Our client is a high-growth fintech company transforming (specific fintech sector, e.g., digital payments, wealthtech, blockchain, or cross-border financial services) with innovative, technology-driven solutions tailored for the dynamic Asia market. With significant traction in Hong Kong and ambitious plans for regional expansion, we are seeking a strategic and visionary General Counsel to join our C-suite leadership team. This role will play a pivotal part in driving our growth across Asia while ensuring compliance with complex regulatory frameworks.Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Counsel will serve as the company’s chief legal officer and a key member of the C-suite, providing strategic legal and regulatory guidance to support our mission of revolutionizing financial services in Hong Kong and across Asia. The role demands deep expertise in fintech regulations, a strong understanding of the Asian market, and the ability to navigate cross-jurisdictional challenges. The General Counsel will partner with the executive team to shape corporate strategy, manage risk, and position as a market leader in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Legal Leadership: Provide high-level legal and strategic counsel to the CEO, board, and C-suite on business strategy, product innovation, market expansion, and partnerships in Hong Kong and Asia.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Hong Kong’s financial regulations (e.g., HKMA, SFC) and other key Asian jurisdictions (e.g., MAS in Singapore, CSRC in China, JFSA in Japan), including licensing, AML/CFT, data privacy (e.g., PDPO, GDPR, China’s PIPL), and consumer protection laws.
- Corporate Governance: Develop and enforce robust corporate governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with Hong Kong and regional legal standards and best practices.
- Cross-Border Transactions: Oversee legal aspects of cross-border partnerships, joint ventures, and M&A activities, ensuring compliance with multi-jurisdictional regulations.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate high-stakes commercial agreements, including strategic partnerships, vendor contracts, and technology licensing deals, with a focus on Asia-specific considerations.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate legal, regulatory, and operational risks associated with new products, market entries, and innovative business models.
- Intellectual Property: Safeguard the company’s IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and proprietary technology, with a focus on protecting innovations in competitive Asian markets.
- Litigation and Regulatory Engagement: Manage legal disputes, regulatory inquiries, and investigations, liaising with external counsel and regulators such as the HKMA, SFC, or other regional bodies.
- Fundraising and Capital Markets: Provide legal oversight for fundraising activities, including venture capital, private equity, and potential IPOs in Hong Kong or other Asian exchanges (e.g., HKEX, SGX).
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing legal team across Hong Kong and key Asian markets, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary legal liaison with regulators, industry bodies (e.g., FinTech Association of Hong Kong), investors, and strategic partners to advance the company’s objectives.
- Policy Advocacy: Monitor and influence fintech-related regulations and policies in Hong Kong and Asia, representing the company in regional industry forums and regulatory discussions.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree from an accredited institution and active membership in good standing with the Hong Kong Law Society or another recognized bar.
- 12+ years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, ideally as General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel in fintech, financial services, or technology sectors.
- Deep expertise in Hong Kong’s financial regulations (e.g., SFO, AMLO) and familiarity with regulatory frameworks across Asia (e.g., Singapore, mainland China, Japan).
- Proven experience advising on cross-border transactions, fundraising, or capital markets activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Strong understanding of data privacy laws (e.g., Hong Kong’s PDPO, China’s PIPL, GDPR) and cybersecurity regulations relevant to fintech.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills, with fluency in English and preferably Mandarin and/or Cantonese to navigate the Asian market.
- Business-oriented mindset with the ability to balance legal risks with commercial opportunities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Experience building and leading legal teams in Hong Kong or across multiple Asian jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with emerging fintech trends such as blockchain, digital assets, or cross-border payments is highly desirable.
- Strong network with regulators, industry bodies, and legal communities in Hong Kong and Asia is a plus.

About This Role
The Research Compliance team is a dynamic and innovative function which enables the expansion of our fastest-growing business segments globally. As the Research Compliance Associate you will report into the Research Compliance Manager based in Hong Kong and work alongside the Research teams to enable a safe end-to-end delivery of our Research products. - Years 0–2: Our Research Compliance Associates are responsible for reviewing research to ensure it aligns with our legal and compliance framework and upholds company standards. - Years 2+: As a Senior Research Compliance Associate, you’ll take ownership of key compliance initiatives while leading and mentoring team members to drive excellence.

About This Role
The Research Compliance team is a dynamic and innovative function which enables the expansion of our fastest-growing business segments globally. As the Research Compliance Associate you will report into the Research Compliance Manager based in Hong Kong and work alongside the Research teams to enable a safe end-to-end delivery of our Research products. You will also collaborate with the Legal and Client Protection teams, as well as a number of other stakeholders across the business. Your responsibilities include:
- Review expert profiles and project requirements for the delivery of expert knowledge to our clients by the Research team
- Format, proofread, and screen written output (transcripts) specifically to ensure that all information complies with AlphaSights’ legal and compliance policies and applicable regulatory requirements
- Work with the Research team and other stakeholders across the business to resolve any compliance flags
- Provide legal and compliance training to the Research team and other stakeholders
- Draft and maintain compliance policies for our Research services

- Fantastic proofreading experience and acute attention to detail
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage time, remain highly organized and swiftly execute within a fast-paced environment
- Persistence, drive, and a goal-focused mindset as you own projects from initiation to completion
- Bachelor's degree, with strong academic credentials in any field and noteworthy extracurricular leadership
- 0-1 year of work experience as a Compliance Associate, Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or similar roles. Recent graduates with high potential are also welcomed
- Track record of strong academic performance
- Extracurricular achievement throughout school and university
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in a relevant foreign language is a plus
- Years 0–2: Our Research Compliance Associates are responsible for reviewing research to ensure it aligns with our legal and compliance framework and upholds company standards. They are dedicated to maintaining core compliance principles and ensuring all research meets AlphaSights’ and clients' expectations.
- Years 2+: As a Senior Research Compliance Associate, you’ll take ownership of key compliance initiatives while leading and mentoring team members to drive excellence.
- Years 3+: Research Compliance Managers oversee the compliance programme of the region, build and manage high performing teams independently, and drive innovations in our processes, policies and products.
