We are looking to hire an Assistant Manager - Financial Reporting to join our team in Hong Kong

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to overseas finance teams in daily accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions in accordance with accounting principles.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of the overseas finance teams’ reports submission to ensure adherence to accounting standards, group policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Support the preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial reports, contributing to the overall financial reporting process.
  • Contribute to the year-end audit process, preparing necessary documentation and liaising with auditors to ensure compliance with auditing standards.
  • Support finance-related projects, applying financial expertise to improve processes and systems within the finance function.
  • Undertake ad-hoc financial assignments and projects, support the finance team in achieving its objectives.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field, with foundational knowledge in accounting practices and financial reporting.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably with Big 4 experience or a role focused on financial reporting.
  • Pursuit of a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is advantageous, reflecting a commitment to professional growth.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite), enabling efficient financial analysis and reporting.
  • Good communication skills in English and Chinese, with the ability to articulate financial information effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS (for standalone company)
  • Oversee and review general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and proper classification
  • Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations (e.g. intercompany balances, accruals, prepayments, other receivables and other payables)
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and profitability analysis, providing insights to management
  • Undertake special projects and ad hoc analyses as required by senior management or business needs


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly preferred
  • Professional accounting qualification is highly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years experience in finance or accounting roles, with experience in audit field is a plus
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles
  • Experience with Netsuite accounting systems is highly desirable
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling)

Job Description

  • General ledger to source reconciliation, and work along with other team members on financial accounting and controls duties;
  • Month-end closing, preparation of journal entries and supporting schedules for posting to ledger;
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of inter-companies accounts with affiliates and to investigate any discrepancies noted;
  • Analyze material variance on the financial results in the course of month-end closing process, and provide input to team members for explaining the variance;
  • Prepare schedules and reporting package to fulfil group reporting requirements;
  • Preparation of financial disclosure and annual reports and other financial disclosure
  • Support internal and external audits and review of financial statements
  • Participate in Finance projects to take initiative on driving changes in workflow and processes
  • Prepare HKMA regulatory returns and provide inputs for other returns if necessary
  • Participate into banking return automation and various system enhancement projects
  • Perform assessment on the regulatory reporting treatment for current / new products and business
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree holder, preferred with major in Accounting, Finance and Business Administrations;
  • Qualified accountant preferred;
  • With three to five years work experience in financial institutions or banks audit at CPA firms
  • Growth mindset to aim at development personally and contribute to the team
  • Ability to work under pressures and multi-tasking
  • Attentive to details and accuracy and drive for process efficiency

Position Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting will be a key member of the Asia Investment Operations team, responsible for managing all aspects of Fund Accounting, Fund Financial Reporting, and Tax matters across the Company's Investment Fund platforms, including but not limited to:

  • Assist with audits of managed funds, pension funds, QFII, SPVs, etc., and other BAU matters (Management fees, Trailer fees, Fund expense management, etc.).
  • Review existing processes periodically to identify improvements and ensure the operating model governance remains current and accurate.
  • Develop and execute a roadmap to address gaps and implement process/policy improvements for better collaboration and efficiency within the wider Operations group (e.g., promoting synergy between pension fund and other Asia platforms).
  • Support and lead new projects with a focus on automation.
  • Advise on Fund Accounting workflows to standardize processes across Asia to enhance efficiency.
  • Review processes for standardization and automation opportunities, engaging with external service providers like fund administrators, custodians, and tax advisors.
  • Assist with annual tax compliance and the implementation of tax processes across Funds in Asia.
  • Handle internal control tasks, support tax-related projects, audits, and remediation of tax audit issues.
  • Provide support on tax aspects such as withholding tax documentation, tax treaty benefits, GST reclaims, and tax implications of new products and seed capital.
  • Support the Fund NAV process by implementing rules (e.g., tax provisions, withholding tax liabilities) and overseeing tax reclaims from various jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with external tax agents, ensuring compliance with tax obligations, policies, and regulations.
  • Stay updated on financial, tax, and accounting developments in Asia and communicate relevant impacts to stakeholders.Required Qualifications
    • University degree with recognized professional designation in accounting.
    • 7+ years of experience in financial reporting for investment funds, preferably with Big 4 firms.
    • Strong knowledge of IFRS/HKFRS/Lux GAAP and regulatory reporting for investment funds, including tax issues (Luxembourg, Cayman, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc.).
    • Familiarity with tax laws and upcoming regulatory changes in key Asian jurisdictions (Singapore, Hong Kong, India, China, Malaysia, etc.) is an asset.
    • Knowledge of Net Asset Value calculations, fund accounting practices, dividend distribution, and fee calculation.
    • Strong business partnering and interpersonal skills, with experience negotiating and influencing stakeholders.
    • Excellent command of English and Chinese (preferred).
    • People-oriented personality with strong communication skills, capable of tailoring messages to diverse audiences, including senior executives.
    • Minimal travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for DBS HK entities financial and regulatory reporting process (covering HKMA, SFC and SG MAS regulatory reporting)
  • Lead the preparation of all annual and interim financial statements in compliance with local accounting standard and HKMA disclosure requirements
  • Lead a team to ensure timely and accurate submission of head office reporting and regulatory returns
  • Coordinate financial disclosure and regulatory reporting of the new requirements (e.g. new Basel III Reform)
  • Perform assessment on the accounting and regulatory reporting treatment for current / new products and business, including general ledger booking logic and the financial and regulatory reporting impact
  • Perform impact assessment and work with relevant department to implement new accounting standards
  • Representing Finance in cross bank system implementation and process change and financial system change experience preferred
  • Have desire to drive change with an objective to improve efficiency and enhance control
  • Manage internal and external audits, and financial disclosures review

Requirements

  • Degree holder in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines and a qualified accountant
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in financial institutions (primarily locally incorporated banks with SFC licensed entity exposure or audit firms) and currently in managerial level
  • Strong knowledge on banking products and related accounting and regulatory reporting treatment
  • Good knowledge on financial control framework for banks
  • Good writing skills, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and good people management
  • Attentive to details and accuracy and drive for process efficiency
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Exposure to HK Tax is preferred
