Role Summary

The Performance Analyst is responsible for developing and implementing quantitative investment analysis and performance analysis utilizing a variety of data-oriented systems, tools and financial databases. The position has a charter to support the relevant quantitative analytical needs of Investment Management and internal reporting teams. Provides in-depth technical and broad subject matter expertise over critical and complex performance and statistical functions. Responsible to deliver performance and attribution reporting services to the local office and its clients.

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret investment-related data to help inform Investment Management’s decision-making process and support operational capabilities to deliver performance services for new clients and for complex products and /or securities. An ability to utilize a wide variety of investment and performance and attribution tools, as well as to develop custom solutions is required.
  • Demonstrates mastery of analytical methods and tools by responding to complex ad-hoc analytical and reporting requests on daily basis from Investment Management and Global Client reporting teams.
  • Serves as an escalation point for any issues or questions that arise from a systems or business process perspective. Responsible for managing relationships with affected parties on progress or issues to ensure deadlines and expectations are met.
  • Responsible for documenting unique regional requirements, both current and long-term performance needs, establish priorities, set expectations, seek feedback and exercise influence and expertise to lead appropriate actions or strategies for addressing these concerns within the larger performance organization.
  • Responsible for delivering timely attribution reports (equity, fixed income and multi-asset), investigating and explaining anomalous or unexpected attribution results, and collaborating with investment team to analyze the impact of investment decisions on performance. Supports client reporting by providing insightful attribution analysis.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND
  • 5+ years of total relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated technical or industry knowledge
  • Technical knowledge of performance, GIPS, and global financial markets and processes
  • CIPM or CFA certification is preferable
  • Advanced Excel skills; Knowledge in SQL
  • Experience in performance and attributions systems like Factset PA, Bloomberg PORT
  • Knowledge in Power BI, Python and R is preferred
  • Must work well independently and take initiative with assigned projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Understanding of business software/systems analysis techniques

Role Summary

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a AWM Operations Project Manager to manage and execute projects for AWM Operations, including detailed business analysis; it will offer the candidate opportunities to lead and direct components of the AWM Operations change agenda in partnership with the Business Unit and other key stakeholder groups. The candidate should have proven experience in project management with solid business analysis skills and should be adept at forming and leveraging effective networks with project partners and across the Firm. Knowledge of the wealth management sector is an advantage.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships, driving strategic automation solutions by embracing a transformation mindset and challenging the status quo.

This is a Director position within Change, Analytics & Strategy, which is responsible for developing operating and technology strategies, managing and executing transformation initiatives, leading Agile fleet activities, driving innovation, developing analytics solutions and delivering business outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct hands on detailed business analysis, problem solving and testing in support of projects to maintain progress and guide others
  • Work closely with Technology partners to design, develop and implement technology platforms to deliver solutions to meet business requirements
  • Ensure maintenance of all supporting documentation with comprehensive traceability and audit materials including plans, issues logs, requirements documents, test plans and scripts and implementation strategies
  • Manage and direct projects and initiatives for AWM Operations and in support of the AWM Business Unit, tracking progress throughout the project lifecycle, escalating issues and ensuring effective delivery to time and budget
  • Lead the appropriate governance and working group forums to facilitate project progress and ensure all components remain on track
  • Participate and represent AWM Ops CTB in governance forums to ensure project statuses and AWM Operations issues are clearly articulated
  • Manage stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle to ensure all invested parties are apprised of progress and issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Provide support and direction to the rest of the AWM Ops CTB team including people management The candidate must have 6+ years of business analysis and project management experience. He/she must have ability to develop strong relationships with various teams across the firm and excellent communications skills to achieve desired results. Project experience in wealth management business and/or Operations is an advantage.

