secretarial experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role within a sizable organization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing priorities and working effectively under pressure
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Experience with social and environmental compliance standards is an advantage

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has long been committed to the local community in developing and promoting sports in Hong Kong. The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course (KSC), the first and only public golf course in Hong Kong, was built during 1994-95 with funds donated by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
The facilities, which are managed on a not-for-profit and self-financing basis, are aimed at providing quality, accessible and affordable golfing to the people of Hong Kong. Since 1995 over 3 million golfers have enjoyed playing the courses, thousands of new golf students have been taught the game and golf programmes have been delivered to schools across Hong Kong.
From the very beginning a high priority has been placed on managing the golf courses in an environmentally sustainable manner with the implementation of best management practices that have been internationally recognized. KSC was the first golf course in China to be certified as an Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary for Wildlife and first golf course in Asia Pacific to be certified by the Golf Environment Organization.
Job Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide effective and efficient secretarial and administrative support to the Deputy General Manager
  • Collaborate with the Safety and Sustainability Manager and other relevant departments to gather and consolidate environmental data
  • Assist in maintaining and updating internal documents in line with the established sustainability governance framework
  • Assist in organizing activities to promote a culture of sustainability among managers and staff at the Golf Course
Job Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma holder in Secretarial Studies, Administration, Sustainability Management, or related disciplines
  • At least 10 years of administrative and secretarial experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role within a sizable organization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing priorities and working effectively under pressure
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Experience with social and environmental compliance standards is an advantage

As a Senior Manager - Vendor Compliance and Sustainability , you will play a pivotal role in driving and enhancing social and sustainability initiatives across Li & Fung’s vendor network. You will lead sustainability related projects with an emphasis on hardgoods, including project management, comprehensive data analysis, capacity building support to factories and vendors. Your expertise will ensure that vendor compliance and sustainability efforts are seamlessly integrated to foster long-term environmental and social responsibility throughout the supply chain.

Here is what you need to know about this role:

  • Lead and develop sustainability programs and initiatives for responsible business unit(s), ensuring tracking of sustainability goals in line with the broader sustainability strategy.
  • Liaison among clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders on compliance and sustainability matters.
  • Identify and manage environmental sustainability issues, concerns and stakeholder interests relevant to the company.
  • Coordinate with various teams and internal/external stakeholders to design environmental impact reduction strategies and lead the implementation of prioritized initiatives to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Roll out systems to measure the progress of environmental initiatives. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these initiatives with an aim to achieve set environmental and targets.
  • Assist in establishing sustainability targets for business units, lead verification work and analyze data for corporate reporting.
  • Contribute to foster sustainability awareness across all levels and functions, and address any internal and customer inquiries regarding stainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or Sustainability.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in sustainability or corporate social responsibility. Experiences in working with supply chain partners/factories, particularly in hardgoods and/or packaging sustainability, would be an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of corporate environmental issues including energy, greenhouse gas emissions, science-based targets, water management, waste reduction, and effective goal-setting, as well as, designing initiatives for reduction and measuring progress.
  • Skilled in securing stakeholder support for implementing environmental initiatives and programs both internally and externally in a large organization
  • Proficient in technical environmental footprint calculation methodologies and frameworks.
  • Proven track records in implementing sustainability solutions in supply chain and managing environmental programs against set KPIs.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization, with cross-functional teams across various geographical regions to deliver result in a timely manner, respond to changing demands, anticipate potential issues, and recommend preventive courses of action.
  • Ability to engage with senior leadership and key external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities in both English and Mandarin.
  • Skilled in multitasking and able to stay calm and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Demonstrate the highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project delivery in sustainability engineering such as green building assessment and certification (BEAM Plus, LEED, China Green Building etc.), sustainable design and planning, energy study etc.;
  • Carry out building performance modeling and analysis such as energy, daylight, solar, ventilation, thermal comfort etc.;
  • Prepare technical reports, presentation and other project deliverables;
  • Project team coordination and project meeting attendance;
  • Assist business development activities;
  • Perform other job-related duties as required

Requirements

  • Degree in Built Environment / Building Services Engineering / Energy Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Environmental Engineering. PhD and Master degrees are advantageous;
  • Knowledge with BEAM Plus / LEED is preferred;
  • 2-year relevant experience with sustainable design modeling software is preferred (eQuest, IES, Ecotect, Fluent, Phoenics, etc);
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is necessary;
  • Self-motivated and hardworking;
  • Candidates with more experience will be considered as Senior Consultant
