The MRDI is looking for a dynamic and high-calibre professional to fill the position of Engineer, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for identifying and interpreting EHS-related laws and regulations and continuously promoting operational compliance.
- Responsible for applying permits related to safety, occupational hygiene, environmental protection, and fire services for the FAB.
- Serve as the liaison with the Fire Services Department, Occupational Safety & Health Council, and Environmental Protection Department to ensure effective communication and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage contractor entry processes, including qualification review, onboarding training, and compliance supervision during operations.
- Draft and continuously update EHS management system documentation.
- Lead and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification and system operations.
- Perform administrative support and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or above.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working as a safety officer, environmental, safety and health officer, quality assurance and safety officer in the chemical-related manufacturing industry, preferably from the semiconductor/microelectronics-related industry.
- Familiar with Hong Kong's legal and regulatory framework in industrial safety, environmental protection, occupational health, fire safety, and emergency response.
- Experienced in communication and administrative approval processes with the Fire Services Department, Occupational Safety & Health Council, and Environmental Protection Department.
- Familiar with the compliance permits required at each stage of a manufacturing industry/factory/fabrication.
- Knowledgeable in NFPA, SEMI, and FM standards relevant to semiconductor FABs or the manufacturing industry.
- Proficient in contractor compliance processes and hazardous work regulations.
- Detail-oriented, self-driven and able to work with minimal guidance.
- Language proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.
- Good command of written English and Chinese (both Traditional and Simplified Chinese).
The initial employment contract spans 12 months and can be renewed with a longer tenure upon mutual agreement of the incumbent and MRDI. The incumbent will normally work five days a week. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A gratuity of 15% of the salary will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the contract.

Main Purpose Of The Job
Execute the tasks and coordinate the activities dictated to the Safety Management System (SMS), including safety investigation, safety risk assessment, safety assurance and safety promotion.
Main Areas Of Responsibility
- Conduct routine review and processing of safety reports submitted to Safety and Operational Risk Management Department (SRM) related to operational safety.
- Provide support and participate in the investigation of operational safety occurrences.
- Facilitate Operational Learning Reviews (OLRs) to capture learning from safety events as and when required.
- Liaise with relevant operational departments to ensure clear communication and effective follow-up on operational safety events.
- Keep track of the recommendations and/or corrective actions arising from the investigation and safety meetings. Ensure they are implemented or closed in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Support the Data Management team in conducting routine analysis to identify adverse safety trends in operations.
- Facilitate cross-teams Safety Risk Assessment as and when required.
- Provide technical and administrative support in maintaining effective and efficient SMS processes in operations.
- Provide administrative support in safety meetings as and when required, including the production of meeting agenda and meeting minutes.
- Conduct inspection, survey or observation as and when required.
- Organise and conduct safety promotion activities for, including the Safety Management System training programme.
- Draft articles for safety publication to promote operational safety awareness amongst employees.
- Participate in projects and tasks as and when directed by the Manager, Safety Management System (MSMS) or Assistant Manager, Safety Management System (AMSMS).
The Ideal Candidate
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in aviation industry, preferably in safety management or operational role.
Knowledge
- Knowledge in Safety Management System (SMS).
- Good understanding of airline's operations, particularly flight operations.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an aviation, or safety management discipline.
- Formally trained in safety investigation is an added advantage.
Skills
- Good interpersonal, time management, analytical, communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
