Entry Requirements:

Candidates should have -

(a) (i) obtained a bachelor's degree in Architecture or Architectural Studies from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, or a degree recognised by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects; and

(ii) at least three years' relevant experience in architectural or urban design field with solid knowledge on building and architectural design, preparing presentation materials as well as Building (Planning) Regulations (such as PNAP APP- 152 Sustainable Building Design Guidelines, etc). Experience in preparing statutory building plan submission and knowledge in statutory planning system is an advantage;

or

(iii) obtained a Diploma in Architecture or Architectural Studies from a Hong Kong university or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent; and

(iv) at least five years' relevant experience in architectural or urban design field with solid knowledge on building and architectural design, preparing presentation materials as well as Building (Planning) Regulations (such as PNAP APP- 152 Sustainable Building Design Guidelines, etc). Experience in preparing statutory building plan submission and knowledge in statutory planning system is an advantage;

(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (See Note (1) below);

(c) good design flair, stylist free hand architectural drawing skills and good computer-aided architectural presentation techniques to effectively communicate design concepts/development proposals in an artistic manner;

(d) sound knowledge in the use of computer design software such as Microstation, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max/3D Studio Viz, Revit, Photoshop, SketchUp, Microsoft Office as well as BIM; knowledge in animation production, video editing skills and the use of Adobe Creative Suite will be an advantage;

(e) knowledge or experience in managing computer hardware and software system will be an advantage; and

(f) ability to work independently and maintain team work under tight schedule and pressure as well as communicate effectively with professionals of the department.

Note:

(1) For the purpose of appointment of non-civil service contract staff, 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth;

(2) Candidates should provide detailed resume and supporting portfolio (max. ten A4 pages) detailing the qualifications attained, previous job responsibilities and specific projects that have been engaged, especially those related to the requirements of this post; and

(3) Suitable candidates will be invited to an interview. A trade test may be required.

Duties:

To assist the professional staff in -

(a) preparing architectural schematic layouts and design schemes, master plan, graphic presentation (such as conceptual sketches, etc.) and visual presentation materials (such as photo-realistic graphic illustrations, 3D animation and rendering, 3D interactive modelling etc.) for town planning/development proposals and public presentation purposes;

(b) testing visual impacts/conducting visual analysis due to different development scenario of development intensity, height, massing and building disposition;

(c) providing support for in-house planning/urban design reviews;

(d) checking the accuracy of photomontages, architectural presentations and layouts of development proposals in submissions under the Town Planning Ordinance, Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance and relevant studies, especially for the visual impact assessments and air ventilation assessments, and rendering graphical support to the relevant deliverables as appropriate;

(e) preparing master layout/concept plan, Urban Design Framework, Urban Design Master Plan and diagrams to illustrate urban design concepts and measures; and

(f) providing training on various skills and techniques especially related to schematic design and high quality and photo-realistic graphic presentations to staff of the department.

(May be required to work in remote areas and work outside normal working hours and/or in irregular hours.)

Terms of Appointment:

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for one year.

Fringe Benefits

An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity/paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written test without being subject to further shortlisting. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
