We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineering Manager aspiring for a world-class devops and gitops engineering management challenge, bringing together operations management, software engineering and product development, and team leadership in a single high-value role. You will need to be a Linux and operations expert, as well as a great manager capable of leading a high-performance team, to excel in this role.

The Information Systems team at Canonical runs services used by over 60 million Ubuntu users. Our mission is to pioneer and prove new and better approaches to large-scale IS. We support Canonical and Ubuntu operations, but we also help shape Canonical's managed application service offerings, raising the bar on devops and cloud-native operations. We take infra-as-code to the next level, blazing a trail to next-generation model-driven operations. We not only aim to automate every process that underpins our business, we also share that automation as open source packages which others use to drive their own operations. From Kubernetes to the kernel and everything in-between, you will be working with the latest technologies in a fast-paced engineering environment.

We have fully distributed, home-based teams in EMEA, APAC and the Americas. You will lead a team in your time zone, and report to a global director who may not be in your time zone.

Location : This role will be based remotely in the APAC region.

The role entails

  • Lead your team in daily agile devops practices
  • Represent the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams
  • Organize, coordinate and drive internal projects
  • Mentor engineers to improve their skills
  • Identify and measure team health indicators
  • Implement structured engineering and operations processes
  • Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
  • Work to meet service level agreements with customer deployments around the globe
  • Deliver quality managed services in a consistent, timely manner

What we are looking for in you

  • Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations
  • Proven experience of software delivery using infrastructure as code
  • Proven experience managing devops teams for SAAS or similar offerings
  • Understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
  • Technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems
  • Experience with cloud topologies and technologies
  • Ability to travel twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long
  • An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university

Nice-to-have skills

  • Experience with Ubuntu system administration
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies
  • Experience working in and managing distributed teams

The Job

You will:

  • Manage the application operation/infrastructure team on daily BAU support and service management tasks
  • Lead a team with members from various internal functional areas and external service providers to deliver a Club-wide data platform within the given timeframe and resources
  • Automation of operational tasks to improve the efficiency of the team
  • Lead the team to manage and resolve incidents with minimal impact and take care of problem management for incident prevention
  • Provide management reports of operation status and KPI regularly to management and provide continuous improvements
  • Working closely with the project team and Cloud team on Capacity planning of infrastructure resources, and managing, project, monitoring, and optimising the Cloud spending of the Club-wise data platform
  • Recommend a Cloud/on-premises architecture and infrastructure for the new data analytics platform in an efficient and scalable environment
  • Contribute to the Cloud standards, requirements, and configuration of the hardware and system software required based on the agreed architecture
  • Prepare infrastructure and technical requirements for the new data analytics platform technology architecture
  • Manage vendor to implement system infrastructure (hardware and system software) and IT solution infrastructure based on the agreed infrastructure requirements and standards
  • Analyse non-functional and technical requirements to ensure the application performance and availability meet the business users and IT’s requirements
  • Provide training and coaching to internal IT people on the new data analytics platform technology
  • Participate and contribute positively to create a diverse and inclusive culture with trust and respect. Play an active role to support cross-team/division/department efforts and model collaborative behaviours


About You

You should have:

  • A bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in Cloud operation management
  • Experience in vendor management and infrastructure projects is a plus
  • Exposure and experience in Cloud infrastructure management in AWS/Azure are necessary
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle in waterfall and agile delivery approaches
  • Hands-on experience in managing an offshore team, multiple vendors, contractors and subcontractors
  • Hands-on experience in managing operations with a variety of platforms and technologies
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Demonstration of proven project management skills in managing IT project resources, timelines, budgets, deliverables and risks
  • Excellent analytical mind and problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Good awareness of commercial and contractual issues
  • Strong ability in problem troubleshooting and diagnosis
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English, Cantonese and Putonghua
  • knowledge in ITIL, IT operations, project methodology and tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation (IT teams, business users) and with external vendors
  • Agile / Scrum Master Certification (e.g.SAFe) is preferred

Strategic Planning:

Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company goals

Collaborate with leadership to set operational objectives and KPIs

This position is responsible for driving the business development and brand promotion of the company’s brands (including HP, Acer, Predator, Lenovo) across multiple markets such as the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Europe. Main Responsibilities:

Brand Product Sales & Promotion:

Responsible for the sales and brand management of HP-branded SSD and DRAM products in various markets;

Promote sales of Acer and Predator dual-brand SSD/DRAM/memory card products;

Develop Lenovo-branded SSD business to increase brand market share and visibility.

Actively explore potential business opportunities, including new clients, channels, distribution partners, projects, and bidding opportunities;

Understand regional market characteristics and industry trends, and formulate corresponding sales strategies.

Customer Relationship & Maintenance:

Maintain good communication and cooperation with existing clients, assist in solving sales and technical issues, and enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty;

Regularly collect local market intelligence and propose constructive suggestions and strategic adjustments.

Responsible for formulating and executing quarterly and annual sales plans to ensure achievement of sales and gross margin targets;

Analyze sales data, track performance, and manage budgets.

Channel & Regional Operations:

Familiarity with one or more of the following market channels is a plus: Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the Middle East, Europe, etc.;

Establish and maintain good cooperation with local agents, distributors, and retailers to enhance brand coverage.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or above, majoring in International Trade, Marketing, Information Technology, Electronics, or related fields is a plus;

At least 3 years of experience in international business or brand channel sales, preferably with a background in IT hardware or storage product sales;

Familiarity with SSD, DRAM, memory card product features and markets is preferred;

Good command of English in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, able to communicate fluently with international clients;

Proactive, with excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills, able to work independently and adapt to cross-cultural work environments;

Willing to travel overseas occasionally to support business expansion needs.
