The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Component and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies; and Intelligent Perception and Control Technologies.
It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.
Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1,500 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1,100 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.
Job Responsibilities
To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

• Participate in projects in achieving the deliverables according to project schedules by playing key role in projects technical activities to advance project technology
• Responsible in prototype design, fabrication and performance evaluation to achieve projects deliverables. Derive solution to breakthrough technical barrier to meet designed performance target and contribute patentable innovative idea
• Work with industrial partners/collaborators and establish technical interflow to achieve effective synergistic execution and derive solution to breakthrough technical barrier
• Participate in technical promotion activities
• Conduct literature and marketing survey on technologies, products, patents and research papers
  

• Master degree or above in electronics physics, mechanical, electrical, chemistry, materials or relevant disciplines
• Knowledge in semiconductor fabrication, such as lithography, e-beam deposition, and/or dry etching process
• Hand-on experience in material analysis, such as shear test, DSC, SEM, EDX, XRD, XRF is preferrable
• Good written and presentation skills in English, fluency in Mandarin /Cantonese
• Strong team spirit, well organized with time management, self-motivated

Requirement

• Degree/Higher Diploma in Electrical/ Electronics/Mechanical Engineering discipline.
• 5 years’ working experience in relevant maintenance with at least 3 years at a supervisory level.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good command of English and Chinese.
  
  

• Perform scheduled daily maintenance, repair, minor alterations, and replacement of electronic equipment, ensuring efficient resource use and productivity.
• Coordinate and monitor electronic contractors’ performance and ensure the new installations meet the required specifications.
• Liaise with the IT Department to ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair of electronic network equipment.
• Prepare tender specifications, supervise tendering, project setup, installation, and ensure projects meet quality standards and schedules.
• Manage warranty claims and collaborate with Contracts & Administration, Procurement, and Store Sections to maintain appropriate stock levels of spares and materials.
• Conduct user training for the relevant section or department prior to handing over the work.
• Provide regular reports and recommendations to management.
• Lead and supervise the team, ensuring workplace safety, cleanliness, proper housekeeping, efficient work practices, and compliance with legal requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
