Responsibilities

·    Receive and process specimens: Accept incoming patient samples (e.g., blood, urine, tissue), verify patient information and labelling, log details into the laboratory information system (LIS).

·    Perform data entry and record keeping: Enter test orders, patient demographics, and results into computer systems; maintain accurate logs of specimens received, tests performed, and any discrepancies noted.

• Handle reporting and distribution: Prepare and distribute lab reports to healthcare providers, ensure timely delivery of results via fax, email, or electronic health records, and file completed reports for archival purposes.
• Assist with inquiries and communication: Answer phone calls and emails from patients, physicians, and staff regarding test statuses, specimen requirements, or general lab information; direct complex queries to senior staff or supervisors.
• Manage inventory and supplies: Track and restock basic lab supplies such as tubes, labels, and forms; alert supervisors to low inventory levels and assist in unpacking and organizing deliveries.
• Support specimen collection and logistics: Prepare collection kits for outpatient or off-site draws, coordinate pickup schedules with couriers, and ensure proper packaging and labelling for transported samples.
• Perform general administrative tasks: Handle billing codes for tests, process insurance forms if applicable, photocopy documents, and support clerical aspects of audits or proficiency testing.
• Collaborate with lab team: Work alongside technicians and senior clerks to facilitate workflow, provide backup during peak times, and participate in team meetings or training sessions as required.

Requirements

• Form 5 graduate or above, 1 year relevant experience is a plus;
• Willing to learn, well-organized, detail-minded, responsible and industrious personality;
• Able to work independently & under pressure on multiple priorities and tasks;
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese typing;
• Good command in spoken Cantonese and Mandarin;
• Good telephone manner and communications skills;
• Needs to perform shift rotation duties per day (Early shift: 8:30am to 6:00pm, Late shift: 9:30am to 7:00pm)
