The Department has existing strength in Chinese history, Hong Kong history, public history, and global history, along with various subfields such as media, gender, animal, and environmental studies.
General Requirements
Applicants should hold a PhD in History or a closely related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to research and teaching excellence, with an outstanding track record of scholarly publications in internationally leading peer-reviewed journals and major scholarly presses, as well as extensive experience in teaching and course development. The ability to contribute to the Department’s strategic areas—global Asia, public history, or/and digital history—is essential. Experience in digital humanities will be considered an advantage.
Appointment
The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong potential to publish in top tier management journals as well as teaching excellence in the classroom. Teaching experience at the postgraduate and executive levels is a plus but not required. Major Duties:
The appointee is expected to contribute to the planning, development, implementation and review of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Digital Transformation programme. The Programme aims to develop students' understanding and capability to become digital transformers, manage transformation and innovation in the current business environment. The Programme offers two specialised streams, one in 'Digital Business and Leadership' and the other in 'Digital Technology and Innovation'.
The appointee will need to provide strong academic leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; curriculum development in at least one of the following modules:
- Digital Business Process and Operations
- Global Business Environment
- Cyber Security in Business
- Strategic Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Business Intelligence and Analytics
The appointee will take part in teaching and supervising student work; delivering quality programme; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, collaboration with industry and promoting the Institute and the programme. The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in one of the following areas: Business Administration; Digital Business; Information Technology; Digital Technology and Innovation or related disciplines, with relevant teaching experience at tertiary level; demonstrate achievement (or good potential for achievement) in research and scholarly activities, and experience in professional practice in the relevant fields; and have high proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua. S/he must also fulfil one of the following criteria:
(a) Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or
(b) Received a recognised bachelor's degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or
(c) At least 3 years' work experience in Mainland China or other Putonghua speaking countries or regions; or

Requirements- Applicants should have a relevant PhD degree in any economics field.
- Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in data analytics and/or the digital economy.
- Candidates for senior positions should also have a strong track record of research and teaching accomplishments.
- Fresh PhD graduates are expected to submit their applications before the closing date. Applications from other candidates will be processed throughout the year until the positions are filled.
- The appointment will be offered on a tenure track.
- The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years starting from a mutually agreed date in 2023.
- Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
- Remuneration package includes retirement/gratuity benefits, annual leave, medical and dental scheme, monthly cash allowance/staff quarters and relocation allowance where applicable.
- Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
