About Us

The UNSW Discipline of General Practice leads the delivery of educational and research activities aimed at improving the care of people in primary and community healthcare settings.

The discipline contributes to the education of the next generation of doctors through the UNSW Doctor of Medicine program, conducts primary and integrated care research, contributes to postgraduate teaching, supervises ILP/Honours and Higher Degree by Research students and works with professional organisations to build capacity in primary care research, education and continuous professional development.

Details of the role

We are looking for a Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow to manage the ‘MyMedicare for older adults living in residential aged care homes: mixed-methods evaluation’ project and supervise research officers in conjunction with the investigators. This includes leading the project operations team, which includes the investigators, research officers based at UNSW and collaborating institutions. This also includes managing the ethics and governance applications and processes, and liaising with the key stakeholders, applying for access to datasets, participant recruitment and involvement in other data collection and analysis activities.

A Research Fellow (Level B) is expected to carry out independent and/or team research within the field in which they are appointed and to carry out activities to develop their research expertise relevant to their particular field of research.

A Senior Research Fellow (Level C) is expected to make independent or original contributions to the research effort within their field of research expertise and to the organisational unit or inter-disciplinary area of which they are part. An academic at this level is expected to play a major role in research including the exercise of some leadership in research.

The role of Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow reports to the Associate Professor and has no direct reports.

Skills and experience required for this position at Level B and level C include:

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.

The mission of CAiRS is to link up academic and industrial counterparts to introduce and implement new artificial intelligence methods and deep learning techniques with reliability modelling, with the goal of improving the products reliability and systems safety of critical components and devices, products, systems and sub-systems designed, commissioned and/or manufactured by Hong Kong companies and enterprises.

Research Scientist (Ref. No.: CAiRS-RS/P1.1-3)

(Appointment period: each for twenty-four months initially, with possibility of further appointment)

Required

The appointees will report to the Programme Manager and assist in planning and monitoring one or two of the research projects - “Informative feature discovery and selection”, “Early detection of degradation in electronic interconnects” and “Anomaly detection for systems under indeterminate operating conditions” in the areas of electrical reliability and safety, machine learning, and computer vision. They will be required to:

  • develop objectives and design projects and proposals;
  • coordinate and monitor research projects;
  • formulate and implement appropriate methodologies for research projects;
  • conduct experiments, perform data analysis, and evaluate test and research results;
  • supervise project team members;
  • compose research findings for publications, grants, and other documents;
  • assist in grant and manuscript submissions; and
  • perform any other duties as assigned by the Centre Director or his delegate

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • a master’s degree or above in Science, Engineering or a relevant discipline;
  • at least two years of research-related experience in the fields of electrical reliability/safety, machine learning and computer vision;
  • knowledge and understanding of related research methodologies; and
  • experience in research publications and grant applications.

  • conduct experiments, perform data analysis, and evaluate test and research results;
  • supervise project team members;
  • compose research findings for publications, grants, and other documents;
  • assist in grant and manuscript submissions; and
  • perform any other duties as assigned by the Centre Director or his delegate
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
  • a master’s degree or above in Science, Engineering or a relevant discipline;
  • at least two years of research-related experience in the fields of electrical reliability/safety, machine learning and computer vision;
  • knowledge and understanding of related research methodologies; and
  • experience in research publications and grant applications.
