Job Responsibilities

• Perform all initial specimen preparation
• Responsible for specimen receipt and distribution
• Pack and distribute laboratory consumables to collection centres
• Manage storage and disposal of processed specimens
• Responsible for patient registration, specimen collection and all related administration duties
• Responsible for results entry and report typing
• Responsible for scheduling send out specimens to reference/ other laboratories
• Perform other laboratory duties as assigned by bench in-charge/ MLTs

Qualifications

• High Diploma or above with related science discipline
• Shift duty is required (no overnight shift)
• Good command of written and spoken Chinese and English
• Good telephone manner

Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Technical Officer / Senior Laboratory Assistant / Laboratory Assistant (Ref.: H01/2025/039), on a fixed-term basis.

Applicants should possess a recognized Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory, Life Science, Biological, Biotechnology, Biomedical, Electronic or any related disciplines

They should have a good command of written and spoken Chinese and English; good coordination, be hard working, possess problem-solving skills, and be highly motivated with a strong sense of responsibility. Additionally, they should have the ability to work independently and in a team, with at least two years of experience in team management for a senior position.

The appointee will report to the Research Director and the Technical Manager and be responsible for supporting daily operations of laboratories, with on-job training to be provided, duties including:

• Assist in handling routine laboratory tasks to ensure a safe and clean working environment
• Manage the procurement of lab consumables and equipment
• Provide technical support and training on lab equipment
• Assist in record keeping and data entry
• Keep close communication with equipment manufacturers and coordinate the delivery and installation
• Possess good computer knowledge and the ability to perform analysis work
• Perform any other duties as assigned

Senior Laboratory Assistant/Technical Officer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (2 posts) (Ref: to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Multiple openings are available with specialisation in the areas of Information Technology and Electronics Engineering.  Applicants should possess a recognised Bachelor's degree/Higher Hiploma in Information or Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering or related disciplines, with at least 2 years' relevant post-qualification work experience in the areas of circuit/network design, hardware maintenance and basic machinery operation.  They should have a good command of written and spoken Chinese and English, and computer literacy; be confident in working independently, ready to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Those with a first-aid training certificate are desirable. Applicants with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment as Senior Laboratory Assistant.

The appointees will provide comprehensive technical services for staff in both teaching and research activities; manage and ensure the safety of laboratories; purchase and repair equipment; prepare and maintain technical documentation; assist project students; and perform other duties as assigned.
