Responsibilities
  • Assist Senior Manager of Pharmacy in Clinical Trial Center operations, including but not limited to study planning and management, trial volunteers greeting and data screening, performing study procedures, data collection and documents management, facilities and quality management

Requirements

Research Assistant position is available in the Division of Life Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

The research tram is seeking highly motivated Research Assistant(s) to join the iPSC team. The individual will join a dedicated team that utilizes human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)-derived systems to model Alzheimer's disease. The Research Assistant will be trained to reprogram terminally differentiated cells into iPSCs, characterize iPSCs, differentiate neuronal and glial cells, and characterize the differentiated cells using cutting-edge technologies.

Duties

  • Tissue culture and quality control of iPSC and neuronal and glial differentiation.
  • Running both differentiation and phenotyping assays, including but not limited to: immunocytochemistry, imaging, western blot, RT-qPCR.
  • Creating quality assured banks of iPSC for use in a variety of projects.
  • Documenting all work in a lab notebook.
  • Lab maintenance, i.e. ordering supplies, general upkeep, etc.
  • Organizing and cryopreserving processed samples in liquid nitrogen tank.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Neurobiology or related field;
  • Flexible working hours during weekdays AND weekends on rotating schedule;
  • Experience with cell culture preferred; experience with iPSC is a plus;
  • Past research experience in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or neuroscience at the undergraduate level or beyond is preferred;
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, team-oriented; and
  • Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.

(Duration: 1 year, renewable)

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). This position is designed to serve as a bridge between undergraduate studies and graduate study (MPhil/PhD) in economics or finance. Main responsibilities of the appointee include:

  • Developing and maintaining Python code to clean, process, and analyze large financial datasets
  • Acquiring data via web scraping and API integration from public online sources
  • Producing publication-quality tables, figures and exhibits for papers and presentations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering). Candidates with a CS background are highly encouraged to apply
  • Exceptional Python programming skills and strong software engineering practices (proficiency with numpy, pandas, NLP, and code organization/version control)