What You’ll Bring

  • Functional: Strong business analysis and project management skills and experience are mandatory: he/she must be able to demonstrate analytical skills and critical thinking, able to prioritise, plan, execute and deliver projects successfully, implementing strategic solutions that meet the needs of the AWM business. An understanding of the wider context is necessary to ensure that appropriate solutions are generated which consider protection of the Firm's franchise in the future. These skills should be coupled with a creative, flexible and pragmatic approach to problem solving. A track record of project delivery and prior experience of stakeholder management is required.
  • Interpersonal: The individual will be required to influence and build strong relationships with project team members across geographical and functional boundaries, the ability to build strong networks and effective working relationships will be essential. This person will be required to liaise with colleagues at all levels in a structured manner. They will need to communicate requirements to Technology and project partners as well as negotiate the balance between delivery of business requirements and achieving deadlines and targets by being highly flexible and dynamic when faced with different challenges.
  • Management and leadership: The candidate will be expected to show an appropriate level of independence while operating within a management structure and take appropriate responsibilities for others' work. Some management of direct reports or contingent workers could also be involved.
  • Professional: This role requires an individual who has strong communication and organisation skills. The candidate will also require strong motivation, be able work independently when necessary and approach problems with a positive outlook and desire to find solutions. The role requires clear agenda setting, preparation and planning for meetings and tasks and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Business knowledge: Prior banking experience is a must. A good understanding of financial products across asset classes is required, with a preference for prior knowledge of the Wealth Management business and/or a background in Operations.
  • At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Data Product Collaboration

Customer & Campaign Analysis

  • Support the development and enhancement of Power BI dashboard for target audience analysis and campaign performance tracking
  • Assist in customer and campaign analysis to uncover insights, summarise key takeaways and support test & learn initiatives for continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • University graduate in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related subjects
  • Prior working experience in CRM, data and analytics and automation in financial services or consulting firms
  • Hands on experience as CRM / Data Analyst with strong skills in Databrick (using Pythons script). Experience with Power BI and SQL is also preferred.
  • 2-5 years of relevant working experience
  • Attention to details and strong problem-solving skills with a growth mindset to ensure data quality and enable continuous improvement
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a positive attitude
  • Advantage with knowledge in Salesforce Marketing Cloud or related digital Marketing Automations platforms

Business Process Optimization

  • Strategic objective alignment and project impact measurement

  • Site classification model to enable appropriate adaptation of improvement initiatives based on sites’ current position on defined capabilities and transformation curve
  • Standardized Manufacturing operation model and management system for optimum performance
  • Medium / Long term Manufacturing strategy development for coherent improvement and yearly capex deployment
  • Fit for purpose continuous improvement program based on company operation peculiarities
  • Global capability synergy and best practice sharing blueprint

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, supply chain or project management
  • Extensive experience in charge of project management and to execute project within agreed time frame and cost budgets and to ensure that targeted results are achieved to the satisfaction of all stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Lean, 6 Sigma, Total Productivity Management (TPM) or Continuous Process Improvement is a major plus
  • Knowledge of process simplification and automation is a plus
  • Knowledge of Design Thinking or Rapid Prototyping is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills to negotiate with the stakeholders as well convey the objectives with all the team members. The incumbent is the key link between the organization and the people involved in the projects. Openness and directness in the communication style of the project manager will establish transparency which is critical in eliminating ambiguity in the minds of the people involved
  • Demonstrate strong verbal, written, analytical skills, critical thinking, influence skill
  • Demonstrate a strong drive for results. A can-do attitude
  • Fact and data-driven
  • Demonstrate good discipline in holding project reviews, timeline, and budget
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, Mandarin, and Cantonese a plus

Business Process Optimization

  • Strategic objective alignment and project impact measurement
  • Global improvement project portfolio management
  • Identify improvement opportunities, leading Targeted key process improvement projects.
  • Oversee all aspects of projects rollout by setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, coordinating all related stakeholders, designing process, monitoring progress of project, managing risks and alternatives, to ensure the completion of projects within timeframe and budget
  • Maintain clear tracking of project budget (operating cost and product cost) throughout the project development phase
  • Hold accountable those who must deliver and prevent silos from forming by spending time and effort to nurture team collaboration
  • Must seek to clearly establish project priority with management when a conflict occur to allocate resources, to define and set realistic alternatives and project expectations when a resource fail to deliver as expected.
  • Able to anticipate execution challenges and counteract these challenges in early stage.
  • Escalate to manager/management when there is risk (cost, budget, schedule, quality) to the project
  • Project kick off and finalize project charter, provide on-project coaching and achieve project objective
  • Regular project update to management
Capability Development
