Assistant Director, Communications and Public Relations (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 532716) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)Applicants should possess a good bachelor’s degree, with about 10 years’ full-time work experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); outstanding organisational, project management and problem-solving skills; a high level of computer literacy; the ability to multitask under pressure, work well both independently and in a team, as well as work with people from a broad range of backgrounds internally and externally. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep understanding and experience of event management and public relations practices.The appointee will support the Faculty’s Communications and Public Relations Team in planning, developing and implementing corporate communications strategies for brand promotion.Responsibilities of the appointee will include but not limited to:• Overseeing all branding and marketing activities, including content creation and planning, offline and online marketing coordination and, to enhance brand awareness of HKU Business School;• Planning, organizing, and managing events such as gala dinner, conferences, forums, seminars and press conferences, to promote our brand and products/services;• Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth event/campaign planning and execution;• Creating press releases, speeches, media kits, and other PR materials to generate positive media coverage;• Developing short-term and long-term scheduling, budget and resource plans and manage the annual budget for branding and marketing;• Developing crisis communication plans and effectively managing communication with media and online channels during crisis situations;• Creating compelling and engaging advertisements to promote our brand, products, and services across various platforms;• Building market intelligence, monitoring trends and developments to assess the effectiveness of brand initiatives and discover new opportunities; and• Undertaking any other duties assigned by the Faculty Office.Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.The University only accepts online application for the above post. The Plot Thickens: Job Description

  • Integrated marketing communications (IMC): Provide strategic thinking and approach to guide communication tactics across different marketing channels, including paid, owned and earned media.
  • Media relations : Propose interesting story angles, liaise with local and region media and maintain a network of media contacts; Organize media briefings and executive interviews and provide counsel to spokespeople.
  • Content creation : Ensure consistent tone and accuracy of content, develop and review key content pieces (such as press releases, Q&A documents, bylines, speeches, corporate narratives, etc.), and develop communication plans for clients (in English and Chinese).
  • Market intelligence and reporting : Oversee and review different types of reports, track results against goals, and provide insightful summaries and analysis for clients.
  • Client relations : Serve as a point person and trusted client advisor, provide counsel and manage expectations for program execution and maintain a high-quality standard across the work you deliver.
  • Account management : Oversee day-to-day account activities with speed and accuracy, track account budget and resourcing, and work with senior leaders to manage all aspects of the account.
  • New business : Contribute to RFPs and pitch decks and participate in new business presentations.

As Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) celebrates two decades of success as a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and the Hong Kong Government, we are seeking a strategic and visionary Communications and Public Affairs (CPA) Director of External Relations team to lead our external engagement efforts.

This role is pivotal in positioning HKDL as a premier tourism landmark and economic contributor, while cultivating high-impact relationships with government, public bodies, and key stakeholders across political, industry, and business sectors. The successful candidate will drive advocacy, policy influence, and stakeholder engagement to support HKDL’s development and reputation across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

You will serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, connecting business needs across internal and external stakeholders, and shaping long-term plans that unlock commercial opportunities and foster a business-friendly environment.

Key Job Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute external relations strategies aligned with HKDL’s business priorities and growth milestones.
  • Lead shareholder engagement and governance matters in partnership with Legal and Finance, including but not limited to JV board meetings and project steering committee.
  • Anticipate and manage potential or emerging sensitive issues involving government departments, political entities, and NGOs to develop tailored advocacy strategies.
  • Collaborate with Media Relations, Finance, Legal, and Segment teams on annual business reviews and economic impact studies to ensure the establishment of an ever-green narrative with clear articulation of HKDL’s value to the community
  • Collaborate with the wider CPA teams and other Lines of Business (LOBs) to provide strategic counsel on regulatory, public policy, and political matters.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Hong Kong government bureaus, Central Government agents, foreign consular corps, political parties, unions, and business associations.
  • Shape regional outreach strategies, especially in the GBA and mainland China, to elevate HKDL’s profile and unlock new opportunities.
  • Oversee industry relations through partnerships with The Hong Kong Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (HKAAPA), Lantau Development Alliance (LaDA), and other regional tourism and theme park entities.
  • Advise executives on participation in key associations and manage high-level protocols for official visits and exchanges.


Preferred Skills And Experience


  • University degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in Government Relations, Public Administration, Public Affairs, or Communications.
  • First-hand experience working with government bodies, public institutions, or political parties; or senior public affairs roles in multinational corporations.
  • Strong leadership and a collaborative with a proactive mindset.
  • Deep understanding of Hong Kong’s legislative processes, political landscape, and governmental operation
  • Proven experience navigating GBA and mainland China networks is highly crucial.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to connect business needs across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled in influencing and persuading diverse stakeholders to align with HKDL’s vision and objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and drive progress under pressure.
  • Executive presence with the ability to simplify complex ideas and consolidate input from senior leaders.
  • Business-savvy integrator who can link external relations strategies to broader business and CPA goals.
  • Language proficiency in spoken and written English, Cantonese, and Mandarin is required.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (“HKTDC”), the statutory organisation promoting Hong Kong’s external trade, is looking for a dynamic and high caliber professional to join our Exhibitions and Digital Business Department.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Section Head, Marketing, the job-holder is to act as the project manager of assigned projects. Main duties include:

  • To develop and strengthen the network with worldwide trade journalists/editors and local mass media to help publicising the fairs
  • To draft and distribute press releases regularly on HKTDC fairs, monitor media coverage and handle press enquiries
  • To proactively dig out news angle of the fairs, product and event highlights to pitch international and local mass and trade media
  • To arrange press interviews and to provide talk notes for senior management
  • To organise local press conference, provide talk notes, draft PowerPoints, and make logistical arrangements for press conference
  • To brief, receive international journalists and to organise events during their visit to the fairs
  • To liaise closely with various departments / offices of the Council in organising local or overseas press conferences and events for the HKTDC fairs
  • To explore partnership with the trade or mass media for initiatives conducive to bring values to the fairs
  • To help leading the Media Team in terms of overall strategic planning or team tasks

Requirements:

  • A university degree, preferably in Journalism and/or Communications
  • Minimum 8 years' solid relevant working experience in marketing / corporate communications or client servicing in public relations field, preferably with multi-national corporations
  • Excellent English and Chinese press release writing skill a must
  • Have experience working with media and building media network
  • Excellent command in both spoken and written English and Chinese. Fluent in Putonghua
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Multi-tasking, well-organised, detail-minded and independent with good initiatives
  • Excellent in time management and could meet tight deadlines

Remuneration and Benefits:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A competitive remuneration and benefits package, including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be offered.
